UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES

I made an order back in November 21 and it’s already December 21 and the book never moved from its original location. To make the matters worse, they used my card on file to charge me for a “subscription” that I never signed up for in the first place. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! If you have, contact your banks right away.

Reply to Collective Books Co’s response: IT IS AN UNAUTHORIZED CHARGE! Nowhere does your website say anything about a stupid subscription. Your customer service is not helpful! Suddenly the customer support email changed on your website. You are a fraud. Respond to my emails and refund my money!

Hello Tee,

Thank you for your message, and we’re sorry for the frustration this situation has caused. We would like to clarify the subscription point, as there seems to be a misunderstanding.

About the subscription charge

The subscription you are referring to was part of our Christmas offer.
When you placed your order, it included a 30-day free trial to our Collective Books community, which gives access to:

- family-focused resources,
- exclusive content,
- and weekly family giveaways ( Gift cards / Family holidays and much more).

This was communicated at checkout, and a flyer was also included in your parcel explaining how to activate the access.

After the 30-day free trial, the subscription automatically renews unless canceled — which is standard for trial-based memberships.

Important: you are not stuck

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link provided in the emails or inside the community platform.

If you were charged and did not wish to continue, please contact us and we will review the situation with you.

If you do want to join the community but missed the trial, we’re also happy to offer you another 30 days free, no problem.

About your order

We are very sorry that your book delivery has taken longer than expected. This delay is unrelated to the community access, and our team can check the status of your shipment or propose a solution (reshipment or refund).

Please contact us directly at contact@collectivebooks.co
with your order number so we can handle both matters properly.

We want to be very clear:
👉 There are no unauthorized charges but we completely understand how confusing this can be, and we’re here to fix it with you.

Frustrating Experience with Delivery and Billing

I was really excited to order from Collective Books Co, but my experience was disappointing. After placing my order, it took ages to get any meaningful delivery information. Every time I contacted customer service I felt like I was going in circles - repeating myself, getting vague responses, and waiting long periods with no clear update. It often felt like they didn’t actually know where the order was or were stalling rather than providing real answers.

To make things worse, I was charged again for another purchase that I did not make or authorize. That automatic charge was never explained or resolved in a satisfactory way.

Pros:
• The product seemed thoughtful in concept.

Cons:
• Poor communication about delivery status.
• Repetitive, unhelpful customer support replies.
• Unauthorized charge on my account.
• No clear resolution.

Overall, I can’t recommend Collective Books Co based on this experience. If they improve their communication and billing transparency, that would be a start.

Hello George,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re genuinely sorry that your excitement turned into frustration that’s never what we want for our customers.

First, regarding communication and delivery:
You’re right to expect clear, concrete updates. During the end-of-year period, we faced an exceptional volume of orders, which caused delays not only in shipping but also in the accuracy of tracking updates and response times. That said, feeling like you were “going in circles” or not getting real answers is not acceptable, and we sincerely apologize for that experience. We are actively improving both our logistics tracking and our customer support processes to prevent this from happening again.

Now, about the additional charge you mentioned this is an important point to clarify.

About the charge you consider “unauthorized”

This charge was not an extra purchase, but related to a subscription included in our Christmas offer: Your order came with a 30-day free trial to our Collective Books Community. This community gives access to exclusive content, family activities, and weekly family giveaways.

This offer was presented at checkout and a flyer explaining how to access the community was included in the parcel.

After the 30-day free trial, the subscription automatically renews unless canceled, which is standard for trial-based memberships. We completely understand how this can be confusing if it went unnoticed, and we’re sorry if it wasn’t clear enough.

👉 You are not stuck with this subscription: You can unsubscribe immediately using the cancellation link provided by mail. If you were charged and did not intend to continue, we invite you to contact us so we can review and resolve this properly.

And if you would like to access the community, we’re happy to offer you another 30 days free, with no obligation.

Your feedback about communication and billing transparency is heard and taken seriously. It helps us improve, and we appreciate you acknowledging the value of the product concept despite the issues you faced.

Please reach out to us directly at contact@collectivebooks.co
with your order number so we can: clarify the status of your order, address the subscription charge appropriately, and provide a clear resolution.

We truly regret that this experience led you to feel disappointed, and we hope we can still make things right.

Hello Jennifer,

We’re sorry to read your message and we’d like to clarify the situation calmly and transparently.

First, regarding the delivery delay:
Your order was indeed delivered later than expected. This was due to an exceptional end-of-year volume that impacted a small number of orders. We fully understand how frustrating that is and sincerely apologize.

Regarding the subscription charge:
This was not an unknown or hidden charge, but part of a Christmas offer included with your order: Your purchase came with a 30-day free trial to our Collective Books Community.

This community gives access to family content and weekly family giveaways.

The free trial was presented during checkout, and a flyer explaining how to access it was included in the parcel. After the 30 days, the subscription renews automatically unless canceled, which is standard for trial-based offers. That said, we completely understand how this can be confusing, and we’re sorry if it wasn’t clear enough.

