Christchurch central city. 10 months ago I was advised to buy a TCL 4043 flip phone for an 80 yr old non tech savey grandad. This was an absolute disaster. This proved to be a very complex OS system,... See more

Absolutely horrible service
Absolutely horrible service. Been paying for Fibre (900) and not receiving Fibre speeds. Do not recommend as they just drain your money and customer service doesn’t even help or care. Moved over to Myrepublic and it’s amazing.
Poor Speed, and poor customer service
I have been a very loyal customer of Vodafone since they bought Ihug and TelstraClear before that.
However, the last two days have just been the straw that broke my back.
Their Upload speed has become very very very slow, but ONLY when you are uploading to anyone other than vodafone.co.nz. I explained and was told multiple things I must do to my router, etc., only for them to say, "nope, not our problem." Even after resetting (not just restarting) my Router/Modem they continued to state it was my issue, not theirs.
However, I have also got other people to check up, and other people have the same issue and have also been told the same thing. I have also used my router with another ISP in a neighbour's home, and it worked perfectly.
The insult to this was that they tried to also cross-sell me from Cable to UltraFibre - which is feeling very sus. So instead of fixing the issue, they suggested Ultrafibre would be better.
This is certainly making me feel that Vodafone have done something sus to try and move people onto Fibre - which means no sense since cable was all that I needed and wanted.
Therefore, I have decided to move away from them, enough is enough.
It doesn't matter that they are changing their name - if their customer support and behaviour to the resolution of issues, even when given evidence of it being a network issue, continues to be like it is - they won't make a good ONE name for themselves in the future either.
My suggestion, stay away from them.
Package says it’s easy, package lies.
The package says download the app, easy pay and go. Turned out to be the biggest lie in the world. First if you are foreigner, you can’t download the app unless you change your region on iTunes. But to change region on iTunes, you need a local address, which doesn’t match your foreign credit card address, so after all the mess, failed.
Called 777 for help, to activate the SIM card it does the job, but nothing more.
Went on website tried to turn my top up to an actual plan, the website won’t let you do it there, you have to download the app, dead end.
Messaged live chat, every time they give you a link to clink on you lost entire chat room and so you have to start again with different person and give all info again.
I only want to activate my SIM card and get an 8GB plan, ended up not able to go anywhere to hold myself on a local Wi-Fi in a restaurant for an extra hour. Eventually the live chat ask me to top up another $20 which gone missing later, unable to contact that person again bec chat box disappeared.
Called 777 and I had no choice but to top up another $20 and read out my card number on a street for FIVE times, to know my card was invalid from his side (but I 100% got charged on the second top up)
And then I have to find a convenience store while he hold it online for me to get this rediculous drama sorted.
I’ve been to over 10 countries and all of them I get a local SIM card, this is by far the worst experience ever.
While I told one of the live chat that their app is unable to be downloaded, he nicely not replying to me for over 5 mins just hanging me there, until I sent another text ask him if I can get a plan NOW. And he replied a few more but nothing helpful.
The rest of the customer service people trying to be helpful but really this system is shxt and and telling people it’s gonna be easy is absolutely a lie.
Can I put -1,000,000 stars
Can I put -1,000,000 stars? Historically, they have consistently double charged me over a 6 month period which wasted about 15hours of calls to resolve. I got my money back but never felt that they took responsibility for their mistake. During the last call with them before switching, I spent 50mins explaining to Vodafone customer service how to read one of their invoices. Seems like they never got any training at all since he constantly said "all information on the invoice is useless so please ignore. The only thing you need to know is the amount you need to pay and that you are getting a discount." This made it extremely hard to obtain the answer I called up for. PLEASE PROVIDE CONSISTENT TRAINING TO ALL STAFF MEMBERS
Very bad service
Very bad service, as well as in the stores as online by chat.
Topped up my prepay but it just disappeared and they're not gonna help any further so if you wanna get ripped off; use Vodafone.

ABSOLUTE CRAP CUSTOMER SERVICE.
ABSOLUTE FECAL MATTER CUSTOMER SERVICE. WORSE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH ON THE PLANET. LIKE DEALING WITH A BUNCH OF ILLITERATE MONKEYS.
We have had a terrible experience with…
We have had a terrible experience with our Vodafone broadband connection customer service . Hours and hours on phone everytime someone different but the same. So difficult you just want to throw yourself under a car. They tell you one thing you think its all sorted then someone else says that’s incorrect. Impossible to deal with. The worst customer service ever. Is this the reason they are rebranding??
Absolutely dreadful service provided by…
Absolutely dreadful service provided by clueless offshore (indian) minimum wagers. They should just be honest and say they offer no service rather than waste their customers time dealing with numpties who ask "what error message do you get" when the issue is not receiving SMS. Dreadful.
Extremely poor customer service to gain…
Extremely poor customer service to gain a simple update / answer from a request of an upgrade of the current broadband connection, from our current ADSL to Fibre and passing the blame from one department/staff member to another
We finally escaped Vodafone home…
We finally escaped Vodafone home broadband after years of feeling physically sick when you had to contact them over an issue, (many, many of those), knowing the next few hours or days were going to be exceedingly stressful and invariably make whatever was wrong even worse. We've even had instances of being told by a 'Ninja' (don't make me laugh), that our broadband problem was now resolved and then receiving a letter a few days later to say 'sorry that you're leaving Vodafone'.
The things that finally drove us out were when we were blatantly lied to about being able to trial a new broadband plan with the option to revert to our old one if it didn't work for us. It didn't work and we ended up with VDSL speeds. When we contacted VF we were told sorry you can't go back as we've cancelled your old plan now and that there's nothing they can do to give us any other plan, so too bad that you need it to work from home and could lose your job.
