Appalling company, don't use them
This a letter I sent to Goldcar headquarters in July 2022. I have had no reply or acknowledgement. I also sent a letter to Goldcar UK headquarters, it was returned as there was no such address.

Dear Mr Martinez
My father-in-law organised an extended family holiday in France. I hired a car from your company through a third party; Carjet. I was to pick up the car at 18 00 hours from Marseille Airport on 2nd July. However, the plane from Glasgow was delayed and your office was closed when we arrived in Marseille. We were forced to book a hotel overnight for my husband, myself and our three young children.
The following morning we arrived at your office early to be told that the time limit for the car to be held had elapsed. Not only was the car not available and they were unable to offer us an alternative. No refund was offered.
In the end we made other arrangements to get to our holiday destination and returned to Marseille on 6th July to pick up a different car from your office.
The original price was £857.85, we ended up paying £1589.10.
I understand that your representative at the airport said we had no rights to any compensation as we went through a third party, but I feel this is very unfair as it is clear, you were able to hire out the original car on the 3rd July, thus in effect being paid twice for it. The third party, CarJet, has also refused to take any responsibility.
I would like to appeal for your help in this matter and ask you to return the extra amount we were forced to pay; £731.30. I think it would be the right thing to do.
