Never buy a Vauxhall under any circumstances.

Vauxhall Astra Sport bought September 2018. Mileage to date 16,462. Problem with clutch pedal not returning when pressed. Phoned dealer Ballyrobert Motors in County Down and advised to e mail Vauxhall which I did on 18 August 2025. Not responding I contacted the dealer who advised me instead to phone 0800 026 0034 which I did and issued with a case number, nothing heard since. Vauxhall were aware of this problem but I was never offered a recall.

Car arrived with two faults

Car arrived with two faults. Fixed under warranty but both times the Vauxhall garage damaged my car. Spent weeks sorting it out which involved going to the garage several times, speaking on the phone, emailing. The whole thing was a total nightmare as had someone from Vauxhall done their job of checking quality before it was sent to a dealership I would not be in this position. Spoke to customer services who took absolutely no responsibility. Offered an apology with zero substance to it and no redress was offered. A total disgrace of a company and would never buy a Vauxhall again.

Vauxhall customer service extremely poor

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the appalling level of service I have received from Eden Vauxhall Fareham. My experience has been unacceptable on every level, and I feel compelled to document this in the strongest professional terms.
The issue began with a diagnostic appointment for which I was charged £150. Following this, I was required to return for a second visit due to a part that had been ordered. Unfortunately, the wrong part was supplied. This led to a third visit, during which I was informed that a new component – a cable harness – would now be required, meaning a fourth visit is necessary.
This level of inefficiency and lack of attention to detail is completely unacceptable from a main dealer. Not only has this wasted my time and money, but it has also caused significant inconvenience and frustration.
I attempted to resolve the issue by speaking with your service manager, Ian. Regrettably, this conversation did not provide any clarity or assurance that the matter would be dealt with promptly or competently. In fact, it only reinforced the impression of disorganisation and a lack of accountability within your service department.
I can confidently say this has been the worst customer service experience I have encountered at any dealership. “Useless” does not begin to describe the level of incompetence I have faced.
I expect a formal response to this complaint, along with a clear and immediate plan to resolve the outstanding issues without further cost or delay to myself.

Been without a vehicle for the full summer holidays

My Vauxhall Grandland X is 4 brought it 15 months ago drove it in the afternoon out come evening to go home the car would not start. Been advised its the wetbelt and requires a full new engine costing over £7000. Car fully serviced provided Vauxhall with all the details was promised an outcome last Monday still nothing. First Vauxhall ever owned and will not be purchasing another absolutely gutted but would just appreciate an outcome from Vauxhall to note premature wetbelt failure is a known fault. This is our households only car so no car for the kids full summer holidays had to cancel a holiday to Cornwall I have rang Vauxhall so many times and very often get told I'm next to be called back but no one ever rings.
06/09/2025 update...
Still not spoken to my case worker Nina at Vauxhall called daily for a week where she was ill on holiday and training. Was advised Vauxhall Pentagon Derby where my car was taken to on the 31st July and remains isn't providing them with my service history offered to send it myself as I have the information was informed Nina would email me and hasn't. Not surprised really. So still no update, I have even gone back to Pentagon Vauxhall for an update and now they are not responding all I want is an answer so I can decide on my next steps such as scrap the car, find somewhere to fix it or if Vauxhall pay a % fix through them!!! I literally just want to talk to someone who is adult enough to give me an open and honest outcome.
26/09/2025 - Update so the car is still in the garage my husband received a call from them to say Vauxhall had a final decision they could not tell the garage the outcome but we were "on the call list" never got called so I called the lady was rude shouting I can't understand you and hung up. She did call me back and said due to my car being serviced independently I needed to provide additional information they need my garage to provide a invoice with part numbers on, oil grading and quantity. I asked if these were legal requirements on a car service invoice as none of my services hold that information she didn't know asked what if the garage only retains that information for 6 months my service was over 6 months now as I've waited 2 months to be told this no answer. I have informed them if they are knowingly requesting the impossible and if I provide provide this information then how long do I wait she couldn't told me. I advised her I will look into scrapping the car she said we strongly advised not scrapping so has been reminded the car is useless I am the only person in the house who can drive and currently owns and is paying for 2 cars. I had to purchase a new one!!! Numerous times I've called vauxhall and get told different things get tile need to talk to my case handlers in all this I've spoken to 2 case handlers not the same person so again more lies. Please never get involved with Vauxhall..... the garage I purchased my new car at said they aren't allowed to sell on my Grandland model due to all the issues they have. On a positive I'm skint but loving my Nissan

Absolutely awful - do not get a Vauxhall under any circumstances

Absolutely awful. Do not purchase a Vauxhall EVER. Their cars are not fit for purpose. Customer service is non existent, they will avoid helping you at all costs and they do not care about loyal customers. First my Vauxhall grandland was recalled due to a wet belt problem. Never got it back in the end. Second purchase, a Vauxhall mokka is leaking oil after owning it for less than 2 years. The car itself is not 4 years old yet. Word of mouth will put Vauxhall out of business looking at all these terrible reviews. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

I have Vauxhall Mokka X car - seems like manufacture faults

I have Vauxhall Mokka X automatic car and currently has about 19,000 miles.
I serviced my car with the Vuaxhall dealer every year so well maintained and low mileage car.

