Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the customer service, describing it as inadequate, unresponsive, and difficult to access a human representative. People frequently encountered issues with their cards being blocked or suspended without clear explanation, leading to frustration and inconvenience, especially when traveling or making purchases. The response times from support were consistently reported as extremely slow or non-existent, leaving many users without resolution for extended periods. However, some people found the core concept of the service appealing, particularly the ability to consolidate multiple cards and the convenience of features like "going back in time" for transactions. A few customers also reported positive interactions with customer service when they were able to connect with a representative, praising their helpfulness and diligence in resolving issues.

Appalling lack of support and response…

Appalling lack of support and response from Curve. I contacted customer services to unblock my account, and two weeks later it is still locked with no resolution in sight.

There is no way to speak to a real person, and communication has been virtually non-existent throughout. For a paid service, this level of customer support is completely unacceptable.

Based on my experience—and clearly echoed by others—Curve’s support is shockingly poor. I would strongly advise others to stay clear.

Lacks ethics. Constant card blocks. Extremely poor customer service.

I am very disappointed with the customer service and resolution centre. There is no phone number available. Every contact point is automated by a chat bot and emails have generic auto responses. Nobody replies to the emails for ages. Complaints team never resolve your issue and never take any blame or liability. Curve protect is useless. It blocks your card so regularly, you hardly have a chance to use it, and takes 1-2 weeks to unblock if you’re lucky!
It’s a good concept but very poorly executed. All the insurance benefits get watered down and removed once you sign up and pay, citing policy changes etc etc. not an ethical business clearly.

Curve pay awful

I bought my payment ring in November. It worked great. Then last week it always declined. Now I have a message from Curve to say that their’partner’ No longer supports payments. So my paying is just a ring and not fit for purpose.
Curve say they are looking for a new ‘partner’. Totally dissatisfied.

Curve is getting worse and worse

Curve is getting worse and worse. I still remember when Curve compensated customers for misunderstandings and helped them feel comfortable on the platform. Nowadays, customers pay and are still ripped off with fees and extra charges. I like Curve less and less!

Worst customer experience ever

I recently bought a new phone and installed GrapheneOS on it. It's a security-focused operating system designed to prevent big tech companies stealing your data, endorsed by people like Edward Snowden. I had been told that contactless NFC payments are possible on GrapheneOS, but only through Curve Pay. The consensus was that the customer service is terrible, but that it works and many people describe having no problems with it.

The day my phone arrived, I installed the Curve app and started the verification process. I've done this many times for banks before and never had any issues. I submitted a picture of my passport, a scan of my face, and it even read the NFC chip in my passport. It gave an error saying "We are unable to verify you. Please contact customer support." I assumed I could just try again, so I reinstalled the app, but the error was tied to my phone number, so I contacted them.

The response simply said:

"Unfortunately, we are unable to verify your account based on the information provided during the registration process. As a result, we are unable to proceed with your application and cannot offer you Curve Pay at this time."

A further response said:

"We unfortunately cannot specify what information may have been used in our decision. This is to protect our internal security policies that are in line with our legal obligation to perform due diligence on our customers.

We apologise that we cannot offer more clarity, but the decision is final."

I was confused. All I wanted was to be able to beep my phone at the till like I'd done for years on my iPhone instead of having to remember my bank card. So, I lodged a formal complaint.

Just over 5 weeks later and the response was essentially "We understand you're confused and annoyed, but you still can't use the app and we're not telling you why."

So, now I'm forwarding it to the Ombudsman, but I doubt that will change anything. I've never experienced anything like this in my life. I have bank accounts, I have a good credit score, so I don't know what the problem is and they won't tell me. I guess I'll just have to accept the inconvenience or go back to my iPhone. Beyond annoying.

Laughable customer "service"

Laughable customer "service". Response times would be no slower if you hand wrote your request with a quill pen and ink then walked to hand deliver at whatever notional address they operate from.

Fintech my backside. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Virtually no support if you have issues that need resolving

I’ve been a customer for years without any issues. However my card was blocked, no contact as to why. Logged a support ticket that fast forward a week hasn’t been resolved. Shame really this is a great product. Other reviews suggest that will be the end of it as there is no support. Guess I’ll just close the account if I can in a few weeks since they will be holding my data for no reason.

I have nothing to say but good about…

I have nothing to say but good about Curve. Im using it since day one and never had any issues. Recently, for the first time, I had an unauthorized transaction, and after reporting it I was worried that I will have to deal with a bot but a real person joined the chat within next i5min and it was sorted out.
I can see a lot of negative rewies here but maybe Im lucy as I had not a single bad experience for all these years, and I joined Curve the first month this product was created, after doing my research about it. Im the og user. And my favourite features are the go-back-in-time and the frontend for my credit cards. Today a lot of competitors are offering zero fx fees, but these 2 features are still exclusively unique to Curve and I love it. The only thing is miss is ability to use my amex via Curve, back in days I was able to do that but not anymore for a very long time. This is the only downside for me.

Avoid - when things go wrong they don't act. Don't respond to emails either!

When Curve separated from Samsung, they refused to operate my account due to them being unable to verify my identity, despite operating my account for 3+ years. They then continued to bill me and take payment. I contacted them under their formal complaints procedures they upheld my complaint but still continued to bill and attempt to take payment. They have since failed to reply to any of my emails.

Terrible support. But the card itself is quite handy.

The card itself is quite handy, but over the past couple of years, the support has become terrible. On multiple occasions, I’ve had to contact them to report an unknown transaction or issue a chargeback, and they don’t respond for hours, maybe up to a day. This is even when reporting a security or fraud concern. I’m pretty sure they’re in breach of PCI standards.
I wish there was an alternative.

Support is absolutely non-existent

Ive had the card for a few years, no issue. It worked. However it stopped working (online, contactless and directly) in December for no clear reason so decided to try to contact support.

Theres no method to speak to a person.
First you have a Chatbot that just asks things you've already told it. Often times out.

Eventually if you can get a support ticket out of it, you receive an email saying "Responses delayed due to high volume". I did that in January, by March id still heard nothing so tried again.
Same email, same excuses, still no contact from support, still no action from any person at all.

It looks like nobody at all does support - its just auto responders and that's it. My card has now been broken for 3 months with seemingly no way of getting support at all to get it fixed.

Good idea.... when it works

Good idea when it works.
Unfortunately, I've had the card two months and spent 6 weeks of it blocked. It works a week, you spend four weeks blocked for some odd reason and waiting for a fix or a reply as to why. They then magically unblock you after the longest wait, with no explanation, only for you to get blocked again without notice or reason that same week.
And the cycle continues.
