Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 2,709 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with products, citing issues like poor organization, damaged or inedible items, and concerns about quality and use-by dates. Customers frequently encountered unhelpful and dismissive customer service, finding it difficult to resolve complaints or receive proper communication. The general service was often criticized for being unreliable, with reports of missed or failed deliveries. However, some customers also noted positive interactions with individual staff members, describing them as friendly and helpful. Conversely, a few people felt that staff could be rude or unhelpful. While some appreciated the politeness of delivery drivers, others experienced significant issues like late arrivals, damaged goods, or non-delivery.

Has anyone ever been able to speak to…

Has anyone ever been able to speak to anyone on the telephone or get a reply to an email? I have a problem logging in and need someone to sort out what is going on. IMPOSSIBLE. Telephone takes you down a circuitous route with no one at the end. Also, nothing related to login problems. Constantly tells you everything can be sorted on line - which you cannot. Also you have to login to your account to do things - but I cannot get in. Sent email to complaints but zilch response. Sainsbury's here I come.

Jobsworth in Olney Tesco

Subject: Formal Complaint: Highly Unprofessional Conduct by Staff Member (Anna) - Olney High Street
Dear Tesco Customer Service Team,
I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding the rude and completely unprofessional attitude of a staff member named Anna at your Olney High Street store.
On Tuesday, 7th July at approximately 11:00 AM, I walked into the shop with my dad. He was purchasing a lottery ticket for himself and casually asked me to pick a number. I said "7". At this point, Anna became incredibly confrontational and snapped, "Oh, there’s been an intervention, I can’t serve you now."
While I am aware of store policies regarding age-restricted items, her hostile attitude and bizarre "woke intervention" phrasing were entirely uncalled for. She looked a bit lost when I told her my age and blanked out. Clearly she had some issues . She made an unnecessary scene, walked off to get a manager to take over the transaction, and the manager then asked for ID from me—even though I was not the person buying the ticket.
There is a massive difference between following a store policy and being a rude "jobsworth" who ruins a customer's shopping trip. Anna desperately needs a lesson in basic customer service and how to speak to people politely without bringing an attitude to the checkout.
Please pass this directly to the Olney High Street Store Manager so they can review the checkout staff's behavior on today's shift. I expect Tesco staff to remain professional, and I look forward to hearing how this matter is being handled. Thank you

Shop and scan is too stressful

We wrote to customers service regarding issues with shop and scan to be told that it is normal to recheck shopping on occasion.
However, we have had to be rechecked three times in the last three shop and scan. We have had to recheck our shopping and then repack which is hugely inconvenient especially for seniors with disability. It defeats the whole purpose of object of this system. Head office seem disinterested. We will stop shopping in Tesco as it is too stressful to shop and scan. Incidentally, our ice cream melted as the whole process took too long.

In my partners opinion they are all a bunch of racists, bought 3 packs of cold remedy, they told me at the till I was only allowed two packs per customer, I was with my partner who is Chinese, so said no problem she can buy the third, but didn't recognise her as a customer.
Was this because she was Chinese, would it be the same if she was black.
We both have colds and one pack of the item is 1 day supply.

DIABOLICAL DELIVERY SERVICE

Absolutely disgusted with the delivery driver today. When I complained that the fabric softener had leaked all over the food in the basket, the delivery driver said that I was shouting. THE TESCO DELIVERY LIED. I informed him that I was not shouting but annoyed that it had happened. Obviously, because of the Tesco driver's attitude, I was not prepared to accept my delivery especially when he told me it does happen!!! It should not happen. You should never put washing products with food and as Tesco don't seem bothered how they pack the food that I pay for, then, I will take my business elsewhere. Clearly, Tesco don't send their staff on training courses because had he apologised for the inconvenience it had caused me, instead of getting defensive, I may have accepted the rest if the order. If that is the calibre of staff Tesco employs these days, then, I will take my business elsewhere. And, that Tesco delivery driver can't deny the aforementioned because I have ring doorbell which will prove this statement is correct.

My local horsham branch at broadbridge…

My local horsham branch at broadbridge heath has seriously gone downhill.
I used scan as you go. Needed it checked. The obnoxious girl who came over refused to speak. Scanned items. Threw my eggs back into my bag. Then threw the scanner into a basket and marched off. In serious need of customer service training. Will lose customers if that is the kind of staff they employ

Firstly delivery drivers are generally very nice and helpful although id say only 20% would offer to help bring trays through into the house. As someone with a disability the offer would be most welcome 🙏
Items are often unavailable or substituted. If you are ordering in advance why does this happen? Cant you factor your online orders into your supply chain?!

In their desire to reduce plastic waste they are increasing food waste! Bags often leak, dips and creams cant be resealed and hence go off almost immediately. Use by dates seem to be arbitrary. Seriously seeking an alternative supermarket!!

Extremely poor customer service - will never shop from Tesco again

Had to stop being a customer after years of spending hundreds monthly.

1. They notified me they wouldn’t deliver on time
2. I called to say this didn’t work for me due to meetings and they could deliver on time or after 5 pm. I was told the driver would call me.
3. The driver never called so I had to call at 2:50 again, given as explained to them I was unavailable from 3-5. They said the driver was planning on calling between 3-5…
4. They said they couldn’t deliver on time or after 5 pm leaving my two toddlers without dinner.
5. When I said I need to be compensated they said they don’t do compensation and they also lied that they tried to deliver on time at 2:10. That’s a lie as I was here, plus it can be proven since nobody attempted a call.

Well done, I have now cancelled my delivery saver and you will lose £300 a month for saving yourself £5-£10 in compensation.

Nichola was fab

I went to tesco at Durham today and the help and politeness of Nichola in the F&F section was top class. It was such a nice refreshing change as it’s not always been the most positive or polite experiences in there lately but Nichola was fab and deserves recognition for her efforts.

Their pensions department is as bad as…

Tesco Pensions Department is even worse their supermarkets! They don't deserve a single star.
I was sent a retirement quote MONTHS AGO and swiftly returned the paperwork, only for them to reply just THREE WEEKS BEFORE MY RETIREMENT DATE teling me they'd miscalculated, sending me ANOTHER quote which is less than HALF the original calculation, and by the time they got around to informing me of this, the pension due date had passed. Also I had made provisions based on the original quote which I cannot revoke!
Why couldn't they have let me know immediately?
So now my pension payment entitlement has more than HALVED, the original payment date has been delayed, and I'm suffering hardship due to their incompetence!
I now have to wait at least another 6 weeks for a payment. They have ONE job and cannot even carry that out accurately!
I also spoke to a guy on the enquiries line who said he would notify the administrator to expect a call, then I was told by someone else that there is no phone number they can give out .
All I've received from them are lies, total ineptitude, obfuscation and zero accountability.
Not surprised they don't reply to reviews. They should be ashamed.
UPDATE 17/7/26 They promised that the lump sum would be in my account today, both by email and letter. It isn't.
