I made a reservation to Surfing Beach Village, Paros, the hotel cancelled my booking 2 hours before and Booking.com gave them NO PENALTY! Booking.com has certain RULES for hotels that want to cancel bookings a few days before the arrival. I paid 1000 euros for 4 nights in Surfing Beach Village, Paros, August 11th - August 15th. The hotel cancelled our booking 2 HOURS before the arrival, while according to Booking.com they should find us an EQUAL or HIGHER quality hotel to stay! So we had to stay in a low quality hotel, as only 5-stars hotels where available on the same day. Read below: - Surfing Beach Village Paros: The hotel reservation girl told us, 2 hours before our arrival to Paros, that we should stay in another, 0 stars hotel (without pool), for the first day and then move to Surfing Beach Village. The reason was an "Overbooking which was caused by the hotel's system". I said that we will likely accept. After talking with my wife, I called her back 5 minutes after saying: "According to Booking.com rules, you should find us an EQUAL or HIGHER value hotel for the first night ! Otherwise we should have a partial refund of the first day! Because we paid for a 3 star hotel, at the beach, with pool and you want to host us for the first night to a 0 stars hotel, without a pool and not in front of the beach! She said: Look, I am very busy and I won't keep talking for this anymore. I will cancel the reservation and you will get the refund!" - According to the Greek EOT (Hellenic Organisation of Tourism) cancelling 2 HOURS before the arrival and providing ONLY FULL REFUND f is ILLEGAL ! They should provide a FULL 4 days stay to an equal or higher stars hotel ! This is because when we took the 1.000€ back for the 4 nights, the ONLY available hotel with equal or higher value, was a 5-stars hotel which had a cost of 3.000€ ! - So my next move will be that I will file a complaint to the National Tourist Organisation and to the Consumers Association because this is illegal. - Same with Booking.com . Your employee told me on the phone that hotels like this have no penalties for doing this thing several times and that "They have to do this a lot of times". Booking.com WILL be included in the complaints of course because you are co-responsible for this ! - Surfing Beach Village listed our room in Booking.com , during the period 11-15 of August. Seriously? Then why did they tell us that they had no rooms on August 11th? Booking.com does NOTHING to give a PENALTY to those hotels! We are LOSING MONEY here! Reservation 1-2 months before is an INVESTMENT! It is IMPOSSIBLE to find a hotel with the same price last minute.

Extremely disappointing treatment of a family after an emergency We booked a Business Class flight with Qatar Airways from Doha to Düsseldorf for two adults and our 14 month old son. On 28 February 2026, we were already on board flight QR85 when the aircraft had to return to Doha approximately two hours after departure because of the outbreak of war and the resulting security situation. We were then unable to leave Doha for more than a week. Fortunately, Mein Schiff allowed us to return to the ship as a gesture of goodwill and later assisted with our evacuation through Saudi Arabia. We had to pay for the necessary connecting flight from Munich to Düsseldorf ourselves. Our checked luggage did not arrive until five days later. We therefore had to purchase essential clothing, toiletries and personal care products. The situation was particularly difficult because our son's stroller was not delivered until approximately five weeks later. It is simply not practical to travel with a 14 month old child for several weeks without a stroller, so we had to purchase a replacement. We incurred documented expenses of more than EUR 1,100. All expenses are supported by receipts and payment records. The communication from Qatar Airways Customer Care has been especially disappointing. It takes months to receive a response, while customers are given almost no meaningful information about the status of their case. After waiting for such a long time, our carefully documented claim was rejected with a single sentence. There was no clear explanation and no apparent consideration of the individual expenses, the submitted evidence or the particular circumstances of travelling with a small child. We fully understand that Qatar Airways did not cause the war or the security situation. Our criticism is not directed at the decision to return the aircraft to Doha. It concerns the way affected passengers were treated afterwards, the extremely long processing time and the inadequate communication from Customer Care. From an internationally renowned airline, particularly after booking Business Class, we expected greater responsibility, transparency and a serious review of our documented expenses. A one sentence rejection after months of waiting is not acceptable customer service.
