Very useful platform
Although the platform isn’t always intuitive in terms of use - to me at least - on the couple of occasions that I’ve contacted the team at Spareroom, I’ve received a very helpful response within the hour. The list of FAQs is also comprehensive.

Disappointing experience with The HMO Guys
I contacted The HMO Guys regarding a room they had advertised. I received a message asking for my age, occupation and when I was looking to move.
I replied that I'm 37, work full time in construction as a multi skilled operative and could move anytime within the next month.
A couple of hours later I received an automated rejection saying they wouldn't be following up, either because of the volume of interest or because I was a "mismatch" for their requirements.
I find this pretty disappointing. I'm a single man in full time employment, clean and tidy, with no children or pets, simply looking for somewhere decent to live while working. There was no conversation, viewing or further questions before I was apparently deemed unsuitable.
If there was a specific reason I didn't meet the requirements, I'd much rather they be upfront about what that was rather than sending a vague automated rejection.
It already seems unnecessarily difficult for a single working man to find decent accommodation without being dismissed by an automated message after providing nothing more than your age and occupation
