Elavon abruptly closed our merchant…
Elavon abruptly closed our merchant account with no warning and no clear explanation. Support agents couldn’t tell us why, other than a vague internal note saying “do not reopen.”
Before closing the account, Elavon debited our bank six times (over $20,000 total) labeled as “merchant service adjustments,” with no written breakdown or justification provided.
When we escalated, we were told Elavon “exited the business relationship” and that policy prevents them from sharing details—yet they kept the funds.
Lack of transparency, poor communication, and extremely concerning risk practices. Merchants beware.

I will be aware how to search for the service and merchandise. Company it s very disorganized and not supporting at all Canadian service customer. I am in a 3 yrs loop writing, calling and spend hrs to resolve an issue not from my hand. Overcharged for item never delivery on top and very frustrating how they handled. Each time it s a change in regulations and not worth for a waiting for the refund. Imagine calling from Canada each time to USA customer service and aknowledge that even Canada service has washed their hand blame USA need to send me the refund. Big company not deserve the title.

Serious Mishandling of My Account – Funds Withheld, No Resolution
I am extremely disappointed with the way my account has been handled by Elavon. My account was suddenly closed without warning, and my funds have been held for a minimum of 60 days with no opportunity for me to explain or resolve the matter. I was also asked to provide irrelevant and unnecessary documents, which only added to the frustration.
This treatment is unacceptable. I request immediate clarification and the prompt release of my funds. Since December 4th, there has been no resolution—despite Elavon’s promise to resolve my case within 15 days. Instead, the case was closed with no proper justification, and my funds remain frozen. This has caused nothing but stress and inconvenience, especially during the holiday season.
To make matters worse, Elavon ran two hard credit checks on my file without any valid reason, directly harming my credit score. This lack of transparency and professionalism is extremely concerning.
I strongly caution other businesses from signing up with Elavon until they improve their communication, accountability, and support processes. My experience has been nothing short of stressful, unfair, and disappointing.

Kathy made my experience MUCH better! The DX8000 I use has shut down so many times and I've lost sales because of it! But she gave me a temporary fix and ordered me yet another machine. Although the equipment seems to be very sub par, the people are great!
Poor account management services
We have been a customer for over a year, in this time multiple attempts to connect with an account manager have failed. They are always out of office whether you call or email. At this point it is hampering our ability to expand due to lack of clear merchant service support. We have written and called multiple times. We are giving them a one last opportunity as a courtesy if we don’t get better service by this month we will be discontinuing services with them.
Based on our experience, if you are a small business and busy, this is probably not the right merchant service for your business.

I am extremely disappointed with Elavon and the way they have handled my account. I have done nothing wrong, yet they continue to penalize me by freezing legitimate business funds and disrupting my company’s cash flow. This has happened multiple times, and each time their justification makes no sense.
Elavon is treating me like a risk when I’ve been completely transparent and have a clean track record. I run a legitimate construction company, and the transactions they keep flagging are normal contracted payments for services my customers signed for. Instead of supporting small businesses, they’re making it impossible to operate smoothly.
What’s worse is that Elavon keeps demanding personal financial statements, bank records, and intrusive documentation that has nothing to do with the transactions in question. It feels like they are trying to exploit me and gain unnecessary access to sensitive personal information just to release money that already belongs to my business.
Based on the issues I showed Hearth, the pattern is clear:
• My payments get flagged for no valid reason.
• My funds get frozen without warning.
• I’m pressured to turn over excessive personal financial documents.
• Their support team gives inconsistent answers, vague explanations, and no accountability.
• Meanwhile, I delivered the work, my customers paid, and the money is legitimately mine.
Elavon’s practices are disruptive, unfair, and borderline predatory toward small businesses. No business owner should have their funds held hostage while being forced to hand over personal financial statements that have nothing to do with the transactions themselves.
I would strongly caution any business—especially small or growing companies—before trusting Elavon as a processor. Their risk department is aggressive, unprofessional, and completely disconnected from real-world small-business operations. There are plenty of payment processors that do not treat honest business owners this way.
