Extremely poor customer service

Extremely poor customer service. We ordered three books and Thalia sent that as two packages. We got one package and the second package is missing. We called Thalia and DHL multiple times. After waiting for a few days, up on the request from DHL, they told us that Thalia should request the investigation process (Nachforshungantrag), so they can follow up on this missing package. However, Thalia refuses to request the investigation process, and told us to call again! or call DHL again. I recommend to buy from somewhere else (like Amazon) with a good customer service.

Good and easy service for click and collect!

I ordered 2 books of short stories by Anton Chekov in English. The books were ready to pick up 2 days later, as promised and the price was the same as I would pay in the UK for one of them and quite a lot CHEAPER for the other one. Easy to order and pick up, very impressed by Thalia’s service.

late delivery

I ordered a book on July 2nd and it was noted that it should arrive in 2-3 business days. This was critical for me since I was starting a course on July 7th. I was informed that it was shipped by Thalia on 3rd. However, it didnt come timely. I asked them to check the process and expedite it. The only respond that I got is that this can happen and I have to wait. (I also suggested them to cancel the order and I can find it somewhere else) I received the book today almost at the half of the course. I know that this is related to cargo company but it should have better managed by Thalia.

Wir bedauern, dass die Lieferung nicht zeitnah zugestellt wurde und möchten uns dafür entschuldigen.

Die Bestellung wurde am 03.07.2025 der Post zur Auslieferung übergeben. Hin und wieder können jedoch aufgrund des hohen Sendungsaufkommens Verzögerungen bei der Zustellung auftreten.

Hierauf haben wir leider keinen Einfluss.

Wenn die Zeit knapp ist empfehlen wir eine Abholung in einer unser Buchhandlung von Thalia. Dann ist die Lieferzeit in den meisten fällen kürzer.

As well as it can be

The ordering process goes really well, lots of books to choose from in very affordable prices. I love that the books are also sold in original languages like English for example! Ordered 3 times so far, a total of 5 books. Will definitely order more. Books come well packed and in pristine condition. Thank you Thalia team!

Shoping with Thalia is easy

Shoping with Thalia is easy. As well online as in the stores.
The stores are inviting and offer books and little thingies to fossick about.
Simply put: It's a nice experience.

Terrible customer service and experience

I bought a couple of books from them. One of the books they claimed the payment had not gone through, which then they asked me to pay and I did. I sent them the proof of payment, but they claimed the money was transferred back to me (I NEVER received the payment back) so they asked me to pay again, which I did AGAIN. I had to pay twice for a book and their customer service is a joke, never answering and when they do answer they answer other things.

Not again

I was a very loyal customer for some years until some weeks ago, that I almost landed in the bad creditor department (Inkasso), because my return was not credited in time and then my payment was also not processed for so long (at least 2+ weeks), that I received a written final warning before court. Then they charged me for the warning (Mahnung), even If it wasn't my fault for the delays. I used to order more than 50 books per year, but after that I immediately canceled every open preorder and I will not be a returning customer again.

My experience with Thalia

This is my second experience with Thalia online. The first was disappointing: I didn't receive my book, and I wasn't even informed that my order had been cancelled.
This time, everything went perfectly. I received my books in excellent condition, on time and as described online. So I'm very pleased with this experience. I wish you all the best for the future.

Hugely inflexible company

Hugely inflexible company. I tried to order a calendar to be delivered to Sweden as a Christmas present, offering to pay for any extra postage, but the answer was a categorical ‘no’. Ridiculous, in this day and age. Such shame!

I received the reply below from Thalia. Logistics partner?!?! We are talking about posting, literally posting, a calendar! Seriously?!?
