I think this could be all fraud !
I made a report on here which seems to have disappeared. What is the connection with HIES.? Are they involved in the fraud I like everyone paid a large sum to DEL back in November having been assured that our funds were being put in a trust fund administered by HIES and held on our behalf. When chasing progress in early February I was told that it was the electrical companies that were swamped and couldn’t keep pace with requests. In fact, they needed things to happen because as the HIES account the company had not received any funds from us and it was obviously needed to trade.
On Thursday of last week I called HIES saying no mails were answered or phones answered and that the Sales team had been made redundant. I was told they would investigate and call back Monday. After visiting the site on Monday and it was all closed and another company said they had gone. I called HIES again and was advised that they would investigate as they had contact with the MD via their due diligence process.
HIES phoned me on Tuesday saying they had checked with the MD and that they were still trading and would now be answering calls. I again phone but now a recording device was installed. Still no call back! I advised HIES that their information I was given by them was wrong.
Yesterday HIES phoned me to say that DEL was now in liquidation and to use my credit card charge back scheme. Thus avoiding a claim on their Insurance company I expected even though there was a £100 excess.
It appears HIES Is nothing more than an insurance broker for the policy they are protecting from claims. I feel their due diligence process needs investigating as well as the operation of Daylight Energy Ltd.
I feel there has been deliberate fraudulent action as the same directors were connected with another failed company - DAYLIGHTENERGY LIMITED note no space !!
Daylight Energy have had my deposit of…
Daylight Energy have had my deposit of £4K since March 2022 for 2 Tesla batteries. Solar installed but batteries never materialised and it appears the company is being liquidated. Deposit now lost and the VAT relief on purchasing batteries is not applicable as I will not be purchasing with a solar install - double whammy!! Oh and the DNO needs to be transferred from Daylight Energy to a new provider and they are not available to transfer. What a mighty C*ck up! It appears DH got too greedy and took the money of lots of innocent people. No sign of an apology or any explanation as to why the company has failed!
Same story with me.
Same story with me. Paid deposits for solar panels & air-source heat pump systems in December 2022 & January 2023. Alarm bells starting ringing when the company who carried out the heat-loss survey for the air-source heat pump informed me that they had not been paid by Daylight Energy. I followed up with five separate emails asking for a written update, with the last one sent to David Humphriss, all without reply. Also could not get through on their land-line. Luckily had paid with a credit card and started a claim on Monday. Checked with the credit card dispute team today, Thursday, and the claim has been approved, thank goodness! I paid by a NatWest Mcard and went through their website - had to fill out an easy to use form to make a claim - if that helps anyone.
Daylight Energy Ltd collapse
Sorry to say I have fallen victim to the ‘guaranteed ring-fenced’ deposit statement too. I am £2.5k lighter now which is bitterly disappointing having waited since Aug 22. My install was due to start on Mon 27 Feb 23. If like me you paid the deposit invoice foolishly by bank transfer then the Bank has no obligation or interest in supporting you to recover the money. If you paid by debit card you get some chance of recovery under the DD guarantee scheme governed by the FCA and for those of you who paid by Credit Card you are golden…Section 75 obligates the bank to refund you in the event of fraud (if this is what has happened). I can’t seem to join the WhatsApp Group talked about earlier in the thread. I will monitor this site for any updates us victims have.

A whatsapp group is good but i could`nt connect to the one suggested but go to Linkedin there is lots of chat on the from the company employees and it seems the David Humphriss the owner has blocked all messages and removed all mention of his company
Daylight Energy Closed Down?
Suffering from the company seemingly being closed down having paid a deposit. No replies to email and phone calls. Posts on social media show that staff have been made redundant. I've raised a complaint with the Insolvency Service: Investigations and Enforcement Services. It would be great if others affected could do likewise to get administration/insolvency formalised asap. This will help if anyone else is falling back on a section 75 credit card claim.
yes they have run off with my money too…
yes they have run off with my money too
Mine was an october deposit
they are no longer answering their phones this week.
Last month they kept saying it was a database problem
Avoid at all cost. MD needs to start answering these questions
Exactly same experience as other people and have lost my deposit. Hasn’t been registered with HEIS and getting no response from the company. Questions need to be answered on why deposit weren’t protected and also why they carried on taking orders.
I’ve set up a community WhatsApp group if anybody wants to join to keep everyone updated. Can’t post a direct link but take out the spaces and it should work

No real news apart from according to another company they have 300 orders that were placed and are potentially affected.
