Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 93 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found that there were discrepancies between advertised and final prices, and some even reported finding better deals by booking directly with hotels. Customers also frequently encountered issues with the booking process, including a lack of confirmation emails, incorrect hotel reservations, and difficulties with cancellation and refund processing. The minority of people were dissatisfied with the website's functionality, noting a lack of essential filters and difficulties in contacting customer support, often leading to unresolved queries and generic responses. Some people also felt that the payment process was problematic, with instances of multiple charges or difficulties where hotels reportedly did not receive payments, despite customers having paid in full.

Kind words go a long way.

Once again I returned to Vodafone banbury to be met with big smile and how are you today.
Brilliant! But also to be remembered by Paul and Ewan after they helped me so much with my billing and photos doing silly stuff.
When Paul explained what he had done I Thanked him for everything.
When you go in to these shops and your cross that you appliances don't work properly. Just remember they didn't make them go wrong. They are there to help put them right. Take time to be Kind to them and let them help you. Don't shout and scream at them, be human and mindful.
Brilliant work lads keep it up.
Very Happy Customer.

Substandard to superb

We were able to move from a very substandard hotel in sliema," the sliema port Hotel" to one we found at short notice on trivago, Porto Azzurro in st Pauls Bay Malta.
I phoned direct and Madelina was so helpful with our problem we had a super value suite for a very reasonable price. Fabulous.

A wedding at the Cromwell…

Attended a wedding at the Cromwell Hotel in Stevenage, the hotel was top class in everything that happened during my stay. The room, staff, food and service were exceptional, the restaurant has had a major refurbishment, and it looks great, no complaints whatsoever.

I booked a non refundable room

I booked a non refundable room. I checked the date was correct before reserving . When I booked it came up as the wrong date.
I either loose my money or pay a substantial amount for the correct date.
The hotel know this is a problem as there is a voice message telling you , you can change the date by paying for your correct date!
I think the website needs to be changed so if it is the wrong date it can be rectified .

Very bad experience when things go wrong with the booking

My son and his friends booked a holiday to Morocco only to find that the hotel they had a booking for had no knowledge of the booking and no availability, when they arrived, even though they had received confirmation of the booking by email. I had to contact the booking agent and have spent the whole day back and forth trying to get an alternative booking confirmed. It’s taken most of the day today and my son and his friends are still without a room even though they accepted the offer of an alternative an hour and a half ago. Trivago helpcenter directs you to the booking agent, but there is no recourse when the booking agent has failed to do their job.

It’s been extremely stressful and I have no idea what the outcome will be. My advice would be to use a more reliable website or app to book holidays with.

Do not use Trivago

Do not use! Trivago knowingly promote companies such as Algotel and @Travel_Up that take travellers money then deliberately do not pass it on to the hotels. We got stung by Algotel, then found out that hundreds of others have had the same experience. Trivago know about this this but are not interested, are not bothered in helping you when you have been scammed and keep promoting them. I used to think companies found on the Trivago site were trustworthy but they are not. DONT USE THEM.

Be careful, booked imperial hotel Llandudno but once we paid the booking stated that we had booked the imperial in Blackpool- fault within the system ?????

We’ve been on the trivago uk site this evening found a hotel called the imperial in Llandudno all of the details and price were as we expected, having stayed there before but when we paid the booking came up as the imperial hotel in Blackpool 😡
We’ve now got to try and get back the money paid as we certainly do not want to go to Blackpool given that our plans was to visit Llandudno
Fault in the system which means we are left with the issues relating to getting a refund. We went back into the system and yes the search starts in Llandudno but once payment has been received it transfers the booking to Blackpool
Please Check this out trivago ………. It good for your customers

AVOID TRIVAGO & ALGOTELS

Trivago keep using and recommending a company called algotels. You click on the link from trivago and think you are booking a genuine hotel room. This is obviously a scam company set out to harvest personal and financial data. Taken money from my credit card, yet they dont have the hotel i tried to book. Trivago, you need to blacklist these, and blacklist them NOW. otherwise your company will have as many bad reviews as algotels and its very much deserved

Advertise a price that doesn't exist

Searched for hotels in Birmingham, picked the Ibis at £35. However when you click through you cannot book it for £35 - was over 3 X higher price. Complained to Trivago, but they won't honour the price...... Customer service was rubbish!

Island Inn is a quant (run down)…

Island Inn is a quant (run down) 24-room, All Inclusive property situated less than a mile from the centre of Historic Bridgetown and within the Garrison Area — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hotel is footsteps away from the beach at the beautiful Carlisle Bay and Pebbles Beach where the horses come and bathe early morning, and is conveniently close to shops and restaurants.

Island Inn will amaze you ( it certainly did) with its disarming simplicity ( antiquated )and old world charm (run down) it was originally built as the rum storage facility for the British regiment in Barbados in 1804! Take advantage of your free scuba diving demo in the (leaking) pool before hitting the big blue, discovering an underwater world that’s just as beautiful as what lies above! The leaking swimming pool makes a change from the beach and is a charming place to lounge and snuggle very closely beside other guests ,soaking up the sun, reading a good book or just getting so drunk you can’t speak. There’s also The Boardwalk Restaurant for eclectic ( indescribable food) dining, serving dishes regarded as very ‘special’ by locals who refer to this hotel as a residential home for elderly)and guests alike. Evenings tend to be very low key although there is live music three times a week plus a weekly manager’s rum punch party to meet and mingle with other paralytic, rude , aggressive fellow guests.

24 stylish ( nothing stylish about a standard room) rooms and suites on 1 level. All with air-conditioning, TV ( broken remote)telephone, invisible alarm clock/radio, invisible iPod docking station, broken safe, tea/coffee-making facilities, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Standard Rooms are located in the original historic building and hasn’t been renovated since 1980’s when photos advertising the hotel were taken and have either garden (wasteland )or courtyard views, with 1 king-size bed, ( 2 singles put together) sleeping maximum 2 people.
All Inclusive of: English breakfast, consisting of something resembling powered egg, scrambled, but keeping poached and fried a secret unless you ask, frankfurters, tinned mushrooms and if your lucky , baked beans.lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. All local brand drinks except for speciality wines/Champagne which were never offered or seen. All entertainment and activities above unless stated otherwise.

Dress code: at the ‘Boardwalk’ (bit of old decking), Restaurant (year-round) the evening dress code is smart casual which means that gentlemen may wear smart dress shorts and short sleeved shirts (polo shirts are allowed). Please note that no sports replica shirts or club branded merchandise are allowed at dinner.  Smart jeans are allowed. No flip flops or trainers are allowed in the evening in the restaurant.
Cover-ups are required unless you’re a returning guest and then you can wear what you like in the restaurant for breakfast and lunch and footwear is required in the restaurant at all times.
Please note: although the dress code has been relaxed at this hotel, there may still be some occasions at the hotel and on the island where long trousers and shirt sleeves will be more appropriate or compulsory for gentlemen, so it is highly recommended to still pack some.
If you miss breakfast for a lay in , someone will phone your room, wake you up to ask if you’re attending breakfast. If you chose to eat out, someone with attempt to phone your room and then bang on your door to ask if you’re coming for dinner an hour after last sitting finished.

Another delicious Sunday lunch

We often go to the Half Moon pub and restaurant in Llanelli for our Sunday lunch as we love it there. The meal is always top notch, with the choice of beef, pork, or turkey. The vegetables are always hot and tasty, and the staff are super friendly too, especially Holly!