In terms of customer service, general incompetence and lack of any transparency in their accounting processes (it seems prices change with whoever you happen to speak to at the time), I can honestly say this is the worse company we've ever dealt with.
I see they've even just messed up their rebrand.
You couldn't make them up. I sleep so much more peacefully now having joined a very helpful new telco. Good riddance VF.
No stars
No stars. If you want 🐎 poo service, headaches frustration use Vodafail. I see so many feel rhe same. Strange that a commincation company is just so terrible communicating. Go to 2 degrees .
If you wanna waste all youre money and want to be treated like nothing but a money machine use Vodafone
Ive never met such passive aggressive, rude money hungry people in my life. Complete embarrassment a company. HORRIBLE customer service. When I went in to get some data that would last for when I was leaving town they just recommended me to buy the most expensive amount of data.
Unprofessional
Unprofessional, disgraceful service (or lack thereof). The worst customer "service" ever. I try to avoid ever phoning them, but this time i had no choice. We were informed by mail and phone that their customers who have landline will have to either switch to their new system or choose to allow the phone to be cut off in November. We chose to go to the voice calling over broadband rather than lose our home phone. They sent a technician out to do the switchover. He came over and did the work and said it would take 4 hours to work. No problem. Well, what happened? 24 hours later, still no phone service. I've tried everything to get this resolved. I rang and got put through to foreigners that can't speak clear english and didn't seem to understand much of what I was talking about or what to say to me. Finally got put onto somebody speaking clear english, but who decided I should try and make adjustments my end to see if I could fix the problem (I had no idea what to do). There was no apology for the fact this had happened in the first place and I was told they'd "figure things out" their end and mentioned something about possible fraudulent activity? I was told they'd get back to me, but didn't hear back from this person or even receive any message/email confirming our phone call or the problem itself. We've been without a home phone now for 5 days. I asked if they could send a technician out, to which I was told it would take another week. No email, no call back, no confirmation whether this was going to happen or not and nothing about what we were experiencing. I then tried to speak to someone online, but got nothing but the chat bot which continually disconnected after I re-explained my situation over and over again to one person after another (none of which were names I could pronounce properly). By about the fifth different person, i actually broke down and cried. I have an elderly Dad with cancer whom I am doing this on behalf of (his account), and other things in life to deal with. I have put forward a complaint, but will have to wait and see if they even respond. They sent an email to me stating that they'll be putting the bill owed from our old account over to the new one (and combine it). They said to expect an email stating balance transfer. I didn't get that. Instead I got a bill from the old account showing how much we owe (which no doubt will be directly debited as normal). My concern is will that direct debit go through on the old account and then they'll add that same bill to the new one coming up later and bill us again? Who knows? They're very good with informing you about billing and about a service that might be gone (and give you options to choose an alternative), but seem unresponsive, unapologetic or indifferent about any problems you need resolving or they'll say they'll do something and you won't hear back.
Absolutely crap,no stars!
Absolutely crap, i would give no stars if i could. Customer service couldnt fix a problem to save their life. I seldom ring but when i do i get passed from person to person and no one knows how to do anything (my record is 7 transfers in one phone call before i hung up). I missed one months payment so i said i will pay it by the next due date the following month and they shut off my services a week before it was even due. I once rang to change plans and they started by cancelling the wrong plan! then when they fixed it and canceled the right plan...they still made me pay the fee for canceling the plan that THEY made the mistake of closing AND the one which was ment to be closed! So i paid 2 early closure fees even though i only closed one! Most useless company out.
If you want to lose money
If you want to lose money, if you want to waste time, then go with this company. Fullstop.
Vodafone needs Tobe cancelled
Out of date with its customer service, support are mostly untrained, and this company's overseas call centre are so dodgy!!! Corrupt. Not sure what a NZ company will have such low standards, og.h, I just remembered, profits!!! Bet Vodafone is going to take its self out, if it's business keeps operating as it is.
STAY AWAY from this company
Absolutely nightmare to deal with. We have our broadband service with them and they were sending us the wrong invoice (over-charging) us every single month for 4-5 months straight. Everytime we have to repeat the same story over and over again and everytime they would tell us they have left a note on their system and this would not happen again the next month. Absolute bullcrap. It got to a point where I couldn’t even bare to talk to them or I would get so pissed I’d get a heart-attack (from high blood pressure) so left it to my partner to deal with them. They are all in India, don’t even know basic knowledge/geographic knowledge of NZ so was impossible to communicate with. STAY AWAY from this company for ur own sanity
Impossible to deal with
Closed account, was in credit - got monthly invoices from them saying is was in credit, I emailed them a few times requesting they deposit the funds into my account (gave #) - nothing, except each month I'd be in credit by a bit less (account fees I guess) - at this rate I was going to end up owing them money!
Tried their 0800 number from website, so I could, you know, speak to someone. Wouldn't you know that number is not currently active.
Jumped in car to local Vodafone branch - gone. Had to go to another suburb. The woman their at least knew what I had to do to apply for refund, though couldn't/wouldn't help me. It was something I had to 'go away and do'
She is the only reason for the second star, otherwise Vodafone, I couldn't say we're painful to deal with - as I never got to. I'd say they're impossible to deal with.
Update - online refund request said they'd be in contact within 15 working days ...... 45 days later, nothing, except new monthly statement with my credit amount gone down yet again! Editid down to one star. if you see Kay vodafone
Their app is a scam
Their app is a scam, they intentionally put their pay button next to the exit button so when you exit you accidentally give them money, once they have your money you ask them for a refund they’ll say they’ll do it but they don’t say it’ll take 2weeks so the money is just sitting in your account doing nothing & when you run out of data they’ll take everything.
I called them up to tell them what happened & they said “that’s your fault for not checking your balance every second for 24hours”
