What is happening with Daylight Energy??
Placed an order and paid a deposit of c£2000 in January 2022 for a Powerwall 2, with Daylight Energy. Poor communications and excuses about Tesla delays have been a feature of Daylight's service since then, and to date no sign of the Tesla Battery. 4 weeks ago was offered the SolaX as an alternative, but no communications since. No answer from email or office number. Doesn't look good!
My research into this company failed
Paid deposit Sept 2022. The company has not responded to emails or phone calls from me since 31st Jan. Making a section 75 claim on my credit card. Why is Daylight Energy listed as 'active' on the gov website when its not?
Paid deposit via credit card in Aug…
Paid deposit via credit card in Aug 2022. Delays started almost immediately after this. Heard from them last in Jan when they said March 2023 install would occur. Tried calling this week and phone system just going to message, and no-one calls back. Called salesperson on mobile who said that they were all laid off in January, and he has heard company has gone into administration. Hoping credit card company comes through with a refund.
Don't pay a deposit to this company
Don't pay a deposit to this company. I paid a deposit of nearly £3000 in June 22. The installation work for our solar panels was put back again and again so we asked for a refund. David humpriss, the managing director, promised to send me a cheque refund a few weeks ago. Nothing has materialised. and now I am concerned they are in financial difficulties
I thought \I had done my due diligence…
I thought \I had done my due diligence on this company after checking their balance sheet on Companies House it showed a very small company but solvent due to installation problems I wanted to cancel I then got a very angry call from David Humphries after my post on Trustpilot so I asked him to return the deposit.I was taken in by the salesman and lost out .I would suggest when buying solar you check them out at Companies Houe to see the financial status before buying , we live and learn.
This company is NOT a scam
This company is NOT a scam! It just got too big too quick and was unbelievably unorganised. It relied on sub contractors. We had a sales guy visit in February’22. To cut a very long story short we do have a system of sorts, not working fully and too much weight on our roof. We were lied to many times. We only have a DNO and G99 paperwork now as I realised and contacted National Grid myself! DNO obtained by myself in late November! This should have been obtained before panels were installed (they went on our roof in April ‘22) we were away May, June, July thinking we were selling to the grid but couldn’t due to no DNO! I also obtained the G99 myself via National Grid! five weeks ago! This paperwork should be sent to national grid within 28 days of installation!!! The staff, mainly Victoria were ‘always right’ insisting many, many times they had a DNO even though a wonderful lady from National Grid spoke to her directly and told her they didn’t!!!!! Victoria NEVER apologised and was always very rude! I could go on for ages about a HUGE amount of issues. I hope David Humphriss is reading all these.

We are unable to contact this company and on Google maps is “permanently closed”Where do we go now ?
We are taking advice via Citizen’s advice and Trading standards.
DAYLIGHT ROBBERY UNLIMITED.
This company is totally corrupt in my opinion. Took my deposit ok, and that was when the tricks started.
Virtually no communication from them. System did not work to my requirements.
Cancelled and the promised refund never materialised.
Company vacated their registered premises without warning.
Deposit refunded by bank charge back.
I’m one of the lucky ones.
Scam at its best!
Scam at its best!
Come over to our house looked professional and had the whole chat of knowledge however after falling for this, paid £3000 deposit 3 months ago and haven’t had any correspondence since and have now realised that one of the people that we dealt with isn’t working for the company and any contact number we have goes to divert! Do not even think about dealing with this fake company we are in the process of getting our money back.. hopefully !!
This Company is in dire difficulties
I'm working on behalf of a client of this company who like so many, has been a victim of what appears to be insolvency. Actions to take
1. If deposit was paid by Credit card, this can be claimed back via the CC company
2. See advice from your local Citizens Advice (in person, online or via phone). They will help with a letter of complaint to the Trading Standards Office (the more that complain the better) and Company House.
3. Check government insolvency register website and see if the company and or director David Humphriss appear on this list, if they do then insolvency has been applied for and the administrator appointed.
4. Once the administrator is known, send a recorded letter and a copy of any receipts stating the company owns you money (state how much). This will go on record and once assets are liquidated then pay-outs to creditors will take place.
There is no guarantee you will get all or any money back but you can definitely try.
