DoYouSpain has been the least expensive on every car rental search I looked at for the 3 car rentals we will be using in Spain. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that our inbound fli... See more

I was travelling with my husband, who booked a prepaid rental with DoYouSpain (ref DYS‑215219829) and also bought their Platinum Excess Insurance. We both believed that we were paying a final price and that the insurance would protect us from extra costs and huge deposits at the desk.
When we arrived at Click Rent in Palma de Mallorca, we were told a completely different story: they would only give us the car if we accepted a 4,000 € deposit with standard CDW, or bought their own SCDW insurance and still left a 1,700 € deposit on the card. They also said that the Platinum Excess Insurance from DoYouSpain was not accepted and did not change these deposit requirements.
For us as passengers and customers, this was very stressful and felt like a trap. None of these conditions were clearly shown during the booking process – the important information about the deposits appears only in a PDF after you have already paid. We were standing at the desk with our luggage, just minutes after booking, and suddenly faced demands for huge deposits and extra insurance that we never agreed to.
Because of these unexpected conditions, my husband decided not to take the car. We were left without the rental we had paid for and had to change our plans.
We then tried to contact DoYouSpain support several times. For four days we received no proper reply, and the phone support for the insurance was very unhelpful – no clear explanation, no solution, and very low‑quality customer service.
From a passenger’s perspective, this experience was extremely disappointing: we trusted the “Platinum” insurance and prepaid booking, but in reality faced hidden deposit requirements, pressure to buy local insurance, and poor support. I hope DoYouSpain will take this seriously, refund the money, and change the way they present insurance and deposits so other families do not end up in the same situation.

I booked a prepaid rental with DoYouSpain (booking ref DYS‑215219829) for a car from Click Rent at Palma de Mallorca Airport. I completed the booking and payment at around 12:56 on 8 July 2026, and the pick‑up time on the voucher was 13:00 – just a few minutes later. Together with the rental I purchased DoYouSpain’s Platinum Excess Insurance, believing I was paying a final price with proper insurance included.
Immediately after booking, I went to the Click Rent desk. They were willing to give me the car, but only under the following conditions: either blocking a 4,000 € deposit on my card with standard CDW, or buying their own SCDW insurance and still leaving a 1,700 € deposit on my card. They also told me that my Platinum Excess Insurance purchased through DoYouSpain would not be accepted and does not change these deposit requirements, and that without agreeing to these conditions they would not hand over the car.
None of this was clearly explained during the booking process. The important information about the 4,000 € / 1,700 € deposit is only hidden in a PDF voucher that you receive after payment. The way DoYouSpain presents “Platinum” insurance makes you think you won’t face such huge deposits or be forced into extra local insurance at the desk.
Because of these unexpected and unacceptable conditions, I refused to take the car. As a result, the service was not provided on the terms I agreed to when booking through DoYouSpain.
When I contacted DoYouSpain, I was told that a refund is only possible if you cancel at least two hours before the start of the rental. In my case this is simply impossible: I made the booking at 12:56 for a 13:00 pick‑up, discovered the real conditions immediately at the desk, and there was no way to cancel “two hours before” because the booking itself was created just minutes before the pick‑up time. This policy is unfair and completely disconnected from real‑world use.
I also tried to contact DoYouSpain support several times. I submitted requests through the website and did not receive any reply for four days. I called the insurance support phone number as well, and the way my case was handled was at a very low customer service level – no clear explanation, no solution, and no real willingness to help.
I am now requesting a full refund for the prepaid rental and for the Platinum Excess Insurance, since the vehicle was never collected and the insurance could not be used.
Overall, this experience feels misleading and unfair:
– Insurance sold as “Platinum”, but still huge deposits and pressure to buy local insurance.
– Key conditions (4,000 € / 1,700 € deposit) only visible in a PDF after payment.
– Rental company willing to give the car only if I accept conditions that were never disclosed during booking.
– A “2‑hour cancellation” rule that makes refunds impossible when you book close to the pick‑up time.
– Poor support response: several days with no reply and very low‑quality handling of my case.
I hope DoYouSpain will review this case, refund my money, and improve transparency around insurance, deposit requirements and cancellation rules. Otherwise, I will have to escalate the case through my bank and Spanish consumer authorities.

Could not rent the car and with me other customers because my card (3) didn't have the numbers embossed (like they used to be in the '80s).
Still waiting for reimbursement, by the way...
