So I’ve just had a call off 3 mobile…

So I’ve just had a call off 3 mobile claiming I owe hundreds to them and this is being passed to a debt company. I told them I had no idea what they were on about as I generally don’t. They then informed me that this company, who I have never heard of, say I’ve taken a contract out with them. I’ve never received a phone or a SIM card, 3 mobile have confirmed the number they are trying to collect the money for has never actually been used either. I’ve tried to contact this company and of course I can’t get through to anyone.

Scam. Confirmed.

I can confirm that this company is a scam.

Placed an order on the 19th December 2020 and paid a deposit of £99. The order was cancelled due to a failed credit check. The funds were then pending on my bank account for 29 days, and then taken by these charlatans on the 30the day.

Had the funds not been taken, they would have been released back in to my account on day 30.

I have contacted them by phone and they reckon they have issued me a refund.

If the refund appears, I will update my review.

Update: The refund landed back in my account within 24hrs.

Robbing, scummy expletives!!

Absolutely terrible service, ordered a phone on 29th October, they tried to deliver on 2 occasions, both on the day before they said it would be delivered, i booked the day off work both times but obviously i missed it as they lied about the delivery date, i cancelled the order, it was returned, took a month before they acknowledged it had been returned,

16th December got an email to say the cancellation is in process and will have a refund in 14 days and contract will be cancelled, a month later of me constantly phoning and talking on live chat they either say it's still processing or they are unaware of the cancellation, i now have a £110 bill with EE, something EE themselves cannot do anything about as it's down to A1, the contract is now into the 3rd month and there is nothing i can do about it because A1 keep giving me the run around!!!

Part 1 of 2

Part 1 of 2

This company will take your money, fail to provide your product, leave you for weeks with no means of communication, disclose strangers' personal data to you, then try to blame you for it all.

I purchased the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra direct via the Samsung Website. It was a good deal, £184 upfront, then £39 a month for 24 months including a Vodafone contract with pretty much unlimited everything. Much better than i could get upgrading directly through Vodafone.

Delivery, expected during my annual leave period from work, was delayed - of course - forcing me to rejig holidays in order to be home to receive it later.

The product arrived and seemed fine. Nice phone and SIM card present. All good. It was a Friday, and so not wanting to mess about with porting my number over the weekend (works night out) and potentially having connectivity issues waiting on it, I held off activation until the following week.

Following week, being unable for some bizarre reason to switch a phone number from one Vodafone contract to another, I took Vodafone's advice and ported it out to a £1 EE Sim Card, so as to be able to port it back to the new Vodafone one afterwards.

I then inserted the new Vodafone SIM (which bizarrely didn't display any phone number) into my phone and waited for activation. It never arrived. I visited Vodafone for help, but they were unable to assist and recommended I visited the Samsung shop. I traipsed down there and they were equally useless.

Left with no working phone for 2 days and nobody able to help me, I received out of the blue an email from Mobile Shop advising that due to a "scanning error at our warehouse" they had not been passed my SIM number by Samsung and so had not been able to activate my SIM. They request that I reply to their email with the 20-digit number on the SIM packaging. Luckily, I had retained the packaging, and this seemed to explain the issue, and so I attempted to do as they said, and reply with this information, only to realise that the geniuses had emailed me from a "Do Not Reply" email address.

So once again left with no idea what to do, and still no functioning phone, I had to again traipse into town to visit first Vodafone, to whom I showed the email in question and who again had no idea what to do, and then to Samsung, who equally stared at me blank faced and told me to call their support team - pretty hard to do when you don't have a functioning phone!!!

The following day, however, I received another, identical email from Mobile Shop, this time from an email address to which I could actually reply. I did so, provided the number they requested, and they responded to confirm the SIM would be activated the following day.

Sure enough, next day I turns the phone off and on and Voila! the phone is working. Great, I thought, now just to port my old number back from the EE SIM card and the saga is finally over So i went online and arranged the port, by this time its Friday again so the port was scheduled for the following Monday (today). Fair enough, I can live with that, I thought.