There's also a Facebook page (look for company name) set up to keep victims up to date with news.
screwed
All. same position.

Liquidation proof
Hi anyone know how I can get a letter/proof of daylight energy going into receivership, need it to claim back through credit card ,thank you in anticipation Andy
Have we been missold by these people?
Like everybody else, it seems we are victims of a company, overstretched, poorly run, have taken the money and about to bolt. I feel sorry for those who have paid but have nothing to show for it.
When we first looked at Daylight Energy early 2022, they rated well with Trustpilot. However, after a third party inspection, it turned out the surveyor did not know what he was doing, the installation was poorly carried out and was unsafe, because of how the panels have been placed, we have very poor generation, and we have had negligible advice and aftersales help. We have been missold from beginning to end. We have a complaint with NAPIT being ignored by Daylight Energy, so they are about to be suspended by their regulatory body and "will not be able to notify any jobs through the NAPIT member portal or any MCS notifications."
Deposit refunded...
Update: 10/3/2023
Received from HIES this morning:
"I am writing to advise you of the current situation with Daylight Energy. HIES is in talks with Daylight Energy who have indicated that they will be appointing a liquidator to manage the affairs of the business and this dialogue will be followed with a formal letter to the company. Once a liquidator is appointed, I will be able to advise you on the best way forward with your complaint/claim."
We paid a deposit of £3.3K on 4th October 2022. Yesterday (8/3/23) HIES confirmed that our deposit never reached them. It's entirely possible that any Deposits made after this date will be lost if paid by BACs. Warning - HIES only guarantee your deposit, if received, for 120 days.
Fortunately, we paid by Tesco Credit Card. Today... just 14 days after raising a Refund, the full deposit was in our Bank account.
Now instructing a new PV installer (Evergreen power). No deposit and signed up for a buy-now-pay-later payment method. They only get paid after completing the installation.
Same as everyone else deposit paid in…
Same as everyone else deposit paid in November with install due in Feb. emailed and phoned but no response. did manage to call one of the mobile numbers and it must have been a personal number of an ex employee who said he had a few people call him. one of the reps also replied to an email but hadn't worked for them for months. Luckily we paid on Credit card so will get the deposit back. Our deposit was also registered with HIES who said they had a list of people to get back to when they knew more. They also said they had spoken to the company director and were monitoring the situation. now have to go through the whole DSO approval process again which will take 3 months !!! better off than some though so thankful for that.
Looks like we’ve been had!!!!!
Looks like we’ve been had!!!!!
I’ve paid this company 3k in September and have done nothing but chase them. Eventually I was given an install date of end of March. I’ve been calling constantly to just get an answerphone.
The sales rep believes they have gone into liquidation. Just what I need right now!
Another potential lost deposit
Another potential lost deposit - paid via debit card so will be looking at a "chargeback" from my bank on the grounds of no service provided/fraud (as guarantees on the website/paperwork have proved to be false). Would be useful to know if the company does go into liquidation as that may offer another route to claim back deposits
We've been stung too.
*UPDATE*
I've seen a few recent reviews from folk who are new to the news - the advice currently is:
If you have paid any part of the deposit or contract using a credit card or finance, then please contact your credit card or finance provider and ask to make a claim under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
If you paid (like me) through direct debit then request a Charge Back from your bank and open a claim on the basis that the "service" you bought was not forfilled and therefore fraud.
AND ABSOLUTLY get hold of HIES (Google "HIES consumer code" to find a telephone number, we can't post numbers on here) as they are helping to get the whole thing sorted out (because they "vetted" Daylight Energy and so probably feel a little embarrassed).
We've been stung too. £3k+ deposit paid in November and our deposit insurance runs out on the 18th of this month so we desperately need the company to officially close so we can claim (not holding our breath - the communication and paperwork was shocking all along. We should have smelled a rat).
We are in the same position
We are in the same position. We paid a deposit in January 2023 and cannot get hold of anybody to find out what is going on. We have tried numerous times to contact Daylight Energy and cannot get hold of anyone. Can you please update us and keep us involved in any action that is going to be taken. Can we create a wats app group or something to keep us all involved and find a way of getting us all our money back.
