Starfury Conventions Reviews 

I have been to two Starfury conventions so far, Warp 1 and 2, and found them to be the most fun, laid back and entertaining cons I’ve been to in years.

The staff are so friendly and helpful, and supportive with any issue, e.g. with questions / worries about missing autos or photos.

The guest line up was great, they clearly had a lot of fun - some specifically called out Warp 2 had been one of the best cons with the greatest attendees and questions they’d seen.

A fun theme disco was held each night for the party people and for me, I signed up for a few of the fan meets (extra cost) which gave a closer insight into some of the guests.

Would gladly go to another event (hope there’s a Warp 3 please) and would definitely recommend to any fan.

Having attended both Warp 1 and now Starfury Warp 2, I can honestly say these events are something special. I attended with my wife and our two very keen Trek children (9 and 11), and all four of us had a fantastic time.

One thing Starfury does exceptionally well is the scheduling. The timings between talks, photos, and autographs were really thoughtfully planned, so it never felt like you had to choose between experiences or sprint around like a redshirt on an away mission. We still managed to attend most of the talks while enjoying the autograph and photo sessions properly.

The event struck a really nice balance as well - clearly designed for fans first, but still very welcoming and comfortable to attend with children. (or babies, as some did! :) ).

The hotel itself is a brilliant venue choice for this type of event; compact enough that everything feels close together, with the bar and social areas always nearby, which really helps the atmosphere feel friendly and relaxed. We stayed in slightly cheaper hotel a short walk away from the main event one.

What really stands out at Starfury though is the community feel. The staff were incredibly friendly throughout, and I particularly love how they encourage guests to get involved and spend a little time helping as part of the team. It creates a much more social and welcoming atmosphere rather than just feeling like a commercial convention.

Communication throughout the lead-up and during the event was also excellent. As plans evolved, updates were always clear and reassuring, which makes a huge difference when attending with family.

Safe to say me and the kids are already eagerly awaiting Warp 3. :)

Had high hopes but I found the experience draining. It’s a weird set up. I’m used to being able to get autographs whenever you like as long as they are at the table. This is split half one day, half the next. That room is small and it gets hot, you can easily be stood in there for close to 2 hours which even for able bodied people could be difficult. They do have a buddy system though so if you flag it up with a staff member then you can sit at the back. The down side is more alone time and you miss out on the queue conversation which is the only time a stranger/friend you haven’t met yet will actually speak to you.

You do get free entry to talks and ceremonies which is nice. I found the panels just lacked something? William Shatner comes to mind. Maybe it’s a case of you get what you put into it?

I’m disabled so really struggled and I’m really not a people person. There wasn’t a whole lot of seating outside the panel area. So it was a case of use it or lose it. I didn’t know anyone and it seemed if you didn’t go in a pre-established group then you got left alone. So really with the talks being boring and not knowing anyone it was isolating, you felt left out. It would have been nice to see other bits about to do. I was of a mixed opinion on the event myself felt it lacked something. A master of ceremonies would probably be helpful in the future to help steer talks because yes they were 😴

What I did find distasteful actually occurred after the event? Someone left a negative review and I agree with a good portion of what was said but rather than the company just quietly acknowledge it they took to their Facebook event page where then the individual was called out for having an opinion? The shock, horror of it, like 1 person out of 500 so attendees didn’t like the event. but that behaviour just sealed it for me. This company allowed its event platform and core fan base to essentially go to town like a band of rabid dogs because someone didn’t like the event. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Them using a platform in that way or allowing others to hijack it tells me everything I need to know?

So post a negative review at your peril? Because they will use their platform to drag you and apparently kids through the mud. From what I saw most children were well behaved, quiet and had their own entertainment in the form of tablets or phones.

A great weekend at an 'old school' type residential convention. Great atmosphere, great guests, and the people attending just make it a joy. The organisers worked tirelessly to put on an amazing weekend. Sign me up to the next one.

Great Events. I've only had the chance to partecipate at One Vampire Ball and the recent Warp 2, but given the possibility, I'd definitely come to another event by Starfury. Staff and guests have been great and it's been lots of fun. Kudos to Sean and the entire Starfury family.

Attended both warp 2 and warp 1.
Love both weekends, you get so much value for your money compaired to other trek conventions. I like the old school hotel con vibe.
The staff and volunteers are all super helpful, the photo shoots and autographs are so well organised. The friday night meet and greets for gold ticket is a great op to meet the others and get to know other attendes. Went with some friends and made a dozen new friends.
I really hope we get a warp 3!

Still waiting on a refund from photos of previous conventions. Seems to owner is happy to cling on to our funds than give the refund we require.
I have had to arrange with my credit card company for a refund because of the unscruploous actions of Sean Harry

Warp 2 was an amazing convention

Although there are tiered tickets and add ons, the event never feels like the best bits are behind a paywall

I've been to both Star Trek Warp events and loved them! They're way more chill than your average convention. Once you get how it works, it's a super relaxed and friendly con. The staff are really helpful, and there's a good mix of guests. I'm definitely going again!