This company has gone into receivership…
This company has gone into receivership and it would seem that everyone who put a deposit down from August on has been a victim of a deciet. I was given numerous dates for installation and all the stories I hear on here are the same as mine. I doubt if any of us are covered by insurance as I doubt any premium was paid. I would suggest that we set up a group for a civil action if anyone is interested.
Update
Further to my previous entry I have established that my deposit was never registered with HIES. Having spoken to HIES their advice is send a letter of complaint by way of recorded delivery to the company address and demanding an answer within 14 days. This remains HIES advice even though there is clear information that the company have vacated their registered offices. Seems a bit of a waste of time but will follow down that route.
This company is under investigation
Salesman's dates went well out of the window and the deposit insurance expired. Wrote to the company asking them to extend the insurance but they ignored this request. There is a wall of silence from the company so I contacted NEIS (regulator) as they are in several breaches of the codes of practice. NEIS advised that the company is under investigation and if I payed the deposit by credit card to consider a reclaim against it.
BUYER BEWARE - DON'T GO THERE.
I paid by credit card a deposit to this company is October 2022 in excess of £3000. I was advised that the company would be contacted my Network Distributor Operator, in my case SSE, to make application for the installation. Based on their (DE Ltd) information the application might take 65 days so I expected to here something back by the end of December or at least early in the New Year. Suffice to say I had an email saying that the DNO application was taking longer than expected. I contacted SSE and was advised that a response would be sent to DE Ltd by the 17 February at the latest. A check today with SSE advised me that DE Ltd were given the approval on the 14 February but the "witness fee" had not been paid by DE Ltd so as such nothing can happen. SSE advise that they demand the witness fee from companies who have provided inconsistent work, in this case Daylight Energy! Good companies are apparently given a Trust Certificate. Despite several phone calls, all unanswered and not even an available answerphone, I have placed this matter into dispute with my credit card company. I have also contacted Check a trade and have advised them of what has taken place. They have sent a message to DE Ltd who have 7 days to respond to my negative review. I'm not holding my breath.
In simple terms the customer care operated by Daylight Energy appears to be non existent.
Daylight Energy ceased trading???
Similar experience to the current crop of negative reviews. No responses from Daylight Energy to emails, telephone or website live chat since December 2022. Paid deposit September 2022. I have contacted HIES who confirmed the deposit was never registered with them and in any event the 120 day guarantee period has expired. Daylight Energy have gone quiet. Theoretically it is still trading as no insolvency has been recorded at Companies House. The company has been removed from Checkatrade.
The company is in breach of contract and as a result I have made a formal complaint.
Worst Nightmare of a Company.
They fitted solar panels in wrong place on roof, did not check that connection to inverter was wrong, fitted a different brand of panels to what I had signed up for without telling me up-front. Still need all certification for solar panel installation and have a battery fitted but they are not responding to emails or to phone. Are they still trading?
Have now had email (27th Feb) from them with certificates but still no news on battery installation. I paid my deposit in early August last year.
Update (1 March): have been informed by SSE that Daylight Energy had not submitted a DNO which they claimed to have done in August and also have claimed on the MCS certificate.
Company now in liquidation
We paid a deposit in Aug 2022. Our DNO was not dealt with at that time and was eventually sent in Oct. A delay of 2-3 months.
We then had to wait until January 2023 for approval from the grid. We visited the company premises in Jan as we were becoming increasingly frustrated. We were assured that all would be well and that the installation date would be communicated soon.
We visited again today after trying many times to call them after our emails were left unanswered. We were told by staff from another unit the bailiffs arrived on Friday and the staff had all left. Driving back we spotted the MD and confronted him. He confirmed the liquidators were now in the process of dissolving the company.
We will never, ever trust anyone again. After paying the deposit in good faith and expecting the job to be done, we've just kissed goodbye to over £4k. We know we are not the only ones, hopefully some of you will get your money back.
Paid deposit end of Sept
Paid deposit end of Sept. DNo eventually came through just before xmas. 9/1 emailed Emma for an ETA, was told it was now with the installation team and she would get them to respond. Lester Chine emailed to say that I was in the installation program for Feb. 27/1 Emailed Lester for an update as my boss is doing the scaffold for me. Lester replied.....Due to the weather and other operational issues, all our installations have had to be pushed back and so it is likely your installation will now take place in March.I asked for more specifics as need notice for my boss . Lester replied....Unfortunately, I can’t be more specific at this time, but we will give you at least 2 week’s notice. As soon as I can advise a week or date this will be relayed to you. Phoned and left message 20/2 no response. Emailed 21/2 no response. Now very worried. I paid on credit card but that was 152 days ago so not sure if I will be eligibale for a refund. Very dissapointing as they had such good reviews and we had done scaffold for them for ages up until end of the year.