Except the following day I then receive a message from Vodafone advising that my new bill is ready, and it's £59. Immediately the alarm bells went off again as this sum was far in excess of that which I had signed up for. So I went to review my bill, only to discover that it was not in fact my bill, but that I had been sent personal billing information for a complete stranger called Nathaniel Cammock (in case you're reading, Nathaniel, hope you sue for a tidy sum).

Bang went my relaxing Saturday afternoon watching the rugby, and back I had to go to Vodafone to find out what the hell was going on and who was responsible for such a serious GDPR data breach.

To be fair to Vodafone, they did all they could, however ultimately confirmed that they had no account on their systems for me, that the phone number which had been sent to me and activated on my new phone was not mine but registered to this Mr Cammock, and that as a result they would need to shut down the SIM, leaving me once again with no functioning phone. They then advised that I contact Samsung, as it appeared it was them, or their partners, who had provided the incorrect details resulting in both the on-going farcical inconvenience to me, and the serious data breach to Mr Cammock.

After spending ages on my landline phone (possible at peak rate, I'm still not certain) to Vodafone's fraud team to deal with that, I then called Samsung, who completely fobbed me off, and told me I'd need to speak to Mobile Shop who were responsible for fulfilling the order.

I was put through to Mobile Shop, where an almost entirely incomprehensible woman first tried to tell me this was all my fault, and then tried to fob me off to something called A1 Comms which returned a voicemail saying they were closed and to call back on Monday.

Poor customer Service

Was easy enough to get a New phone and deal but the customer service from this company is poor. Phone was delayed via 3rd party, spoke to the affordable mobiles got miss advised then told a call back. I had to chase them 3 times and still no call back. Every time I was informed the Team Leads/managers are "in meetings" Courtney was the only one who helped as Kalok didn't email as he promised. To put a Final spin on this the phone has been posted through my letter box so must not be in a box. WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THEM

Terrible service and cannot speak to an agent

My phone was due for an upgrade, i called my current provider (EE) who could not offer me a good deal, so i shopped around and found a good deal on Samsung website and ordered the phone. Later that day, EE called back and offered me a better deal so i contacted Samsung the same day to cancel my phone with them. They said fine, when DPD deliver the phone just refuse delivery and it will be sent back to them with no charges to me. I did exactly that. However, it now appears that although the phone has been returned to Samsung, the phone plan is with EE but the contract is with A1 and i am being charged for a phone that i did not receive. I contacted EE and they said it's nothing to do with them as the contract is with A1. I called A1 who said it's nothing to do with them as the phone was ordered from Samsung. I called Samsung who said they have had the phone returned and A1 should not be charging me at all when i don't even have the phone. I have tried to get through to A1 over the phone but after 20 to 30 mins of being placed on hold, i get cut off. I am now in a position where i will be charged by A1 for a phone line i have never had or used.

Update - i received a message from someone at A1 this morning (1st Dec) who said they have sent me a message requesting further info - as of yet no message has been received!

So Bad I'm giving up on Samsung

Having owned multiple Samsung mobiles, a tablet and ultrabook (all flagship models) I thought to go with the new S21 Ultra and applied for a deal via Samsung's website. Having taken some details, along with card details for payment, A1 Comms sent me notification via email that my order had been cancelled following their "checks". Before they did this they performed a hard credit check via one of the 3 major UK credit rating agencies. Given my credit is rated "excellent" by each of these agencies, and that there is no higher rating, I am at a loss to explain why they were poking around in my personal information when my rated creditworthiness was clearly irrelevant to them. Their customer service, who failed to provide any means of contact in the notification email, provided no help whatsoever when I made contact with them and I am now depending on data protection legislation to seek an explanation where they have neglected to provide one. Follow-up care notwithstanding, I have since compared how transparent A1 Comms are about what they do with applicant's data vs other companies in the industry including Three and Virgin, and A1 comms just don't measure up. They have lost my trust. I would not recommend doing business with them unless you are entirely indifferent to what use is made of your personal data.

Hi

Thank you for your review.

All credit checks are ran by the networks, not A1 Comms, when a customer places an order, we run initial security checks but the networks follow this with a credit check. As a company we take the protection of customers details very seriously, you can find our privacy policy on our help section on the website.
