Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the delivery service, citing issues such as delayed shipments, unfulfilled delivery promises, and packages being left in insecure locations. Reviewers also frequently encountered problems with customer service, describing it as unhelpful, difficult to contact, and unresponsive to their concerns. Additionally, the website was a source of frustration for many, with some reporting difficulties in managing orders and receiving accurate information. Some people were dissatisfied with the products, mentioning receiving broken items, or products that did not match their descriptions or meet quality expectations. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with product quality, finding items to be as described and well-packaged. While a few other people also felt that order processing was quick and deliveries were often earlier than expected, many others reported issues with orders being delayed, incorrect, or missing.

Absolutely useless

Company uses code express to deliver, or what I should say supposed to deliver items, despite knowing that code express is beyond useless they continue to use them, when you call Amazon you are told that they have no say on who they use for deliveries, I’m beginning to think it’s all a scam, Code Express, beyond useless yet still used by Amazon. Absolutely pathetic.
Their phone number is 0290955000, I just spoke to the most unhelpful person ever called Peter, he told me that they couldn’t find my address, he told me he couldn’t find it on google maps, at the same time I was looking at my house on the same google maps, full of rubbish, doesn’t care about the reviews given, I’m thinking that Amazon own this horrific company, anyway, phone number above, call and ask for Peter, enjoy.

One star because I can't rate zero.

One star because I can't rate zero.
Amazon closed our account because they thought it was linked to other acounts that had previously been closed. They will not provide any further details and have now said they will likely not respond to any further emails.
We have no other accounts and have been told we are not allowed any other accounts, can no longer use the firestick which needs an account to use so can not watch tv any longer. Their timing couldn't be worse as this was what our father (who has terminal brain cancer and is very restricted in what he can do) used as entertainment. Shame on you amazon, your service in this matter is a disgrace.

NO ABN, NO TAX INVOICE, NO REBATE

I purchased security cameras specifically from Amazon Au as I needed a Tax invoice & ABN (Australian Business Number) to claim a Seniors rebate from WA government.
I spent 1 hour online attempting to make a request for the Tax Invoice & ABN. Amazon had their supplier send me an invoice that is not a proper Tax Invoice & the company has no ABN (Asian company)
I ordered the item from Amazon & paid Amazon expecting that I was dealing with Amazon & would automatically receive the documentation to satisfy the requirements for the rebate which in this case was for 100$ of the cost.
It has effectively cost me the full purchase price due to not being able to claim the rebate.
Take note if you are considering a purchase which may be subject to a Tax Invoice & ABN, dont buy from Amazon. I could have purchase the same security cameras locally for about 10% more & received the full rebate.

Rip off to sell on

Rip off to sell on - forced to compete to have the lowest price, all the money from the sale goes to Amazon, and the selling platform is awful in general. I had holiday settings on, and Amazon was still setting products to customers! Buy from Australian businesses directly, not this nasty drop-shipping American junk!

Systemic Failure at Amazon: Escalated Delivery Case Ignored, No Supervisor, No Accountability

If you want stress, wasted hours, and a delivery problem that never gets resolved, Amazon’s escalation process will not disappoint.
This review is written to warn customers about a serious operational failure within Amazon’s customer support and delivery escalation process.

This was not a normal delivery delay. It was an escalated case that Amazon was unable to resolve.
Order # 249-0559801-7662213

I spent over 2 hours in a live chat after being told my case had been escalated. I was explicitly instructed not to write in the chat to avoid further delays. During that time, no supervisor joined, no update was provided, and no resolution was offered.

Across this issue, I was transferred between more than 30 different agents for a single package via chat and phone. Each agent repeated scripted apologies, but no one took ownership. I repeatedly requested a case number or reference, and this was refused multiple times.

Amazon also sends emails stating that a supervisor or leadership team will follow up. However, when customers reply to those emails, no response is ever received. There is effectively no two-way communication, making escalation meaningless.

Despite this being an escalated and time-critical delivery issue that has been ongoing for weeks, the only solution repeatedly pushed was cancellation and refund, even after this option had already occurred multiple times and was explicitly refused.

After more than 2 hours waiting in a so-called “live” support chat, with no supervisor, no case number, and no action taken, it became clear that the process is designed to exhaust the customer rather than resolve the problem.

This appears to be a systemic failure to handle escalated delivery issues.
The escalation process does not function, accountability is absent, and customers are left without real support.

This entire interaction has been documented.

Ordered book on 1 Dec didn’t hear anything until my bank came back and said they still had the funds - so much for Xmas on investigation found it won’t be delivered until 19 Jan - why can’t they be honest and say not in stock I could have bought elsewhere - now too late. You just lost a customer and your Customer support is shocking - couldn’t get any support at all though I could phone a US 0800 number from NZ? Never again!!!

Terrible! 5 days delayed and finally they just confused with their own team, don’t know where my order is. “You should reorder cause we have refunded” even I always said I don’t mind for the refunding, just want to make sure I got the order in time.

Pathetic Service And System

First !! Their delivery is pathetic !! Late, mixed up addresses, mark as delivered but never received !! Their customer service chat is very annoying !! They say chat with an associate but I can guarantee you it’s a bot not human !! Finally and is the most pathetic, annoying and frustrating experience of all !! Is their money thing !! So I order and I expect money taken !! Nope !! They take the money later and not all amount !! But bit by bit, they make it difficult to control your finances and chase up your expenses !! Like I keep thinking Amazon paid so I have that much so I can do such and such !! Then kaboom another payment taken by Amazon !! Then you contact them and they say ahhh that is for that item bla bla bla !! But I purchased that like 10 days ago !? And they say ahhh our system is this and that !! Why can’t you take the bloody money all at once !! I don’t care about your third party bla bla bla !! That’s your business and I deal with Amazon !! It’s a nightmare if you order few items !! It’s impossible to chase your finances !! And when things go wrong !! Amazon puts their hands up and say ahhh it’s not our fault it’s the third party contact them !! Why would I !? I have an account with you not them !! Amazon is a joke and the headache they give me isn’t worth the benefit I receive !! Completely boycotting them !!