A tale of woe
I placed my order for solar panels and a battery in September 22 and paid a deposit of nearly £2500.
I received an email in November that my DNO was OK and installation would be in happening shortly.
In December I was told there was a battery shortage but after agreeing to fit a larger battery, installation would be in Jan/Feb. However by mid February I had heard nothing, so managed to speak to someone who told March 1st. Then I was told they had lost their installation team and could not give me a date.
This last week I have tried to phone them and the phone is unanswered, I have sent emails, they are unanswered, have they gone bust, have I lost my deposit, I fear this may well the the case. To say I am dissatisfied would be an understatement!
Future not looking sunny for Daylight Energy!
EDIT 3rd March:
David Humphriss is listed as director for another company that is in the process of being struck off - PIV Direct Ltd. Same correspondence address as Daylight Energy.. but interestingly, different year of birth!?..
He is also director of Redheat Solutions Ltd which appears to have had several strike off attempts but are still trading.
We placed our order back in July; finally got the panels installed throughout January (it took one month of to-ing and fro-ing for the panels to be fitted correctly). The panels are all working well and we are now happy with them, but it was a stressful process getting them installed.
The issue we now have is that Daylight Energy have now gone silent and we are still waiting on the MCS certificate and for the batteries to be installed.
We have been advised by our sales rep that he was made redundant two weeks ago along with some other staff. This, alongside with information provided by others on here is not reassuring! We have also noticed that they seem to have closed down their Facebook page
Ready to blow a fuse
Ready to blow a fuse – and not a solar panel in sight!
If despite this sorry tale you’re still thinking of doing business with DE my advice to potential new customers is:
• Do not agree to a 25% deposit
• Only place an order on the basis of an agreed delivery date in writing
• Keep a log of all attempts at communicating with DE and promises made by them.
• Check directly with the DNO on a regular basis as my impression is that this is used by DE as an excuse for delays.
We ordered a solar and battery system September 2022 with a delivery date end of November. There was a problem with the DNO (not least because the company had failed to make the application) but a few calls by me to National Grid resulted in a DNO within two weeks, well before the installation date of November. It is worth a call to your DNO provider to ensure that the application has been made and the correct information supplied.
Delivery promises then went from November to December, to January and eventually February 13th. Communication was extremely difficult with long phone waits, no response to messages left and no response to emails. In January I wrote a derogatory Trustpilot review which resulted in David Humphriss (CEO) phoning me within three hours of the post going live. After a couple of days, I received the 13th February as an installation date.
A week before the installation was due to start I was told that DE had lost an installation team and the delivery would go out about two weeks. Despite many abortive phone calls (goes to “leave a message for a call back”), emails, and text messages to David Humphriss over the last few weeks I have still not got a new date and never get a call back despite leaving umpteen messages requesting one.
My impression is that the company has not planned or resourced its delivery schedule to customer needs leading to angry customers left in the dark and concerns whether their deposits are safe. I can understand that the whole industry is very busy at the moment but holding on to such large sums of money is inexcusable. I have asked for nearly all of my deposit back as the credit card protection scheme only protects 120 days from the realisation of a problem.
COMPANY IS IN LIQUIDATION No sign of installation, ZERO RESPONSE from company.
UPDATE - David has now replied on the facebook page Daylight energy ltd ripped off customers.
HIES apparently never received any monies from David Humphriss the MD to cover your deposits - so, this is a clear case of FRAUD, you can report him to the police at their actionfraud website - he apparently assured customers their deposits would be protected by HIES/held in a protected account etc and yet HIES have been telling people they didn't receive anything from him.
He needs to be reported to the POLICE, and I would strongly suggested everyone else affected also report him to the police for fraudulent activities so they can have as large a case file on him as possible.
Paid a deposit for installation back in October, company is not replying to any messages, emails or phone calls. Can't get any response from them, no one is answering the phone. Will have to contact the bank to get our deposit back as no sign of when any installation is to take place, and no response whatsoever from the company. DISGUSTING.