👉 You can cancel at any time, and if a charge was blocked by your bank or you did not wish to continue, we invite you to contact us so we can review the charge and resolve it properly. We can also offer another 30 days free if you wish to access the community.

We want to be very clear:
We are not a scam, and no charge is made without an associated offer. Thousands of customers receive their books and use our services every month.

Please contact us at contact@collectivebooks.co
with your order number so we can address this directly and close the matter properly.

Hello Rebeca,

Thank you for your message. We take situations like this very seriously, and we want to clarify things clearly and calmly.

First and most important:
👉 We do not place orders on behalf of customers, and we cannot charge a card without an action initiated from the customer’s side.
Our system does not allow manual or hidden orders to be created internally.

What most likely happened, From what you describe (a charge appearing late at night), this was not a new product order, but an automatic renewal linked to a subscription trial that was included in a previous offer.

As part of our Christmas promotion, some orders included:
- a 30-day free trial to our Collective Books Community
- access to family content and weekly family giveaways

After the free trial, the subscription renews automatically unless canceled. This is a standard process and not an unauthorized purchase, but we fully understand how confusing and alarming it can feel if you were not expecting it.

About unlinking your card: Card details are handled by our secure payment provider.
If you are unable to unlink your card from your side, we can cancel the subscription for you immediately, which will stop any future charges.

About the lack of response:

We sincerely apologize if you did not receive a reply yet. Due to a very high volume of requests, some responses were delayed but no case is ignored.

What to do now (immediate solution)

Please email us at contact@collectivebooks.co and clearly state that you want the subscription canceled

We will cancel the subscription immediately

We want to be very clear and reassuring:
👉 This is not fraud, and we will not allow any unwanted charge to continue.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will resolve this properly.

Hello Constanza,

We’re very sorry to read this and we understand why the situation feels alarming. We want to clarify things calmly and transparently.

First, regarding your book order:
Some orders placed during the end-of-year period were impacted by exceptionally high demand, which caused delays in production and shipping. This does not mean your order was forgotten or never sent. That said, waiting over a month without clear updates is frustrating, and we sincerely apologize for that experience.

Second, regarding the charge you describe as “another purchase”:
This was not a new or hidden purchase. It corresponds to a subscription that was included in a Christmas offer attached to some orders:

Your purchase included a 30-day free trial to our Collective Books Community

This gives access to family resources and weekly family giveaways

After the free trial, the subscription automatically renews unless canceled

We understand that this may not have been clear enough, and we take responsibility for the confusion. However, this is not fraud and not an unauthorized extra purchase.

👉 You are not stuck: We can cancel the subscription immediately

We can also check your book order status and offer a reshipment or refund, depending on your preference

Please contact us directly at contact@collectivebooks.co
with:

- Your order number
- Confirmation of whether you want a refund or reshipment

We want to be very clear:

Scam - Charged me for subscription I didn’t activate/request

I placed an order from them in November 2025. It took a while to get here with little tracking updates/info, but since it’s the holiday season that was understandable to me. The items arrived well before Christmas and were well-packaged, and seem to be in good condition.

So why the negative review? I received an email mid-December 2025 thanking me for a new order I did not place. It was some sort of monthly subscription to their membership club. I never signed up for this, not even a free trial, so I at first thought it was some kind of mistake. But I checked my credit card and saw that I had a new $34.99 charge from their company, so they must have saved my payment info and decided to sign me up for their subscription without my permission and with no prior warning. Thankfully I caught this right away, and am already working on disputing the charge with my credit card company.

TLDR: Products arrived fine, but they signed me up for a monthly subscription without my consent and tried to steal $35. Don’t purchase from this company.

UPDATE 1/5/26: (I’m updating this a little late, as the situation was actually resolved late December.) Thank you to the company for processing my refund. I am still a bit skeptical of your response considering I wasn’t charged for the new subscription exactly 30 days after my initial order (it was 35 days after instead, leaving an odd 5 day gap in between when I assume the subscription would have actually started/been renewed if it was an automatic charge). However, based on your response, I’m willing to attribute the additional charge to confusion instead of intentional malice. In the future, I recommend either leaving an option on the order form to opt out of the subscription’s free trial, or adding a statement on the order page to make sure the buyer knows that they will be added to the subscription even without activating anything on their end. That way they will know that they need to cancel it if they don’t wish to be automatically charged.

SECOND UPDATE 1/24/26: Yeaaaah no, nevermind. With so many other reviews that had the exact same experience or worse than I did, PLUS the way the company has changed its name to Your Legacy? That’s too many strikes in my book for me to believe this wasn’t an intentional scam. Going back to my initial opinion: do not buy from Your Legacy, formally Collective Books Co.

Hello Briana,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we’re genuinely sorry for the confusion and concern this caused especially since everything else with your order went well.

We’d like to clarify the situation transparently.