I was shocked to know that my water Pump had a fault and water was leaking from Antifreeze/coolant tank. It cost me £670.00 in May 2025. I checked the reviews and came to know that it has manufacture fault and it has happened to many customers. Again it was leaking today and this time Antifreeze/coolant tank had a crack and cost me £90.00 to get a replacement. I am very disappointed.

I trusted Vauxhall make but it seems like they are using cheap parts so please be careful before purchasing this car!

2 yr old electric Vauxhall combo broke…

2 yr old electric Vauxhall combo broke down only 6 months after I bought it off them. Got towed to local garage who then took about 6 weeks to work out what wrong with it. Had to talk to a tech team in France. Needs a complete new wiring loom. Originally tol would need the £5000 ish to repair it…they had t checked with the warranty people first. It is covered. Now been told no likelihood in near future of that part being made and fitted so can have car back. Stuck. Customer service appalling. No one will admit knowing anything of when may be due, who is making it or how long the priority waiting list is. Employees in local garage seem ok but can’t seem to chase up. Official complaint to Vauxhall gets a ‘thank you for yr patience’.
Will NEVER buy a Vauxhall again.

40k miles…Wet belt fault & car no longer starts

Vauxhall customer service are useless, was given a case ref number but no correspondence and was told it would be up to FIVE working days for a response when I’m left with a broken car at no fault of my own. I have to drive to get to work due to the nature of my job and the hours I work - it’s not physically possible to get public transport so I’m expected just to not work for five days????

Avoid getting any Vauxhall, Pergeout and Citroen, all under the same company Stellantis. They have the same pure tech engines which use a wet belt. All you have to do is read the reviews on here and you’ll see majority of them are to do with wet belt faults! Whoever thought of using a wet belt needs to be sacked, look at all the issues. Vauxhall state it should last 60k miles or 6 years before needing changed…my car just turned 5 years and has only just hit 40k miles. Thankfully, I took out a service plan with Snows Vauxhall garage when I bought the car, they’re under the impression if my wet belt is the cause of my car no longer starting, I should be covered under the extended warranty since a Vauxhall garage has done all my services which were on time. Do make sure you go to a proper garage if you do buy one of these useless cars, at least you’ll have a better chance of being covered by warranty although I’m sure they will still try and wriggle out of it.
This is my second Vauxhall and will sadly be the last due to an issue that should never have happened, 0 warnings either by the way! It was driving completely fine and then when I went to get back into my car it no longer worked. Not what you’d expect with a car that isn’t even old.

EDIT: it’s been 2 weeks and I’ve still heard absolutely nothing from Vauxhall. To add, my garage said the wet belt is covered (Snows Vauxhall) so this was replaced and my car still won’t start properly. Now being told it’s likely the WHOLE ENGINE needs replacing. I’m absolutely appalled that a car that’s only just five years and only just done 40k miles needs such a major fix…. Luckily been told warranty will cover this. Will get rid of the car soon as it is fixed. There is no way a car should need a new engine so early on, also to highlight the fact that there was no warning signs or issues before this, my car just stopped working. Garage claim they have no courtesy cars available so I’m expected to just stay home all day everyday? I’m disabled and can’t get about easily and do not have any other means to get to work due to the nature of my job. Please do yourself a favour and do not purchase a Vauxhall, it will just cause you weeks of stress.

Further update: now been told the engine isn’t covered under warranty but no reason was given as to why the claim was rejected. The engine only needs replacing as the wet belt has degraded and clogged it up which is a manufacturing fault so they should therefore be covering the engine replacement! Been qouted 6k + VAT when my car is only worth around 9k now. Customer service at Vauxhall has been nonexistent, haven’t had a single call back from whoever my case handler is. Would’ve been nice to even receive a call or email from whoever is dealing with it just to say they are looking into it. I’ve phoned them 4 times today having being told someone will phone me back to then being told the phone lines are down in that department so I will get a call back on Tuesday, guess I’ll wait and see if that call ever happens. Shocking non existent customer care or accountability. Will not ever be purchasing a Vauxhall or any Stelantis vehicle for that matter, ever again.

