Persistent Sales Pests Avoid!
Met them at Build it live in Manchester and took my details and said they would only quote once we had planning and made sense.
They wanted to arrange to come to our house to quote, I stated that the house we are building was some 200 miles away and they had all the information to quote. They insisted on a meeting at our current house. I immediately thought pressure selling and old style double glazing sales but thought against it.
I took the morning off work, to be called an hour before to say the salesman car had broken down and could we re-arrange. I further asked why they can not just quote as the property was not even here as we currently live in rented?
I have since had some 18 calls from them and had to block the number !
Some even 2 times a day!
We pulled these off our phone system.
Considering they are supposed to be an energy efficient company why are they burning up CO2 traveleling to quote customers, we are an IT company and all about cutting CO2 via remote working, a home visit is not needed only for pressure selling, evidence of this below!
I then emailed my after blocking still trying to get the business and I replied with my right to be forgotten as per GDPR and then contacted me again as a breach of GDPR!

We are saddened to read your review and would like to acknowledge the issues that you have raised.
Firstly, all appointments that we attend are not to do with 'pressure selling' but are to give us the opportunity to provide you with an accurate and personalised report. As we provide a completely bespoke system based on an individual customer's requirements, it is necessary for you to choose the different components that you require from our various options. In order to be able to do this, we need to be able to discuss this with you in person so that you can see all of the available options.
As we work with thousands of customers a year, all of whom have different preferences to how we communicate with them, many people prefer a more personal approach and would rather discuss the technology face to face, rather than just over the phone. However, taking your feedback on board, we are currently trialling the ability to do this remotely, via a screen share, rather than in person. If this trial is successful we will be able to roll out this option to future customers. We apologise that this was not available at the time. As you said, this will also result in us using less CO2 travelling.
A number of our Energy Advisers do drive electric cars and we recently installed charging points at our office to encourage employees to switch to EVs. On our website and social media pages, you will also find a number of blogs and campaigns that we continuously run to promote the importance of being green as this something we are huge advocates for.
We are sorry that on the day our Energy Adviser had motor issues and was not able to make the appointment. We appreciate that our customers often schedule appointments around work or other commitments and in rare cases, these sometimes may be cancelled due to unavoidable issues and we apologise profusely for this.
In terms of the phone calls, we do try to phone at different times on different days as we appreciate that all customers have varying commitments and we aim to communicate as best as possible to answer all questions and rearrange appointments if required. If there is no answer, we schedule to call you again at a different time on a different day to try and reach you when you are available. At any point, a customer requests to longer be contacted, we cease to do so immediately. Some customers really appreciate the fact that we go the extra mile after they have given us their details to contact them to discuss an enquiry, again it is personal preference.
Gareth simply emailed you back after your request to be removed from our system purely to confirm that your details had been removed and to apologise for the issues that you raised within your detailed email. This was in no way to disregard your request but was to reassure your that we had logged your feedback and had completed your removal request.
Once again, we are sorry if our approach was not to your taste. We would like to wish you all the best with your self-build project.

I have been very pleased with the service offered by Solar Plants. They were excellent in communications from organising a surveyor to come and assess the best options for me, arranging scaffolding which came exactly when they said and was collected just as promptly and the fitting of the panels and the battery. All the workmen were very polite, helpful and pleasant to have working around the place.The only blip was the salesman who was my first point of contact - it just goes to show you shouldn't judge things on their first impression.

System upgrade.
Since haveing the upgrade of panel optimisers & a new Inverter, the system has improved by 25%.The SolarPlants installer was on his own that day & did a great job of installing the 12 optimisers on the panels. The new Inverter in our roof space took a bit of setting up, but the day wasn’t very sunny, so took a bit of time to start up. Very pleased with the system and have no worries in recommending SolarPlant Ltd.

Solar Plants installed 18 LG panels and…
Solar Plants installed 18 LG panels and a Sonnet battery for us just before the end of March, which was just before the Feed in Tariff cutoff. The company was very busy because of this but we got first class service and attention to detail. We did have an issue with the battery and this was quickly resolved. .
I have no hesitation to recommend Solar Plants to future clients.

