Delighted with the service and quality
Bombinate is quite new to me and I am delighted to have come across them. I ordered a mustard chair, great price and amazing quality. The chair came in 3 pieces which was very easy to put together.

Two navy sea bags
I ordered two different navy sea bags. Sadly one was unavailable due to material shortage but the customer service member was great in letting me know and sorting out my refund. Now I new that it was going to be getting a hand-made ag but the quality was way better than I expected. Seriously very happy.

The chair I had been looking for.
I had been looking for a well designed high back chair for some time and chanced upon Bombinate and the Starzeit Retrostar, which seemed to be exactly what I wanted. It was duly ordered and arrived more quickly in the UK from Germany than I anticipated. There is the inconvenience of post-Brexit import duty on items of over £135 having to be payed by customers first - companies are not allowed to do this on their behalf - but this would not put me off from ordering again, as Bombinate were as good as their word and I was reimbursed without delay. So five stars for the chair [which was easy to assemble and is very stylish and comfortable] and for the service I received.
Overall, I am very impressed with the quality of design in Bombinate's 'catalogue', as I am with the ethical approach of the company.

Fantastic quality and customer service
I received my chair within 3 weeks of order.
Slight hiccup with customs wanting payment to for shipping the item. Bombinate had already emailed me to say I would have to pay the shipping myself but would process the refund as soon as I’d sent confirmation, which they did. They were very apologetic and I guess it’s all to do with Brexit that this has become an issue for them, so it can’t be helped!
The chair is stunning and such good quality. More beautiful in person than on pictures. Very happy with my order and with the customer service, will definitely order again!

Problem with Sternzeit chair
UPDATE: Bombinate apologised for the experience and fully refunded the order.
REVIEW: I ordered a Sternzeit Retrostar chair and footstool.
I had problems in different steps of the order:
1. SHIPMENT DELAYS AND CUSTOM DUTIES: the items got stuck at the custom and the courier apparently send me a letter asking for 10% duties on the items.
I have never received the letter.
After a week of delay, I enquired Bombinate, they told me the bad news and the information on how to pay the custom charge.
At no time I was told that they were sorry and they should have paid for it.
I said "thank you, but it's written everywhere on your site that you should pay for the customs".
Finally, they said "ah ok, sorry, the order has been sent on DAP, instead of DDP, so now you should pay the custom and then we will reimburse you". Refund takes weeks.
Not very happy, I proceed.
The delivery by ParcelForce has been a nightmare, spending days at home waiting for a deliveries that did not happen.
Finally, one week after, I receive the items.
2. NO EXCHANGES: Chair and footstool were in person, a far darker color than the one in the pictures.
I asked for an exchange with a different color. They said that it is impossible because of the "Covid policy".
Very peculiar, never had a similar reply with any other Company.
I should fully return the items and make a new order asap.
3. FREE RETURN: On the selling page, just under the name of the items, a big "free return" sign is present.
Well, forget it.
I was told that it was impossible to collect the items, because of Covid. We are talking about the 7th of September, where everything, in terms of logistics, is back to normal!
I was told that the only way to return the items (29 kgs packed) was to deliver it to a Parcelforce collecting point (3.2 miles away from my house!).
I insisted for a collection, even if I needed to pay myself. Customer care answered no.
I had to take an UberX to Camden, dragging by myself the 29 kgs parcel.
At the collecting point, despite myself carefully following all the instructions, I was ridiculously told by the employee, that I should have booked a collection and they could not accept the parcel!
I talked my way through and the parcel arrived to the company firstly on Saturday (parcel refused) and then on Monday (parcel accepted).
4. THE REFUND, FIRSTLY ACCEPTED, THEN DENIED: So, from Monday to Thursday...silence.
Thursday pm, I finally receive a message saying that the company has fully received the items and that they were ready to process a full refund of 476£.
I said "thank you, I will proceed ordering the new color then".
Friday late PM I receive an email saying that, at a more detailed inspection, both items were "severely damaged", because the legs were not well packed (they have sent me the items to me with a single layer of thin paper around them, I returned them with 4 kgs of bubble wrap paper around, with no possible movement or damage of the items).
So, they have now estimated a damage of 350£ (over a 475£ total order!!!), but they are so magnanimous, that they are gonna charge "only" 200£ to me!
No pictures or any proof of this has been sent.
No possibility of a dialogue or to contest it.
That's it.

Don’t order from outside of the UK
I got delivered a damaged good to Germany and had to pay €30 for the return. I would expect Bombinate or the label to take on that cost but instead got a £20 voucher. Customer service was pretty responsive first but when I mentioned the good is damaged and that I feel it’s unfair to pay for the return they went silent.
Please do not order from Europe if you are not 100% sure that you won’t return the item. Best to not order at all from outside of the UK.

Good product and service
I was looking for a natural fabric fleece jacket and found a merino woolen one made by Jeckybeng. There was a mixup over import tarrifs, which Bombinate were able to sort out as promptly as possible. Their online support is easy to use and Bombinate lived up to their responsibilities with clear communication throughout. I am very pleased with the Jacket too!

Brexiteers have a lot to answer for!
I am delighted with my two mid-century accent chairs purchased through Bombinate. Good quality and they look great!
The downside has been the delivery process. The delivery window at the time of order was about 2 months (from Germany), although I only waited a month for my first chair. That it was ready for delivery was a complete surprise as I received no updates on progress - I found out via a letter from ParcelForce demanding I pay the customs duties and that my chair was waiting at the depot. Duly paid the duties and my chair arrived.
I contacted Bombinate customer service about having to pay duty and they could not be more helpful. I provided them with proof that I had paid from ParcelForce and I was refunded.
I then sat and waited for news of my second chair ...
nothing for 2 weeks. So, I contacted customer service again. Once again, extremely helpful and over the course of 3 or so days we got the bottom of the fact that my other chair had also been at ParcelForce's depot for about 3 weeks(!) awaiting payment of duty, but because no-one had been in touch with me about it I had no way of knowing or indeed anyway of paying the duty. Much longer and my chair would have been sent back to Berlin!
Now I cannot fault the team at Bombinate for the service they have provided to me in sorting out my issues with delivery and customs duty whenever I have contacted them, they have been fantastic, but there are serious issues with the supply chain. This cannot all be laid at the door of Bombinate themselves, everyone is dealing with the post-Brexit world and I think ParcelForce were amiss in not sending me another letter re the second parcel, but be aware if you have goods coming from overseas you may have to do a fair bit of leg work yourself to ensure you receive your products!
