Creditsafe have been sharing my…
Creditsafe have been sharing my personal phone number with businesses and are claiming this falls under "legitimate and public interest". I'm not sure how it is in public interest or indeed in my interest for Creditsafe to be sharing my personal data, let alone for there to be any consideration for my privacy and safety.
Edit: I realise this might require a little bit of critical thought but do you think I have consented to my personal phone number being made public by another company? I have been dealing with them separately and claiming my personal phone number has been made public by another company without my consent isn't actually the gotcha you might think it is. It has already been removed from their page but the damage caused by by personal phone number is clearly already done as you seem to think you are justified in compromising someone's personal data. All this means is there are multiple companies presumably happy to not check if they are handling personal data and also happy to share it without consent.
Given you don't hold records of who accessed my number on your system, I don't think you can say for certain that your records showing my phone number weren't accessed by this other company and that Creditsafe have therefore been involved indirectly in my phone number being made public.
Creditsafe have not been able to explain why sharing a phone number registered on the TPS (which would suggest it is a personal phone number) was considered legitimate interest. Legitimate interest is not a magical catch all phrase that allows businesses to do whatever they want with personal data. The ICO states "You must also tell people that you have obtained their data or that you intend to share or sell it with other organisations for marketing purposes". Unsurprisingly Creditsafe did not inform me they had obtained my data with the intent to share it with other businesses. There is legitimate basis for processing public data from Companies House but I cannot see the basis for including my personal phone number.
Creditsafe cannot simply say it is legitimate interest without firstly identifying the legitimate interest, showing that the use of my personal information is necessary to achieve this and that the legitimate interest has been balanced against my interests, rights and freedoms. Creditsafe also can’t rely on legitimate interests if there is another reasonable and less intrusive way to achieve the same result.
Obtaining my number from a third party does not eradicate Creditsafe's responsibilities regarding my personal data which seems to be what they have suggested.
If anything this highlights the serious issues with not checking third party data. I don’t think you comprehend the serious and potentially dangerous impact that could occur by sharing personal phone numbers without consent. I am an autistic woman and this ongoing issues this will cause have been completely minimised by Creditsafe. I've already received at least one unsolicited marketing call because the TPS labelling in Creditsafe's data was not clear and was not included next to my phone number. Kind of ironic that a company with "safe" in their name have left me leaving anything but.

Generally good, disappointing additional services
We have used Credit Safe for many years and had really good customer service
We were recently contacted about additional services that would really help our business, however, they do not seem able to implement the additional services. Which is a bit disappointing
I think they need to get these additional services tested better so that they can implement what they are pushing their teams to sell
Great service
Connor was very patient with us whilst we went through our internal process to onboard the system. Continued contact to receive updates but was never pushy.

Rare find - Top notch service with a personable touch
As a user of Creditsafe, I'm consistently impressed by both the quality of the platform and the people behind it.
The data and insights are incredibly valuable, but what stands out most is the level of service.
It's rare these days to find a company that remains so committed to delivering genuine customer service through people rather than simply directing customers towards automated systems and self-service tools.
Every interaction with the team has been professional, responsive and focused on helping us achieve the best possible outcomes.
I'd have no hesitation recommending.

Just under 3 years ago i brought a company i worked for. We won a big order 350 k, we lost this order because Creditsafe gave us a poor rating, 3 years later we have trippled our profitability through turnover we have refurbed our offices and showrooms, and we are continously getting offers to sell. Creditsafe were detrimental to our business. I relay this story to all that come to see us. We are just finishing our biggest most profitable project yet.

Had the need for a reliable credit reference agency for a long time, and have been working with some for equally the same time.. however since we made the switch to Creditsafe UK they have been by a long distance the very best, and this was reaffirmed by the great work and support we always received to any enquiry or question from Mr Dale Rosser our Account Manager, he is a credit to the company and a talent to be retained! We would have no hesitation in recommending Creditsafe UK and Dale Rosser to anyone searching for a great and reliable credit reference agency. Really is a look no further situation!
