Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We had an emergency situation with our dog being bitten by another dog on a Sunday midday out of hours. We contacted the helpline who arranged our appointment and when we arrived we were seen immediately. I think we were lucky that it had happened early in the day so we didn't have to wait but also the staff were very good and dealt with us v professionally and efficiently.

Wish I could give more stars 🌟. This veterinary practice is second to none. Their care and compassion for my George was exemplary and my cat recovered with nursing support from Richard within a week. I can't thank Swansea Cat Clinic enough for saving George. Pricing is fair and a lot more reasonable than most vets. Thank you again for all your hard work and dedication to your job ❤️

Really empathetic and friendly staff given the situation, very tough as having to deal with a pet that had passed away.
Emma and Kelly were amazing and super helpful before, during and after when arranging cremation etc.

My dog had an out of the blue fit on a Saturday afternoon so I rang my vet and was referred to vets now as it was out of hours. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a very polite and pleasant receptionist and was called to see the vet within minutes. The vet glanced over my dog, took her temperature and that was it in regards to treatment. She briefly explained to me what could have caused the fit, seemed very uninterested in answering my questions, then gave me two options, take her home to monitor the situation or put her to sleep there and then. I have to state that my dog was 13 but had no health concerns before the fit. Safe to say I took her home feeling absolutely devastated but not before payment of course. I told them that I needed to claim on my insurance because who has a spare 275.00 just before Christmas. (Yes, that’s how much an out of hours consultation is. I understand they are a business as well as an animal care facility but that charge is just pure greed in my opinion) They added 25.00 insurance claim to that charge and told me I needed to pay the full amount and they would refund me once my insurance paid, I simply did not have it to give. Every evening since the appointment, I was called by vets now asking for payment and being told that I would get debt collectors if the invoice is not settled within the week. Though they seemed very keen to receive payment, they still managed to sit on my insurance claim for a full week! My insurers have always been brilliant and paid within a few days of getting the claim back. In a nut shell, I needed someone to care about my dog when my usual vets couldn’t and all I got was someone with the know how but not the willing to do so and I was charged nearly 300.00 for it.

I had a 7 week old puppy with a very bloated stomach and it was really hard to touch. He was lethargic and not moving. I think he had a very bad case of worms as he was so young, which can lead to other issues. so I rang emergency which I asked if it was worth him going down they insisted he had to go because of his age. So I was think I don’t mind paying extortionate prices even if it was for the injection. As long as he was his playful self again. I got there they checked him over and said he was fine. They don’t stock wormer there. Take him to your normal vet when they open. And charged me £288. On Christmas night aswell. I was absolutely devastated. Now I can’t afford to go to the normal vet aswell.

Terrible attitude off the vet when I arrived, more concerned about payment than treating my dog, when I took my dog to my vets the following day they were surprised with little treatment she had overnight there. I am looking into putting a formal complaint in.

Telephoned the out of hours vets for advice as my puppy had eaten some ibuprofen (well half a tablet). We were advised to come up asap. On arriving we were greeted by a lovely nurse who then got the vet to come explain what was happening. They gave Tilly an injection to make her sick and then gave some charcoal solution to come home with. Excellent service. The only downside was expense however it’s understandable as it was out of hours. Very pleased with the service we received. Tilly has made a full recovery. Thank you all.

It was so nice that my cat got the treatment he needed but, I do believe the staff lacked urgency, it’s so stressful when something happens to your pet, a little urgency helps !

Whilst on holiday one of my dogs required urgent vet treatment and took him to a vet in Gower where he was placed on a drip. That particular vet did not have a hospital facility and told me my dog needed to remain on a drip overnight but to do so I would need to take him to VetNow, which I did. I arrived at VetNow with a bag of meds that I’d paid the Gower vet for. VetNow took my dog and put him on the drip and took the meds off me to administer to my dog. The vet then told me the charge for a night in the hospital was estimated to be £450.00. Utterly shocked. A night with nursing care at the vet hospital where I live is £89.00 plus vat. I questioned this and was told that VetNow are ‘more highly qualified’. My husband asked if it included a fully cooked breakfast in the morning! I was then left in the waiting room so long waiting to pay the 50% deposit my husband had to go and wait in the car with our other dogs who we could hear barking, that I actually fell asleep. We arrived before 8:00 pm and didn’t leave until well after 10:00pm. Without any explanation whatsoever the charge was reduced to £340.00 when they found out I wasn’t insured. These charges cannot be justified. We had absolutely no choice but to leave our very sick dog with them even though we knew we were being financially exploited by this company.