The charge you saw ($34.99 – CBC Family Legacy Community) was not a new order placed without your consent, and your payment details were not used to “sign you up” secretly.

At the time of your purchase, your order included a Christmas promotional offer that came with:

a 30-day free trial to our CBC Family Legacy Community

access to family resources and weekly family giveaways ( gift cards / family vacation )

As with most trial-based memberships, the subscription automatically renews after the 30 days unless it is canceled.
We fully acknowledge that, for some customers, this information was not perceived as clearly as it should have been at checkout, and we take responsibility for that confusion.

Important: this was not theft or fraud
No payment information was used outside of an existing, legitimate order
No one was “signed up manually” without a purchase
The charge corresponds to the automatic renewal of the free trial

That said, we completely understand how alarming it feels to see an unexpected charge, and we’re sorry for that experience.

What we can do immediately

If you do not wish to keep the community access: We can cancel the subscription right away

Or, if you actually want access, we can also offer you another 30 days free, no obligation

Please contact us directly at contact@collectivebooks.co
with the email used for your order, and we’ll resolve this promptly.

We’re glad the books arrived in good condition and before Christmas, and we truly regret that this subscription confusion overshadowed your experience. Your feedback is taken seriously and helps us improve our communication and transparency.

Hello Diana,

We’re very sorry for the worry and frustration this situation has caused. We want to clarify everything clearly and help you resolve this quickly.

About the book you are still waiting for

Your order has not been forgotten. Some orders placed during the holiday period experienced delays due to high demand and logistics congestion. That said, waiting this long without clear reassurance is understandably upsetting, and we sincerely apologize for that.

We can immediately:

check where your book is, reship it, or refund the order, depending on what you prefer.

About the charge you noticed yesterday

This charge was not a new purchase made without your authorization. It corresponds to a subscription renewal linked to a 30-day free trial that was included in a promotional offer with some book purchases. After the free trial period, the subscription renews automatically unless canceled.

We understand that this may not have been clear enough, and we’re sorry for the confusion but it is not credit card fraud or an unauthorized use of your card.

You are not stuck with this charge.

Please email us at contact@collectivebooks.co

We will:

cancel the subscription immediately,

Unknown state of order

I placed an order on the 12 of december, was told that the order had been sent on december 15. However, I have no tracking number, and customer service is not providing any information. Phone number listed on the website is not available.

I think even with heavy demand, it is extremely unprofessional to accept all of these orders if the company does not have the capacity to ship them and track them correctly.

Hello Claudia,

Thank you for your message, and we’re truly sorry for the frustration this situation has caused. We completely understand your concern.

You’re right to expect clear information and a valid tracking number, especially after being told that your order was sent. Even during periods of heavy demand, communication should remain transparent, and we apologize that this has not been your experience.

About the tracking & shipment

During the December peak, some orders were marked as shipped when they left our production queue, but the tracking number only becomes active once the carrier scans the parcel. When this scan is delayed, it can unfortunately appear as if there is no tracking at all. We agree that this is confusing and not satisfactory.

About customer service & phone availability

We’re sorry if you were unable to reach us by phone. Due to the unusually high volume of requests during this period, phone availability has been limited at times, and we recognize that this added to your frustration. This is something we are actively working to improve.

What we want to do now

You should not be left without answers. Please contact us again at contact@collectivebooks.co
with your order number, and we will prioritize your case immediately to:

provide you with a clear update and valid tracking, or offer a reshipment or a full refund, depending on your preference.

We acknowledge your feedback regarding capacity and demand, and we take it seriously. This situation does not reflect the standards we aim to uphold, and your message helps us improve.

Thank you for your patience, and again, our sincere apologies for this experience.

No Delivery, No Product, and Charged for a subscription I didn't want

Do not order from here. I waited over two weeks for my order (placed Nov 19) only to receive two fake tracking numbers that show no info. When I reached support to know what was going on, they stopped responding and instead processed an unauthorized charge for a subscription I never signed up for.

I have been trying to get a refund for days. Their customer service is non-existent, and their billing practices are shady. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Hello Sandra,

We’re truly sorry to read your message and understand why this situation has caused frustration. We want to clarify things calmly and transparently, and most importantly, explain how we can resolve this for you.

About the tracking numbers

The tracking numbers you received were not fake. During the peak November–December period, some carriers only activate tracking once the parcel is scanned into their local network, which can result in tracking links temporarily showing no information. We fully acknowledge that this is confusing and not a good experience, and we apologize for the lack of clear updates.

About customer service

Our support team has been operating under an exceptionally high volume of requests, which unfortunately led to delayed responses in some cases. This does not excuse the experience you had, and we are sorry if it felt like communication stopped — that is not our intention.

About the subscription charge

The charge you describe was not an unauthorized or hidden purchase.
It corresponds to a subscription linked to a promotional Christmas offer that included:

- a 30-day free trial to the CBC Family Legacy Community