Solar Edge upgrade: assessment after 12 months
I am writing this second review of the activities of Solar Plants Ltd to update my original one, which is still available, on 11 August 2018.
There is nothing in my first review that I would wish to change. When John Bloomfield the sales manager visited me he suggested that one year was a reasonable time period over which to assess the efficacy of our Solar Edge upgrade, and this time has now elapsed. There has been no significant change of output since upgrade: our neighbours still make very slightly more than us roughly in proportion to the number of panels in each case.
For some months now John Bloomfield has failed to reply to my emails. In these I asked two significant questions: firstly whether Solar Edge upgrade is still being sold by his company, and if so secondly whether his sales representatives are now making it clear to prospective clients that the improvement in output, especially if there is little direct shading, may be as little as 2%. He has recently passed my “case” over to their Customer Support and Complaints Manager Jayne de Villiers. She has responded at length to me, but has really said nothing new. The two questions above remain unanswered, and I suspect the answers are “yes” and “no” respectively. Finally Jayne admitted that in our case the increase in output had been of the order of 2-3%. I have no idea how this figure has been arrived at, but am happy to agree that it is about right. If this level is maintained it will be about 100 years before we have recouped the cost of the upgrade!
In summary I feel that Solar Plants are a well set up professional company, but are in this instance considerably over-selling a product which may give very little benefit to the consumer. So far I have not requested a refund from the company, being more concerned to prevent them misleading other panel owners in the same way. I will however be trying to advance my complaint as far as possible, and have already been in touch with my local Trading Standards office and the Home Insulation & Energy Systems Quality Assured Contractors Scheme (H.I.E.S.) to this end. I think it rather sad that nearly all these Trustpilot reviews focus on the general politeness and efficiency of Solar Plants staff, and mine appear to be the only ones where an attempt has been made to evaluate the product being sold.

Once again, we are deeply saddened to read your review. You did forewarn us that you were intent on writing a damaging review, despite all of our best efforts and lengthy communications to answer and address all concerns based on factual evidence. We also offered to visit you with a mediator of your choice, such as Trading Standards, with the aim to resolve this matter, in fact, we encouraged you to do this as we were so committed to resolving this with you.
As we have already explained and acknowledged, it is impossible to compare your solar PV system to your neighbours. Their system was fitted by a different company, with completely different technology, with a different number of panels, varying shading factors and was installed at a different time.
Jayne answered both of these questions within 2 letters that she sent to you. We still have copies of these letters and can provide these to you, should you need another copy of these. Within the letters, Jayne explains that across all of our marketing materials, website, social media and any other literature, we use the words ‘up to 25%’ and in no way mislead customers or mis-sell any products. We have a hugely respected name within the industry and a first-class reputation which we pride ourselves on and we would have no reason to jeopardise this.
Our representatives follow these guidelines and are always receiving training to ensure that they are clear on how products work. They are also given feedback by Senior Managers and in this case, the representative would have been made aware of the concerns you raised to make sure that the advice given to customers is clear and concise to avoid any information being misunderstood.
As an organisation, we assess any system failures on a regular basis. Thus all employees are mindful of presenting the most accurate information to our customers at all times.
Your system will also benefit from increased warranty on the inverter, which without this usually needs to be replaced around 2-3 times during the lifetime of your system at a cost of around £1000. Another factor to account for is how each panel degrades differently over time. Your system will now extract the maximum amount of power from your panels now, and in the future, thus increasing your generation over time.
We have a HUGE amount of honest and reliable customer reviews, providing feedback on products, including the SolarEdge upgrade. We also have a variety of videos on our Youtube Channel from customers who talk in detail about their experience with us, their review of the products installed and the ongoing support years after installation.
We are now looking to implement a 12 month annual review so that our customers can report their generation and provide any feedback one year on from their installation, although we welcome all customers to get in touch at any time to discuss things with us at any time.

I had a great experience with Solarplants and would recommend them to anyone who is thinking of having Solar Panels or Battery Storage Solution installed. The information provided was very clear and easy to understand. The Site Survey engineer provided clear details of statistics and what to expect for the installation work.

