Dreadful

I should have read the Trust Pilot reviews before I placed the order as there seems to be a common thread in many of the reviews about poor plants and poor customer service. I ordered six rhubarb plants. The website said they would be supplied as “pot grown plants”. They were not. I received what looked like six pots of compost. One showed a mouldy looking crown on the surface. The others showed nothing. The only evidence of anything green was moss on the soil surface. I paid £28.50 and feel I have been robbed. I emailed a photograph and received a reply telling me to plant them as they would be fine, it was just that the frost had “knocked them back a little”. A little! It is my belief that the frost had killed them. I replied that under consumer rights I would like a refund. Again they wrote back telling me to plant them and report back in a month or two. I have planted them but feel I may as well have planted six £5 notes. I will report back to them in due course and in the unlikely event that I have six healthy rhubarb plants by then I will edit this review accordingly. If not I shall demand a refund and failing that will contact the credit card company. I would add that I only ordered these plants because only one of the four I bought last year survived the winter. The ones I bought last year were, however, lovely little rhubarb plants so I do not blame Victoriana for that.

Great company

I ordered a bay plant and am really pleased with it! It arrived in excellent condition and very healthy. I received communications from Victoriana, letting me know when my order was processed and shipped. I also really like their growing ethos. I will definitely buy from them again and recommend to others.

Poor plants and customer care

Poor plants and customer care. I bought 6 tomato plants. Plants arrived in very sorry state - very limp in very little, bone dry soil, with very little protection for transportation (in small box with shredded paper, no hydration ). I immediately planted them on arrival, and emailed them I was very disappointed with the state the plants arrived in. They asked me to plant them and keep them updated. The plants have remained sickly and after 2 weeks still look poorly. They feel that I am not happy no matter what they say, which is simply not true. They do not have any customer care or care for their product as far as I could tell. They wanted them re-potted again, new compost etc etc. But they do not accept any responsibility for the state they arrived in the first place. The plants I bought elsewhere are flourishing. I buy plants online regularly and have never had to complain before. Avoid. I would give a zero, in fact less than zero if I could.

Wouldn't use again

Ordered two fuchsias. They arrived promptly. Like other reviewers I was unimpressed by the quality. They where small, had moss on top of the soil and where root bound. You wouldn't buy these if you saw them in a store. I don't consider it good value for money, when I can get larger healthier fuchsia from Lidl for a fraction of the price (but they are unnamed). Wouldn't use them again.

Extremely poor germination

My first time order of seeds from this company. Very small quantity in the packet and the germination rates were 0-20% with all 14 varieties, apart from radishes (though ridiculously small amount) and carrots ( too early for those). Have ordered from Real Seeds for years and from Premier seeds too and have never had similar experience with poor germination.

The customer service and delivery was OK, hence the one star.

Well established and healthy edible products

This is a well established company I have used for 25 years of fruit and vegetable gardening, with some plants that I have from those first orders, such as sea kale and horseradish. A good range of well grown and packaged edibles, great stuff indeed. The range of herbs is exactly what I want and establish well.

I planted our asparagus bed many years…

I planted our asparagus bed many years ago and now the original crowns are producing spindly spears. As a result the first of 5 new crowns mark the start of a gradual replacement for the whole bed. Mary Washington was a random selection and I will select other named plants as we go along. Each year after cutting the old fronds I put o a good layer of compost. I was told long ago that asparagus as a seaside plant likes salt so I throw a few handfulls down each autumn. Kevin Dalley

Last year a friend brought me a chili…

Last year a friend brought me a chili plant after a long stay in hospital, she placed the little plant into the old tiny greenhouse (inherited with the house). Sneaky way to make sure I got myself moving around, if only to the garden to check on my "baby"- I made such a beautiful jam, saved the seeds but this year nothing germinated. I was so disappointed at the thought of not remaking my chili jam, especially since this year I've branched out into the garden and created a raised bed for veggies. I found Victoriana Nursery Gardens online and today my two new baby chili plants arrived perfectly packaged, the plants expertly (caringly) wrapped the newspaper still damp. They are potted up, and I can't wait to recreate and tweak my chili jam recipe come harvest time — Sure I could have tried a different chili variety saved myself a lot of searching but this one makes amazing jam and I now have two of them :)
