I have been a Splend customer for a considerable period of time and throughout my contract I have fulfilled all of my obligations. I have always paid on time, paid any excess charges when required, maintained the vehicle properly
and cooperated whenever documentation or information was requested.
Unfortunately, my experience with Splend has been repeatedly affected by administrative failures that have directly impacted my ability to work and earn an income as an Uber driver.
Splend specifically instructed me in writing not to upload compliance documents to Uber myself, stating that Splend would upload all required documents directly to the Uber Supplier Portal on behalf of drivers. I followed those instructions.
Despite this, I have experienced repeated document-related issues. On one occasion, I personally identified a serious error in a Permission Letter issued by Splend. The document contained expired contractual dates and had to be corrected after I raised the issue. Splend acknowledged the mistake and reissued the document.
More recently, after successfully completing my MOT, my vehicle disappeared from my Uber account and I was unable to work. After speaking with Uber, I was informed that the issue needed to be resolved by Splend because Splend is responsible for managing and uploading the relevant compliance documents. As a result, I lost yet another working day and the income associated with it.
This is not an isolated incident. Similar administrative problems have occurred multiple times during my contract. In my estimation, the cumulative financial losses caused by these repeated interruptions now exceed £1,000.
There is also an ongoing concern regarding the vehicle's rear tyres. The latest MOT advisory does not simply refer to normal tread wear. It specifically notes age-related deterioration and cracking. These issues are not the result of my driving style but are associated with age and normal wear and tear.
My understanding of the contract is that Splend is responsible for replacing tyres affected by normal wear and tear, within the contractual limits. However, despite this, no replacement has yet been arranged in my case.
I am not asking for special treatment. I am simply asking for proper administration, accurate document management, compliance with contractual obligations and the ability to work without repeatedly losing income because of avoidable administrative errors.
I have submitted formal complaints to Splend and I am currently awaiting a meaningful resolution rather than another generic response.
Evidence available upon request, including Splend emails acknowledging documentation errors, Uber communications, MOT records and formal complaint references.
Update 24/06/2026
Thank you for your response.
I do not wish to continue discussing this matter publicly and remain available to provide evidence privately if required.
However, I am unable to agree with the conclusion that I uploaded vehicle documents through my Uber portal. As a Splend driver, the Documents section visible in my Uber Driver account only contains my personal driver documents (driving licence, PCO licence, bank statement, profile photo, etc.). There is no visible section allowing me to upload MOT or vehicle compliance documents.
I have screenshots of my account, correspondence with Splend and Uber, and a recorded conversation with Uber Support regarding this matter.
I have no reason to provide inaccurate information and would gain nothing by doing so. My only objective is to establish the facts based on evidence.
I believe this matter would be better discussed privately rather than through public statements. I remain willing to cooperate and provide all relevant evidence.
Kind regards,
Eugen Bulbuc

My Experience with the Jaecoo J7 Through Splend – A Warning to Other Drivers
I have been driving a Jaecoo J7 supplied through Splend since 31 March 2026. Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing and I feel it is important to share it with other drivers who may be considering this vehicle or rental arrangement.
During my time with the vehicle, I experienced a number of issues, including:
- The vehicle rolling backwards while in Drive, creating a potential safety risk.
- Significant wind noise and an apparent air leak from the rear driver's side door at motorway speeds.
- Rear seat belts that passengers regularly struggle to use.
- Incorrect speed limit recognition, resulting in constant warnings and alarms, often displaying the wrong speed limit.
- Vehicle settings frequently resetting to default, requiring repeated adjustment before journeys.
- Two separate incidents where the 12V battery went completely flat and required a jump start.
- Poor hybrid performance compared to the advertised range and efficiency.
- An unexpected emergency braking event which almost caused a collision and left both myself and my passenger distressed.
What has been even more concerning is the level of support received after reporting these issues.
Initially, I expected the vehicle supplier and manufacturer to investigate and rectify any faults. However, I have now been advised that many of these matters are being treated as diagnostic investigations and repairs that I may be expected to arrange and pay for myself.
When the 12V battery failed, I was informed by the breakdown provider that I could wait up to two days for assistance. When I contacted Splend, I was effectively told that the matter was between myself and Jaecoo.
I have also experienced issues with parking penalties. Liability was transferred to me, but delays in council record updates meant I lost the opportunity to pay at the discounted rate or make representations. As a result, I ended up paying significantly more, plus administration fees.
My advice to other drivers is to:
- Thoroughly inspect the vehicle when collecting it.
- Keep records of all faults, photographs, videos and communications.
- Report issues immediately and in writing.
- Clarify who is responsible for diagnostics and repairs before signing any agreement.
- Be prepared for the possibility that vehicle faults may not be resolved as quickly as expected.
- Carefully review how parking penalties and administration charges are handled under the rental agreement.
Based on my experience, I would advise drivers to exercise caution and ensure they fully understand the support arrangements before committing to any agreement.