A most refreshing experience
Sales person technically knowledgeable and not at all "pushy"
Data and information material clear and not over simplified.
Once decision to place the order made everything proceeded very efficiently and professionally, communication was outstanding, polite, friendly and timely.
Local scaffolders fitted the necessary access framework prior to the installation-teams' arrival. They arrived promptly and installed the system, guided me through usage and operation in a friendly, polite and tidy manner.
There was excellent guidance and support with claiming the FIT.
Some technical questions I raised after commissioning were dealt with promptly by knowledgeable engineers.
But, best of all, I now have a "state of the art" energy system that the other firms I considered don't apparently know even exists.
The whole experience with this company was positive and a breath of fresh air.
I unreservedly recommend them.

Friendly, knowledgeable and competitively priced.
When looking for a solar panel solution for our house I spoke to three different companies. Out of the three, Solar Plants were the ones who gave me the most confidence in their understanding of the product and the options available. Both pros and cons were explained during the process with no request to sign up there and then (I had another company to speak to after Solar Plants so could not make a decision there and then even if I had wanted to).
Once the purchase was agreed, Solar Plants were flexible in the fitting of the solar panels as an initial date was agreed which I subsequently had to change at relatively short notice.
All in all a very friendly, knowledgeable and competitively priced company to deal with.

Where shall I start...
We attended Farnborough Show where Solar Pants had theirs representatives. After having a good talk and asking many questions we decided on free valuation. We checked company reputation online before meeting sales person. At agreed time Mike came and I must admit we had mixed feelings. Meeting was far too long, promoting company (video clips) and their awards. Which we knew about as we checked before who we dealing with. It was like going back to school. Nevermind. As nice as Mike was I found he didn't focus as much on explaining the whole process and products, more on private chit chat. We have learned a lot about his private life :) Too much for business meeting. He also didn't mention output of individual solar panel and whole system. Which we found out on the end reading agreement. He also mislead us with number of panels ( he told us 8 could be installed but he also said we don't need that many, 6 was a squeez, and suggested cutting our bathroom vent) and their efficiency, specially output in winter months. When we asked about reporting solar panels to our energy supplier, he answered that there is no need for that. Which we knew is not true. On the end he asked few times what we would like to do... no hard sale? Moving on to surveyor. No problem and installing team great but arrived late so by the end of installation we could not check if everything works properly because there was no sun! We had to sign satisfaction forms even not knowing if everything is ok as their workers phone us few times and REMIND about it few days before installation. Now it's clear to us why they have been so concerned, because money will not be released to them from the lending firm. We have used buy now pay later option available. Scaffolding company... well, they came turned radio up loud on whole street, then after 20 min gone because... forgot something. Came back after 2h and put scaffolding up. We had that scaffolding up for two weeks. One day coming back from work we realised is gone. Start getting use to it. A week after that we received a phone call from scaffolding company saying that they coming to take scaffolding down. I answered that is not here anymore for around a week now a gentlemen said are you sure... well yeah I'm 100% sure.
After sale team
Sorry but I'm not impressed. I had few questions. Been told some technician will phone me shortly. After 3h waiting phoned them again and been told that he/she finished today earlier...Why no one said that first time? Didn't get any phone call and answers from technician anyway. Simply just used internet to find out more. Quicker that way! But I had other phone call from Solar Plants ( to be honest I was hoping that was their technician but not) about battery I said straight that is too much ( approx £5000 ) and I'm not interested but I'm interested in something else ( price approx £300) man on the phone lost interest in talking to me and gave some excuse saying that will phone later. Never did... From my understanding it looks like it was not worth it a hassle for £300. Another, last thing finally, is their full management as we been offered by Mike. Not sure if is working because panels been down for 3 days in March and no phone call again... Don't get me wrong I love my Solar panels system ( we probably paid more using Solar Plants for it then if we would other companies ) and would install them again but... maybe is just our bad luck compare to other people using Solar Plants looking at their excellent reviews

