Worst experience that I ever had with this company.
I made a reservation on their website to rent a car (to have a car for the delivery of my first daughter) but because I had to go to the hospital at 5am the rent-a-car was not open. I quickly sent an email to the customer service to request a cancellation or just a change of date and the answer was just; “you should have read the terms before you book it, our policy requires 48h for cancellation. We can’t do anything.” This is what I have received, a very dry, unhelpful, unfriendly answer. In any case, keep the €85.54 of the rental as you are a very awful company so you need all the help you can get to show your bad quarterly and yearly profits. This is my last ever rental with Auto Europe and I will never recommend you to my family or friends. There’s way more prestigious, honest and friendly companies out there with far better policies and providing more sympathetic service to their customers.
For your information the rental was boles on the day of pick up, so it is impossible to cancel or to modify anything on your 48h policy. I also contacted your costumer service just right after the booking before I was going to the hospital and there was no help whatsoever to assist in changes as your suggestion says:
“Auto Europe does not refund any unused days if the customer does not show up, shows up over 2 hours late without contacting Auto Europe.
So how can this be helpful? Car booked in less then 12h so no Fully Flexible Cancellation option and also not entitled for the 48h cancellation either. What’s the deal then? No helpful option, or customer service help to cancel or modify.

Extra costs, no service but also no refund
We arrived at the local rental place where they wanted to charge us costs that were not allowed (more than double what we paid). Auto Europe acknowledged this and sent us an email confirming that we would get a refund for the reservation as we did not want to continue at this rental place. We however never received this payment and it is now few months later. Also, the credit card company had contact but they got "proof" from auto europe that we rented the car, which we did not
Added: Now they agree that the extra costs were not in the conditions only they won't give a refund because we started a chargeback

Pretty good experience
They have really competitive prices. I think this is the best comparator that can give you the best offer regarding what you are looking for.
There is only 3 problems :
- When you activate your cashback app, suddenly the prices increasing of 10 euros approximately
- If you look again 10 minutes after, the prices increase of more than 100 euros
- The infos about the insurances are not clear.
Despite numerous objections, Auto Europe does not fulfill its obligations and promises.
On behalf of Auto Europe, our defective rental car from Drivalia was picked up for repair on July 9, 2024. We did not receive the car repaired back and did not receive a replacement car and despite our complaints we were charged for rent for July and August 2024.
We have contacted Auto Europe's customer service, which intervenes in the event of incorrect charges from rental companies, but they are not at home, not even an acknowledgement of receipt.
If this continues, we will also be charged for September and the rest of the year.
A mistake can happen at the best companies, but not answering a customer and leaving them hanging with their problem is impossible.
My motto and advice is to avoid these types of companies, better to pay 10 euros more in advance and book with reputable companies such as Europcar, Hertz, Sixt etc. etc.

USP’s I like; all inclusive concept, flexibilty and long term rental possibilities.
Smooth process
The process was smooth. Payment from my first card had an issue so the company directly called me to report the same. I used a different card and everything went well. They offered very good prices overall.
Autoeurope solved our issue
We had an issue with a booking that was cancelled because of an IT issue. After contact with multiple people we finally solved the issue and Autoeurope refunded us the amount that we was due. Thank you for the service Autoeurope team.

Inaccurate listings
They list Greenmotion rentals as airport terminal pickup, both on the autoeurope website and on Skyscanner.
After further enquiries, Greenmotion doesn't offer pickup or drop-off at the Heathrow Airport terminal and require a shuttle bus connection.

Full damage cover is SCAM!
Full Damage Cover is a RIP-OFF! Pure SCAM!
Their prices are very high compared to other brokers. Just shop around and you'll see!
I've been using autoeurope for the past 4-5 years, renting +20 cars, always opting for their full damage coverage. But guess what? I never had to use it until recently.
In January 2024, I returned a car to Sixt with a tiny scratch on the front bumper, and what do they do? charged me with a €1400 bill! So, I file a claim with autoeurope on 01/02/2024 to use the "Full Damage Insurance", sending in all the documents they asked for.
For the past two months, I've been hounding them, emailing and calling over 10 times, but nada! They just ignore me, pretending they never got my docs. That's a load of bull because every time I email, I get a confirmation with a reference number!
Autoeurope is straight-up trying to stiff me. If you want to play it safe and not throw your money away, steer clear of autoeurope. Go directly to rental companies with full coverage. Sure, it might cost a bit more, but at least you won't end up in this mess. Make sure the broker has an ANVR and SGR badge!!
I'm done with autoeurope. I'm taking my case to my lawyer and filing complaints to european customer center, ECRCS, and whoever else needed.
And here's a message for Autoeurope: Before you ask for my voucher number, talk to your employee in damage department (not possible to mention her name as it is against trustpilot’s policy). She knows what's up. And do me a favor, check how your staff conveniently "forget" about over 10 follow-up emails and calls, and claim they didn't get my docs. Your customer service sucks big time!!!!

Actions speak louder than words, easy to see this? I already gave you the name of the person I've been sending emails. You could've just asked her if you actually cared!
I'm done wasting my time with your useless customer service. Seriously, I've tried more than 15 times to get some help, and what do I get? Nothing! So, guess what? I've lawyered up.
A company that actually cares about its customers wouldn't make it this hard to sort out a simple problem. I mean, I've got experience in this, and even I can see that.

Never AutoEurope again
We rented a car with Goldcar via AutoEurop. We opted for the full insurance with AutoEurope.
On 15 June 2023 at 23.00, at the Goldcar counter we had to pay a deposit for the rental car of €1600, -. This was not a problem; I presented my credit card and then the lady at the counter said that the card could not be used because the card was only valid through 07/2023 (another 6 weeks). How long the validity of the card should be was unclear as well were this rule was stated.
Basically, we had two options, walk away and lose the reservation (and money) or take a full cover insurance at a price of €274,20. This was however already done with the AutoEurope. As I could not reach AutoEurope at that time I had to accept this (only later I saw in the small print that there is another phone number for non-business hours).
The next day I had contact with the reservations department and they could not find any information on the need of a longer validity of the card. Although I wanted this to be corrected right away, they could not assist me in this, I needed to file a complaint after the rental period.
After filing the complaint, I had to remind multiple times on a response. The response was like: Can you provide us this or can you provide us that. We responded always directly but then we had to remind them over and over. Finally, we had to provide a statement from the bank that the card was valid and had enough credit available. I provided my credit card statement which undoubtedly proves the credit amount and the use in June, there was more then enough credit. The validity was also not a problem as they were able to charge me for the insurance.
This was however not enough: they need a statement from the bank/credit card company. This is however not a letter the bank can provide (at least not in the Netherlands).
Conclusion: The tactics of AutoEurope are the same as many smaller rental companies, low response and continue asking for information until you cannot provide this information and then they cannot/will not help you further.
After many years of using AutoEurope we now will change to another provider.
PS response to the answer of AutoEurope:
The response is exactly how AutoEurope works: lay responsibility at the client and refuse to actually help to solve the problem. WE DID NOT ACCEPT THE CHARGES. WE HAD TO PAY BECAUSE OTHERWISE GOLDCAR WOULD NOT PROVIDE US THE CAR. Furthermore, we had the day after contact with your reservation desk to solve it right away. No help however.
Also: Both AutoEurope and Goldcar refuse to clarify how a customer can know that the Credit Card should have a certain validity. Normally they are very fast with showing the small print with rules and regulations but now they continuously ignore to answer this simple request.