Amazon crappy packaging

My wife pre-ordered the book Chasing Evil for me from Amazon AU on 6 Nov 2025 (due for release on 2 Dec 2025). It was listed at $36.99 AUD. Last time I placed a pre-order with Amazon (2-3 yrs ago) it took a year to receive due to issues with the book's title so I was a bit hesitant to do another pre-order. To my pleasant surprise this book arrived on 5 Dec 2025 just 3 days after release date! However, this 9"×6"×0.9" book arrived in a 18.5"×14.3"x3.2" box (big enough to hold 12 books!). Of course it had been sliding around inside this hugely oversize box all the way to me and the cover was bent backward 90° and had permanent crease/fold across it. I have bought 2nd hand books in better condition for less so I was not happy. After discussing with my wife what to do, it seems we were actually charged $24.51 AUD (because of a price guarantee offer, part of the pre-order?) so I didn't pursue a replacement or price adjustment. And Amazon have the gall to note on the box flap "Our boxes now use Less Material" & a QR code where you can "learn about sustainability at Amazon Australia"! Mr Amazon, if you use the right size box for the product you can use EVEN LESS material and the product will probably arrive not damaged! WOW! Radical!
PS: the book is a really interesting read.

If I could give negative stars

If I could give negative stars, I would. Amazon Logistics in (Mulgrave Depot) is running a scam.

Your driver has falsified the delivery record THREE TIMES, marking my order as "attempted" while I sat at home waiting. He never rang, never called, and never came to the door. He is just faking attempts because he is too lazy to do his job.

To make it worse, I proactively called your useless support team TODAY to warn them. They "promised" to handle it. They failed. The driver lied again immediately after.

Your support team is incompetent, your managers are asleep at the wheel, and your drivers are scammers. I have cancelled my order because I refuse to deal with this level of garbage service. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Do not use this service. Absolute trash.

Dreadful Customer Service

I have been shopping on Amazon for four or five years and have mostly had positive experiences … until now.

On the positive side, they have a large range, prompt delivery and easy returns. On the negative side, delivery is problematic and customer service is non-existent.

I contacted customer service three times in the past month. On the first occasion, I found an item I had recently ordered – less than 30 days previously – for $70 cheaper. I contacted customer service requesting a $70 refund. They said they were unable to refund the $70 but they could refund the total price of the more expensive item and I could re-order it at the cheaper price and return the more expensive one. I tried to impress upon them that this option would be more costly for them in $ and labour but they wouldn’t budge so I went ahead with it.

The item was delivered rattling round in a box I could almost live in. As I don’t drive, I contacted customer service again stating there was no way I could return a box that size and requesting a pick-up. No dice. I eventually returned the item without its cardboard coffin.

Today I receive an email stating they attempted delivery on a 21kg item and it was awaiting collection at my local post office. The item did not require Signature on Delivery and I have NEVER had to collect an item. At 21kg, it was again not something I could collect.

I contacted customer service requesting a re-delivery. They were unable to do this so what did they suggest? That they refund the item and I re-order it. This appears to be their standard approach to problems.

What an absurd way to run a business. On their part it entails more processing of orders and returns and additional delivery fees. On my part it causes delays and inconvenience. This is of particular concern in the lead-up to Christmas.

The customer service people are polite and try to assist but they are given zero discretion. They obviously have a “script” they must rigidly adhere to. They are not permitted to use their initiative. They can refer you to a supervisor but, unfortunately, they are reading from the same script.

Of course, the fault lies with Amazon and not individual customer service staff. I am seriously considering whether to continue purchasing on Amazon. I understand Amazon is a huge business and needs structure and rules but when they are both detrimental to their own bottom line and driving customers away, perhaps they need to consider alternatives.

UPDATE: Going through the refund / re-order process for second item because neither Australia Post nor Amazon can arrange a re-delivery. Therefore, delay of eight days while I wait for replacement item to arrive from who knows where. Meanwhile, original item is awaiting collection at a post office approximately 3km from my home.

Make Amazon Great Again

Like most people, long time user.

Pros are: Low prices, eg for vitamins etc, they beat grocery store prices.

Free shipping depending on the size of the purchase, this increased to $59 to from $39 for the purchase amount.

Customer support has always been excellent, around refunds, notifications, etc. They will always initially side with you.

5 stars if this was back in 2019...but unfortunately we are not there.

The (very) bad:

Amazon is essentially a drop shipping outlet for Chinese online stores. There are no quality products when it comes to furniture, mugs, bags, utensils, pens, toys, etc. You basically have the same product being sold by "different" companies. It is low quality stuff that is 3x price of what it sells for on the Chinese online site.

For me this is just a website filled with spam, unless you are targetting a specific product or brand. You cant peruse a general category due to the duplicate cheap stuff (i.e that impulse buying is gone)>

What exacerbates it are fake reviews for these crummy products as well.

Given the good support and the history of once being a great online store, I cannot 1 star this (even though it is deserved).

Amazon- terrible service and out of pocket

Amazon accepted an order for three items (deer head coat hooks, #503-1406128–3103026). They split the order across two sellers. I got the first. They lost the second two in transit. They tried to refund i) with a gift certificate ii) only for the two they lost (leaving me only the one, not useful when it was to be a set of three).

Avoid Amazon at all costs. Even if a competitor is more expensive, you can’t trust Amazon and you’ll pay more for dealing with them. As weird as Temu’s marketing is, it’s a better platform.