We would like to address the points that you have raised within our response to you and would be happy to discuss this in further detail.
We are sorry to hear that Mike was too chatty. He really is a genuinely friendly guy and would never mean for this to come across in a negative way but we appreciate your feedback on this and will address this with Mike. Our ethos as a company is to educate but we would never want for you to feel as though you were ‘back in school’ and will also raise this in our feedback to Mike. Some customers appreciate Mike’s friendly chatty nature but we understand that other customers wouldn’t, and will feedback to Mike that he needs to adapt to individual customers needs.
There may have been a miscommunication with the question regarding informing your energy supplier of your decision to install solar. There is no legal requirement to tell your energy supplier if you are going solar, they will be made aware when you apply for your Feed-In Tariff. For example, any customers who install solar PV now, after the Feed-In Tariff has gone, will not need to let their energy supplier know. Mike may have misunderstood this question, but we apologise for any confusion on this matter. Your district network operator does need to know about your decision to install solar, which we officially inform in writing on your behalf.
Here at Solar Plants we always size a system based upon our customer energy usage. This is why Mike suggested 6 panels, which is the number that you ordered. We always follow up with a full structural survey where we ensure that the system can be installed successfully on your roof.
During certain times of the year, when the days are shorter, like February when your installation was completed, it is difficult for our installation teams to complete a full installation before the light fades. We check all systems at the beginning of each morning to ensure that they are working correctly, so we could confirm that your system was fully operational. As all satisfaction notes need to be signed in person and not digitally, it is necessary to get all forms signed and completed before leaving the property. Of course, if there were any issues we would not ask for you to sign the form. Our team are highly experienced and could tell, even without the remote monitoring, that your system was operational.
Upon listening to the calls, we can verify that we followed our regular procedure, which we have found that most customers prefer. Having contact with our pre and post-installation team keeps customers updated in order to claim the Feed-In Tariff. We have listened back to the calls prior to the installation and we can see that you did receive a call to make sure the appointment was still convenient and in that call we did reference your finance satisfaction form, purely to ensure that you had received it as they are sent out by Royal Mail in order for you to receive it before the day of installation. All other post-installation courtesy calls were to ensure that you had sent and received confirmation of your Feed-In Tariff application with your supplier.
The scaffolding that we can use is a third party contractor and we have passed your feedback over to them. We aim to work as closely as possible with them to provide the best service that we can together but apologise profusely for this.
We apologise that you feel let down by the customer support team. Having looked into your concerns to see where our customer support failed you on this occasion, we can see you called in on a Friday for technical support and a representative was to call you back the following Monday. We have spoken with the team and can see that the failure to call must have been a result of the issue resolving itself after 3 days over the weekend period. This does not excuse that you did not get a call and we will learn from this to make sure our customer support is more efficient, timely and helpful.
Thank you for making us aware of your concerns and disappointments and we will ensure that moving forward, you receive better support with all enquiries. Now that you are part of the Solar Plants family, we want you to feel happy with the service and we aim to meet expectations so that your journey going forward with us is the best one possible.

Solar Plants Upgrade
My 4KW Solar Panel system was fitted in February 2012, and on what is deemed, as the old string system, whereby the power generated is equivalent to the lowest performing solar panel.
Whilst browsing on the internet, i read about the Solar Plants system, was impressed and made an appointment for them to visit me. Presentation was excellent and convinced me to upgrade, however, the niggle was why spend the money whilst the existing system was fully operational. Well in August 2018, the performance began to fall, panels are on a North facing roof so its low anyway, so the call was made at the beginning of February.
Very pleased with the response from Solar Plants who still located the paperwork from 14 months earlier, and were on site before the end of the month. Communication throughout was excellent, even got a call to say the installers were stuck on the Motorway, and they arrived as per the revised ETA. The team of 3 lead by Dave were extremely polite, and explained throughout what they were doing. They thought one of the upgrades I had asked was not going to produce the returns (I already had a similar device fitted), so that did not go ahead and my bill was reduced.
System has now been working for over a month, and its interesting to see the performance of the individuals panels, my best one and my worst one are next to each other.
Any future requirements I have, I will be straight onto Solar Plants without hesitation.

The salesman was honest and direct, the installation team of Dale, Mark and Adam were a well-drilled team and the installation went smoothly and without a hitch, even in some very difficult circumstances The scaffolding team similarly so very engaged and pleasant to deal with. Excellent communication from start to finish... The advisor who spoke with me initially explained everything and left a good amount of information for me to read through. Next, the surveyor who ensured the property is suitable for the installation and informed me where everything would be etc. One the day of the installation, the team where both polite and professional and installed everything and cleaned up within the day.
The office assisted with the FIT forms and ensured everything was to my satisfaction - we should support companies who operate like this!

No complaints from start to finish
No complaints from start to finish. System has been operational since 11th Feb 2019 and to date has performed well even through the weather has not been great. Looking forward to seeing actual savings made. Highly recommend this Company and all ofthe staff.
