IWESCO - recently encountered 1 serious quality issue with 2 pedal bins.
I recently encountered 1 serious quality issue, with 2 pedal bins. The same problem for both.
The bins are a few months old and the pedals broke off with both bins.
One would expect a pedal is an often used part of a pedal bin. A part which needs to endure a lot of force every time.
One would therefore assume it is of a certain strong metal. Wesco however did not realise this and tried to go the easy way; producing it from plastic, attached with 2 screws, Attached in a wrong way, not with the total surface of the connecting side, but with 2 small screws at the bottom of the part.
One does not need to be an engineer to realise this will break off.
Bad design/development/testing at Wesco though, they decided to opt for plastic.
Yes, replacement pedal can be purchased at Wesco, expensive ones (not even freight included).

I sustained a serious injury from the Wesco Pushboy 50 L bin. The spring-loaded lid snapped shut on my finger, tearing skin and nail. This is a clear design flaw and safety hazard.
I reported the incident to Wesco Living UK and provided full details and photographs. Although they initially acknowledged my email, they never replied again.
This is not only poor customer service but a serious product safety issue that has been ignored. I would urge caution before purchasing this bin.
Westco bin insert from Blum slide out bin
Westco bin with two 42l buckets were installed as an insert into my Blum kitchen’s slide out bin drawer in 2021. Within weeks the handles had fallen off both bins. Soon after the edging holding the back bin up broke meaning the bin drops through and gets stuck. The only place I can find online in Australia in 2024 (yes I did look in 2021 but couldn’t find anything then) to replace one of the buckets is charging $167 for this supposedly “quality German made” piece of junk. If you can’t make them durable, at least make replacements easy to find, available and affordable.
Regretful purchase
Regretful purchase, think trying to empty a dinner plate ect through a letter box, most of it goes on the floor and most certainly onto the front of the lid which doesn’t go back far enough, also just send for our second pedal as they fail easily, pedals are around £28 a time, won’t be getting another, also far too expensive.
Rusty, rusty, rusty
The second Wesco Bin I have owned and again it's going rusty. For the money they cost you would expect more. I will never buy another one. In this day and age you would think they could stop them going rusty.
Sadly they are not built well
Sadly they are not built well. Very poor quality for the prices charged. Dent very easily, and not able to push back. Hinged lid cracked, so will not shut straight now. This bin was not abused at all, just the usual wear. Very unhappy and now have to buy something else, and pay out more money as it didn't last. Not pleased as money is very tight these days. Would not recommend.
Customer service
Unequalled customer service, helped with advice to send a photo of the bin with a dent, they arranged for a replacement very quickly and the other bin to be removed never experienced customer service like it totally amazed
Flimsy PLASTIC pedals!
I'm amazed that these very expensive bins, which one assumes are of all metal construction, have cheap PLASTIC pedals. These break after a few months of everyday use. I guess it's a ploy to get customers to replace said parts.
Fight on your hands to refunds
They do not have the best customer service if you have an issue they will look for a reason not to refund your money even if you haven't even used the bin , even if it doesn't fit ,you have to pay for returns and they could reject it even if it's not packed properly just beware before purchasing an expensive bin , which are made of plastic extremely over priced
Brought Wesco swing bin poor fitting instructions
Brought Wesco swing bin, fitting instructions are suppose to be easy, they are not. Template confusing and no instructions how to assemble. No video showing you how to install and basically devised to return item as would never buy another Wesco product after this experience
If your lucky enough to get your hands…
If your lucky enough to get your hands on an old school Wesco item great very iconic,as for Wesco now all I can say is utter rubbish, which sadly it’s no good for!!! £180 for something we threw away after 3 months it’s pointless saying they should be ashamed putting a great name like Wesco on this, I would expect to see this in a pound shop
Wesco bins - waste of money
Wesco bins - all style over substance.
Like previous posters have said metal body great until it starts to rust and the paint finish blows. Cheap plastic handles which fade/scuff within a year, endless replacement springs ordered which snap.
£180 for a bin? Then it should be built to last!
Do yourself a favour and avoid like the plague, Wesco absolute garbage - sorry couldnt help myself
Kick Bin Body Great/Plastic Foot Pedal Poor Quality
Kick Bin looks great and the body is metal which is long-lasting. The other components though, like the side handle and the foot pedal are plastic. The foot pedal shears from the screws and has to be replaced numerous times at a charge of £20+ each time and £4.95 delivery.
Why such an expensive product has such a cheap plastic foot pedal is beyond me. Otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars if the pedal had been metal.
My husband is convinced they have done it on purpose to get more money from consumers. after the third foot pedal, I'm starting to believe him.
Oh and don't bother with anything but a five-star review for their website as it wont be seen.
I’ve purchased several Wesco products
I’ve purchased several Wesco products - the latest being their Superball bread bin. Their products are top quality and are always delivered in a speedy fashion. Would recommend.

Not surprise as I entered to see there isn't excellent reviews.
This is a numerous time I am writing, as I am super dissapointed with the bin, its rusting all over and falling apart and didn't have it long.
No quality, please DON'T CONSIDER BUYING WESCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have replaced these bins 3 times in…
We have replaced these bins 3 times in 5 years. they break and crack. we are not overly rough on them but they are far too brittle and crack and split on the plastic. of course you can pay ridiculous money for their aluminium no doubt......if your going to use plastic make it last!!!!
I would give this zero stars if that…
I would give this zero stars if that was an option. We purchased an integrated bin system for a hefty price. The product that we received was flimsy and not fit for purpose. It was designed for the cupboard door to be attached to the front of the frame the bins sit in. This frame was so poorly designed that it was not able to support the door which then hung awkwardly on the front of the cupboard. The unit was broken in two places when we recieved it which was indicative of the poor materials used. Do not waste your money.
WESCO KICK MASTER BIN
I bought one of these Kick Master bins by WESCO, Under a year ago.
The lid has stopped working it’s broken in the inside and I’ve been informed by WESCO that moving parts are not under warranty.
A RUBBISH BIN-THATS ABSOLUTE RUBBISH QUALITY.

Excellent service and a fantastic product. Will use this company again.
6 weeks later, still no product
I ordered an item from what I thought was the Wesco company, the manufacturer of the bin I wanted. The website indicated it was a special order product, so it would take 3-4 weeks to get from Germany. I was OK with this, but after ordering, I was contacted at 4 weeks saying the item didn't arrive, but was expected the following week. I chased up after it still had not arrived another week later, only to be told that the item was held up in a depot. They didn't even bother to contact me to inform me of the further delay. It is now nearly 6 weeks since ordering, and all I have is a bunch of broken promises. Furthermore, I can see from the email address on their messages that this company is nothing to do with Wesco, they are a separate company called Plus Online Stores. Avoid these people unless you want to be disappointed.
