Lying to their customers

I place my first order on 20th Feb 2022, with a delivery promise between 30/03 and 15/04. It was a coffee table worth >£800.

On 28/03, I contacted the customer service as I had not received any update. They confirmed the delivery promise was still 30/03 to 15/04 and said I would received it "by the end of this month".

On 31/03, I received a message indicating that my order was being shipped and a link to track the shipping status, however the link didn't work ("there isn't any information related to your order"). I contacted the customer service who responded on 01/04 to "confirm that my order had been dispatched and was already on its way to me".

However later on that day, I received another message informing me that due to a delay, the delivery would be postponed by up to 1 month (25/04 to 30/04). If the order had not been shipped, why send me a shipping notification and lie to me?

Around 19/04, I contacted them again. They answered the next day saying that the product "was still in fabrication and would be delivered within two weeks". Meaning by approx 02/05. As I expressed my disappointment, they told me they would send me a discount voucher (but I didn't receive it).

On 27/04, they wrote to me promising the product would be shipped (no longer mentioning delivery date) by the end of the week. Two days later, they wrote again, this time to inform that the product wasn't shipped due to supply chain issue and failed to provide a new estimate for delivery or shipping. This was the 3rd time they failed on their promise.

On 05/05, they informed me again that they would not be able to provide a new estimate shipping date. Same thing on 18/05 and 23/05. They asked if I wanted to cancel my order. I told they I didn't and I wanted to wait to receive the product.

On 30/05, they confirmed my order would be shipped on that day. I was extremely relieved, even though I thought I had been waiting way too long and been served wrong information several times.

Four days later, they wrote to inform me they would unilaterally cancel my order due to an issue with the supplier.

Why lie and tell me the order would be shipped if it's to cancel it 4 days later. My experience with Bombinate has been lies after lies after lies. The fact that the order processing and shipping is handled by the supplier is no excuse. The repeatedly fed me wrong information, prove that they do not know how to manage their suppliers.

Eight days after the cancellation, I am still waiting for the refund to be processed and find myself having to chase them for this as well.

Appalling experience. I will not buy from them ever again.

Sold items that don't exist

Bombinate took an order and payment from me for two shirts totalling GBP 197. Two days, later, the merchant who makes the shirts had the decency to tell me the item was out of stock and should not have been sold by Bombinate. It took another two days for Bombinate to issue a refund. Bombinate have never explained, apologized, or even replied to my emails ... though they sure are bombarding me with marketing emails.

Absolutely terrible service. Misleading information.

Absolutely terrible service. Item ordered clearly listed all duties and taxes were included, only to have the UPS driver present me with an invoice of £109 before he’d release the package. I refused and the package went back with the driver.

Called Bombinate customer service, eventually spoke to someone that seemed able to help. Apparently the refusal to pay UPS would see the package returned to origin, Bombinate would then fix the problem and have sent back out clear of any outstanding duties. I was told to expect the item in 2 weeks max. It’s nearly 4 weeks, no item and an invoice in the post from UPS.

Find what you like on Bombinate and go direct to the supplier. This is an awful platform with terrible customer service and misleading at best information.

Still waiting for a reply to my latest query. Still no item. £600 paid and an invoice for over £100. And 4 weeks. Avoid.

See reply below for a glimpse at their customer service. A cut and paste from a previous reply to someone else's bad review referring to 'shoes'... Unbelievable...

Astonishingly, rather than address my issues and assist in a £600 outstanding order, you've decided to edit your cut and paste response. How about a call, you have my number. How about actually trying to help and offer a solution?

At this point I've requested a full refund and will never use Bombinate again and will advise others not to.

Terrible business. Ironic given the number of emails I'm receiving from you asking if I'd be interested in being a part of your current crowdfunding endeavour.

Avoid at all costs.

If you are care about quality, supporting smaller business and corporate responsibility

I like being able to shop a curated range of boutique clothes without having to scroll through never ending pages. I've discovered some exciting new brands that bridge the gap between low price/poor sustainability and aspirational price/premium quality.
When ordering the wrong or multiple sizes, the returns process was a breeze. I hope it stays this way.

Great all round experience

Seamless purchase process - my Haoshi items arrived in super quick time via DHL, despite being despatched directly from the manufacturer in Taiwan and not from the UK. Delighted with my new acquisitions! Well curated website, with a keen eye for understated, quality design for the home with a strong focus on sustainability. Excellent.

Inept.

Ordered some size 10 shoes. Waited ages for delivery and was sent some size 9's. Had to send these back for a refund and ordered some more size 10's in the meantime. These just arrived and I've been sent size 11. Totally incompetent. I've emailed about this but am yet to receive a response from them.

Just good quality items

Great experience using Bombinate. Easy online ordering and items arrived as described. They partner with numerous small businesses in the UK and overseas to supply good quality items. There's the added benefit of not having to worry about import charges or anything else like that as the price you see on the Bombinate website is what you pay, which is reasonable - especially when they have a sale on :) Overall a good experience.