WARP 2
Very well organised. Staff and volunteers were all brilliant. Went to the talks, some of them were hilarious. Met loads of people and have loads of new friends.
The highlight for me has to be the parties. Dancing and drinking till 2am.

We had an amazing weekend at warp 2. The event was very well organised with very friendly staff and volunteers.
We made some new friends at the event and caught up with some past friends.
Warp 2 was so nice and relaxed no rushing about to get photo ops or autographs. So much better than other conventions. The quest panels were brilliant to listen to. Thank you to the main hall team who set up accessible are for my wife. Thank you to Sean Harry for putting on the convention and hope for many more warp (Star trek) conventions in the future.

I've been going to Starfury since the 90s. These are the best cons I've done. Few guests means you can have a weekend spent with friends socialising and still meet some of the actors from shows. The parties in the evening make it so much better, we've even had guests join us in the parties. I've got friends that I made through these cons, and I've known them for more than 20 years. It feels like home when I'm there. Please don't listen to the haters.

Just back from Starfury Warp 2 and what an experience it’s been. Really well run, great guests and a level of interaction with them all weekend that you just don’t get from other types of signing shows. I’ve done these hotel style weekend events for many years but this was only my third Starfury event as they’ve only recently started catering to fandoms I’m passionate about. I’ve nothing but praise for everything about the way they’re run. The pricing is amazing - the entry ticket is for all 3 days, includes all the panels and autographs with several of the guests with the chance to buy additional autos if you want to meet everyone there and the prices of autos and photos often blows other events away like for like. The staff can’t do enough to help you. The activities are well paced and with a real emphasis on community - if you go on your own you won’t be alone for long (unless you particularly wanted to be!) as everyone is so friendly and inclusive. I’ve seen others criticise the hotel/weekend style of the event but frankly I just don’t understand why you’d buy a ticket to an event you don’t like the style of and then moan about it. Seems really disingenuous to me. These aren’t signing shows so if that’s what you’re looking for then probably best to stay away. Otherwise it’s like going to see Barry Manilow in concert and then complaining it wasn’t like Take That.

This was my first starfury con since 2007! I loved them back in the day & when I knew that they were putting on a Star Trek con, I was fully back in. Unfortunately I couldn’t come to warp 1 due to it being the weekend before my wedding, so I was even more keen to come to warp 2.
It really didn’t disappoint. The guests were amazing, the vibe was incredible & all of the staff were so helpful.
I loved the hotel too - great location.
Will definitely come to another warp con, if we’re lucky enough to get one.

Absolutely banging!

Warp 2 was my 3rd Starfury with my adult daughter and we had a fantastic time at all of them. The guests, while not "stars" were so amusing and entertaining. My daughter sat in on every Q&A, I missed 2 because I was still tired from the party the previous night !!! We dont go for the autographs or the photographs but we have a great time without them. Please do a Warp 3, in the meantime we'll see some of you at Ascension. I might have learnt the line dances by then

Warp 2 is my first starfury event. The whole weekend was amazing. Great guests, great talks and the people attending are all welcoming! Did have a little mix up as ive never been before and dont check social media while im at events. But the Autographs are split on the days in two rounds for gold and regular tickets but didn't mention in the schedule or email and just had the schedule which i presumed was just anyone both days and i was painted blue on the Saturday so planned to get all done on sunday so i didn't get paint on anything. 😅 But the staff were very accommodating and managed to sort out once I approached them and explained.
The hotel was a perfect layout for the convention and plenty of places to sit and lounge to talk to friends.

Im hoping there will be another event in the future.

We had a great time at Warp 2! The guests were lovely, entertaining and hilarious. It was really well organised and the stewards were friendly and helpful. The Renaissance hotel is a great venue, plenty of space to socialise and places to sit and relax. I really hope we get a Warp 3!!

This company has had so many issues over the years. Cancelled conventions with no refunds. Sean Harry bans people who question anything said.
If you have purchased anything on credit card go via your credit card provider for a refund. He is using excuses to get out of the refund.

Warp 2 was my first Starfury event. I have been attending other Star Trek events and comic cons for years, and I can honestly say this really impressed me. It was really well organised, the staff were so helpful, the format of the event was fantastic (photos in the morning, followed by autograph sessions and then Q&As), the Renaissance hotel at Heathrow was a lovely venue to hold it in, the hotel room I shared with my friend was great. Shout out to the trade stall outside the main hall who sold me some nice goodies. The cosplay parade was really fun! The guests all seemed to be genuinely impressed with the organisation and and how well they had been looked after. The closing ceremony was especially lovely, because it really felt like a celebration of the weekend we'd had with the guests and our Trek community, there was a great focus on thanking all the people that had helped to make the weekend possible and it didn't just feel like an exercise in selling tickets for the next con (like other closing ceremonies at other events tend to be!). Overall, fantastic. Would highly recommend. I really hope there can be a Warp 3 at some point :)