Avoid Vauxhall - Cars not fit for purpose

Avoid Vauxhall - they are clearly using substandard materials when building their cars and ripping customers off!
We purchased a Corsa, its now less than 5 years old not yet did 30,000 miles, is well maintained and looked after with full service history and it has just failed it MOT - on its emissions. It requires a full new exhaust system - I was advised by Arnold Clark (whom we bought car from) that this could be due to the environment we keep the car - when I politely detailed that 2 other cars sit in the exact same drive way and travel the exact same roads, are older than the Corsa and have more miles than the Corsa but do not require full new exhausts he couldn't answer or explain. The exhaust system required is out of stock with the only option to buy straight from Vauxhall - approx cost £800 + VAT + the fitting cost - absolutely absurd pricing and extortion. On top of this it also has an intermittent fault - which we have been told is resistance in the wiring loom and that this will need to be replaced - approx £129 + VAT + fitting cost. Looking online this seems a recurrent issue with Vauxhall suggesting again sub standard parts that are not fit for purpose.
Reading through reviews - not isolated issues or one offs, systematic failures throughout the whole process, cost cutting that's costing US!!!
Never had a car this young requiring so much work at such an inflated costs, will never buy Vauxhall again and could never recommend.

Awful service

1 year old electric car andnit broke down. RAC refused to recover as they said you only get 1 year despite EV's should have 3 years recovery. Customer service still saying they are awaiting a response from RAC. No ownership of the problem from Vauxhall. Car still in garage and they dont know what's wrong with it.

Don't go for a Motability vehicle

Awful experience, will never get another vehicle from them. The vehicle wasn't even the "default" specification they had on their website,
The Motability "specialist" threatened to not take our order because I wasn't happy that he stated VAUXHALL actually PROHIBITS adding items to Motability vehicles that we would have been paying for ourselves and told us he "only gets £50 per Motability vehicle and it's not worth the hassle".
Tried speaking to their "customer service " who don't speak very good English and deliberately 'misunderstood' what I was saying and tried to shift the blame to Motability and refused to help.
Avoid them like the plague! In my opinion, they are overpriced for what you get and staffed by nasty individuals who couldn't give a damn about customers or customer service.

Cars are not fit for purpose

I bought a vauxhall corsa two years ago, and there is major problems with the timing belt. After reading online that this appears to be a common problem I contacted vauxhall to ask for help towards the repair bill which is approximately £800. I would have expected a 3 year old car not to have such a large repair they asked for evidence to show that my car had been serviced regularly which I provided. They have now come back to asking for the receipt for the oil that was used at the services (which I do not have) I would have thought the evidence the service book is stamped by a garage is enough proof. Anyway, they are not interested and have said they can't help. I would understand if this was a one off issue however, reading online this is an extremely common fault that vauxhall are aware off but, will not take any responsibility for. Please do not purchase a vauxhall car unless you want hefty garage repair bills the cars are not fit for purpose and the staff do not want to know.

Customer service is non-existent

I've had a deeply frustrating experience with Vauxhall Customer Services and feel completely let down. I've made numerous calls regarding a serious engine fault on my Grandland X, and each time the process has been exhausting and disheartening. It's not unusual to be on hold for up to an hour just to speak to someone, only to then be placed on hold again and on more than one occasion, I've been cut off entirely without warning or explanation. On several calls, I was promised a callback from either a senior member of the team or a relevant department, but those calls never came. I've had to chase them repeatedly, and the lack of communication and accountability has been incredibly stressful, especially given the seriousness of the issue with my car. I expected a much higher standard of support and care from a major manufacturer like Vauxhall, particularly when dealing with a potential manufacturer defect in a relatively young, low-mileage vehicle. Instead, I’ve been met with poor service, long delays, and a total lack of follow-through. This experience has left me with zero confidence in their customer care process.

My daughters car required air con re…

My daughters car required air con re gas despite being only 6 months old and having covered 3000 miles. Apparently this is not covered under warranty and she was charged £128 which is excessive also by Arnold Clark in Old Trafford.

Having contacted Vauxhall customer services and following multiple phone calls a manager named Nico finally spoke with me advising he would look in to this and resolve the issue. He would call back or mail. He actually areed this will be refunded. This call was on 23 June!

I am still waiting for a call from Vauxhall and have made multiple calls to the customer service department and been promised at least 10 times that the individual Nico will call back or a further manager will resolve this issue. I have been advised it had been confirmed the charges would be refunded however it is impossible to speak with any individual who can resolve this.

The front line reception people are useless and will not transfer calls have little grasp of the English language and are totally unprepared to deal with iussues.

Over 2 weeks and multiple phone calls this is still not resolved. I will never buy another Vauxhall due to appalling customer service.

Avoid at all costs.
