Another Daylight Energy Victim
Similar to so many others, I paid nearly £4k deposit in Sep 22 for a 6kW solar PV and 16 kWh battery system. Told by Daylight on 9 Jan that DNO approval had come through (no paperwork though) and install would be Mar 2023. Come March and they are not replying to emails, phone calls or messages. Now the company has actually entered liquidation. My deposit was paid by BACS (at Daylight's request) and my bank Smile
initially refused to refund. I reported the issue to their Scam dept and after only a few days they concluded I had been scammed and refunded my deposit (edited since the refund). I have reported the issue to the Police's Action Fraud system. I have registered my issue with HIES, who Daylight claimed they were insured with. HIES is currently liasing with the liquidator, work ongoing. I was contacted by Solar Service Solutions, who were appointed by the liquidator to approach affected Daylight customers to offer an installation service, but it seems this doesn't mean they will get my deposit as part-payment. So... currently I am without any G99 paperwork (the DNO approval) and back at square one looking for installer quotes. A year older and sadder.
They have taken my deposit and have…
They took my deposit in October 2022 and have not done any installation. As I paid by Bank Transfer rather than credit card or paypal my bank says they can't do anything to reclaim my deposit. My bank recommended to report to Citizens Advice Bureau, Trading Standards and the police via Action Fraud.
So I submitted a fraud report online to the police via reporting.actionfraud police uk
It didn't take too long. They confirmed it is a fraud. This report goes to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) to investigate. The more people submit a report the more will encourage them to investigate
Citizens Advice Bureau said the first step is to email Daylight Energy, see below. Then to get back in touch with them for next step if they do not comply

If you fail to start the work in this time, I will have no option but to consider taking the matter further.
Daylight Energy Ltd and David Andrew…
Daylight Energy Ltd and David Andrew Humphriss (dob March 1986) in particular appear to be doing a runner. They haven't provided any service what so ever since the end of January, have indicated and written that the company is going into liquidation, but haven't actually done so. In the mean time there are various customers are in limbo with deposit money outstanding and the insurance backed service hiesscheme.org.uk appears unable or unwilling to reimburse until the company is in liquidation.
Daylight Disappointment.
Daylight energy took our deposit in September and did not supply the goods as with so many people. Fortuna came to our rescue and provided us with a slightly smaller system and a battery as SSEN would not transfer the DNO approval . The system was up and running in 15 days from our first conversation with them. We cannot thank Fortuna enough for all of their help.
Are they in liquidation
Are they in liquidation? Looks like we have had the same situation as everyone else
Company going bust
Company going bust. No contact from them, zero customer service. Now got to try and get deposit back
Daylight energy is a fraud
This company is a fraud. We paid our £2200 deposit in October 2022. By January 2023 we discovered request for permission to council had not been submitted and advised to wait for 60 days. Been chasing since February only to discover they are now in liquidation. I had also checked companies house for registration and accounts and it all appeared fine. I am so gutted that this has happened. I paid by bank transfer so unsure how to proceed in getting my deposit back. Anyone else in a similar position ?
Incompetent
Incompetent, ignorant and deceitful, I managed through court action to mitigate my situation. Friends of mine sadly lost their deposit as this lowlife went under. Clueless is not a defence for incompetence.
Daylight Energy rip off
Sounds like I am not alone in my anger at Daylight Energy, and it sounds like he has used the same delaying tactics on most of us.
Lost a member of staff,
Have to resend your DNO form.
Xmas break has extended the time frame.
then they do not answer the phone or reply to email.
And when enough is enough I find the insurance has ran out, although the paperwork states - will not pay out if the company is still solvent - and as far as I can tell they have not registered for insolvency.
Totally gutted, although writing to all I have mentally written off the £3270 deposit, and now don't know if we can afford to have another go at Solar!
credit card recharged
Pleased to report that credit card company has recharged my deposit. I hope everyone else is able to recover their potential losses. However I am still furious at the treatment of everyone br Dayligh and the loss of not having the benefit of solar. My interest in thia project is regrettably seriously diminished.
For every creditor
Dear everyone
I recently became aware that I have obviously lost my “deposit” with Daylight energy. This was paid back in Nov and they have not contacted us since that payment.
I am a chartered management accountant and chartered tax adviser and I run my own successful practice. Unfortunately, within the small business world, unless an insolvency practitioner is appointed, we won’t see any justice.
In my opinion, Daylight Energy will have a debit on the directors’ loan account and, in addition, deposits have been treated as sales, which they shouldn’t have been. A liquidator can unwind these actions and will chase the directors/shareholders for any debts to creditors (us).
I am going to fund a compulsory liquidation, as even though google says daylight energy isn’t trading, no liquidators have been appointed. This is common in the small business world, if no liquidators are not appointed it is likely that David will get away with his fraudulent trading.
You can all help me, I need to gather details of all those who have lost money. I need details of deposits and unfinished work. If you are one of those people, can you please e-mail me on the e-mail address daylightenergydebt at gmail.com. If you have had a refund through your bank or credit card provider, I don’t need any details.
Its important that I gather as many creditors as I can as once I force Daylight Energy into liquidation we will want to appoint the liquidators I know who have a specialist partner for investigations. They have a track record of director prosecutions. I will need creditor support to take this action.
I’m sure you can find my accountancy practice, please don’t phone or email me there as I want to keep this all in one place and I am exceptionally busy during the day.
Thank you in advance for reading my message and for your assistance in the matter.
Kind regards
Phil Clark

Lost £3.8k. Their rep (really good bloke) called me today and he was made redundant but is still trying his best to help. He doesnt know their actual status as to whether they have actually gone under. I paid £200 of it by CC and DLE sent me a deposit insurance policy but it lapsed TWO DAYS AGO!!! Have made a section 75 claim and hope I get it back.
Report Fraud
All who are effected by this company - please submit a fraud claim to the police as the company is still active on companies house and has not gone into liquidation according to companies house. Please join the facebook group "daylight energy ripped off customers" to maintain contact. The more of us who report the fraud, the more likely the police will investigate.
Voluntary Liquidation
I have looked at Companies House and London Gazette but can find nothing being reported as going into Voluntary Liquidation. Does anyone have details of the VL?
Conned
I paid a £2.5k deposit in August last year - have been trying to contact with no luck - seems like I, like many, have been conned.

has gone into voluntary liquidation
after several email to various head of department and the rep that made my quote for the work , he informed me that the company has gone into voluntary liquidation in early February this year and was told to try to get my compensation from HIES deposit insurance company and register my claim so any one with deposit paid and no work done follow this path to try to recover your deposit money
