Erg Plumbing 

The company seems to be taking advantage of customers not familiar with the repair process. When they first answer your phone, they rush to take your credit card details in order to charge you later. Technically they may not have told you anything untrue, but they have failed to alert the customer what they charge initially is an hourly rate and does not guarantee any work being complete. Apparently for my case, a water leakage in the bathroom, could not be repaired within an hour, because the plumber does not come with the necessary replacement parts. I was forced to pay £179 (excl VAT) for the first hour for only the diagnosis, or to pay for another £179 for the additional time he need drive to get the replacement parts. Worrying how the final cost will spiral, I chose to pay only £179 for the first hour and then continue the repair process by myself, only later to discover his diagnosis was wrong. Therefore I paid £179 plus VAT=£214 for a wrong diagnosis and nothing else.

Avoid, avoid, avoid - scam artists
Google Rogue Traders and ERG or just look at the rest of the reviews. I wish I had. This is just a scam to charge people and not fix anything. They know it too and take glee in it.

Angry I have to give them one star - thieving cowboys - I wanted a boiler service and a radiator balance - they said it would take two engineers, 1 came and did all the work in an hour and left (That bit was ok nice guy) - they charged almost £500 - claiming its two separate jobs - I spoke with customer service they were just dismissive - never use these people they are just thieves.

Called plumber out to replace close-coupled cistern innards. He spent about 20 mins looking at the job then disappeared to get a quote for me. Four and a half days later and after chasing their "tracking agents" several times they quoted me £397+VAT. To say I was gobsmacked would be an underestimate. Declined job but they continued to charge me £162 for their part-hourly rate. Complained to Customer Services Dept. who called me back a week later and refused to lower the charge. Without doubt the worst service company I have ever dealt with. Customer Service is zero, business laden with overheads/sub-contractors. DON'T GO NEAR THEM !!

engineer arrived at 14.30 and left at 14.57 fault with shower pump sorted itself ,I was told on phone no call out fee, £135 hourly rate, no mention of VAT, I was charged £162 in total for less 30 mins visit . I queeried bill and was told the full hour had to be paid for including vat, I wondered why the engineer could not tell me what the bill would be. it assume it was embarassment because he knew he wasworking for rip off merchants .

My wife found them on internet. We were desperate having been out of hot water for 5days. Plumber arrived promptly without any tools just headlamp, identified the problem without testing and said it was the cold water block valve. Insisted based on his experience. ERG phoned - Keith and said it would be £750+ part + VAT. When I phoned the following day and questioned cost and asked for breakdown he checked and phoned back confirming 4hrs at £135/hr +parts. Following day Keith phoned and asked if we wanted to go ahead, we agreed and Ian the plumber arrived the following day as arranged. He did the work efficiently in 2 hrs and demonstrated operation. I phoned the following day and asked for a credit of £270 + VAT. I could only get back staff who said it was a fixed price. I confirmed my understanding that it was a FIRM price based on 4 hrs. + parts. She -Keiran said she would speak to 'the Engineer'. She reverted promptly advising his comment that the quote was for 2hrs. I said that at £270 /hr + VAT the price was not only ridiculous but conflicted with what Keith advised; apparently he was not prepared to budge.
Do not use ERG! I was fortunate in getting a good plumber; otherwise, their business ethics are shocking.

This is not a good way of obtaining an emergency plumber. There is a phone number for arranging a plumber which is answered promptly but if you need to follow up on any "repair" there is a different number which is frequently unanswered. The competence of the plumber who attended to fix my boiler problem is doubtful. He quickly identified the problem but when he eventually turned up to install the parts he didn't connect the hose properly so the original leak reappeared. Contacting ERG proved fruitless and the plumber never answered any messages I left for him.

Absolute rubbish. They are not a 24 hour call out at all. They use contractors and have no control over them and could not get hold of the one allocated to us. Waited in all day and no one arrived. They keep promising a visit but no one came and they could not care less that we were in an emergency situation. Avoid like the plague.

Misleading details on yell.com giving a local number which turns out to be the other side of the U.K.

It is an agency that sub-contracts and found this out when plumber turned up to replace some bathroom taps. The plumber was shocked to hear my friend on a low income was charged £125 taking his bank card details which didn't included parts or labour . The plumber called the company who said he had done 4 jobs for them and would stop, he tried to find out about precise billing. My friend cancelled the transaction and told the "support team" he would take them to trading standards if they debited his bank. Don't touch this company.

I am mortified yell.com has not taken action from my last post warning of the misleading details Yell.com is still publishing. Not only is it not a local company it does NOT have 4 out of 5 stars on Trust Pilot, it has 1 star out of 5 ! ! ! CHECK IT NOW
Today, my friend received letter dated 13th December charging £150 = £125 Labour + VAT.
Based on Trustpilot and being local BOTH Misleading. ***Please Trustpilot Take Action and Remove this misleading rating so others will not be mislead by seeing Trustpilot showing a 4 Star Rating which is grossly inaccurate. For us it came under looking for Ammanford Plumbers.

Total and utter cowboys. I usually dont get taken for a fool but this company took me to the cleaners.
My mothers boiler, central heating and hot water stopped working; she’s 84 years old and wanted me to help. Unfortunately I’m over 60 miles away as I live in another county, so in my mind this was an emergency. They rocked up, 2 young guys in an unmarked white van, no name badges, nothing. Was in my mothers house for just 10 minutes and said it was a faulty valve. Next minute I receive an email outlining it needed a new PCB unit at a cost of £500 plus vat. I called their customer service department stating that was an absolute disgrace and promptly cancelled the job. The customer service guy said nothing more would be done and the job would be cancelled off. The next thing I know is that my bank sent me a potential fraud message saying that £150 had been taken from my credit card by this company, having told me that nothing more would be done.
They are a pariah of a company, would not recommend them in any way shape or form. My biggest mistake was that I should have read the reviews first. Please please read reviews before you engage with this company as they will totally rip you off.
The only crumb of comfort I take from this is that they won’t be around for long because they are totally screwing up their own business. Mind you, they are not bothered as they are just in it for the massive scam they are pulling off on a daily basis.

Dreadful company. Unfortunately I didn't read the reviews first. Arranged for Erg to send an engineer to take out a gas fire and replace with new one that I had bought. Then rang them twice to change the time and date and was told,twice I hadn't booked an appointment!.
Engineer did arrive and was in the house for 10minutes. Unscrewed the old fire and put new one in the fireplace. Then told me he hadn't bought the right tools to fit the fire and would return on Monday. Never turned up and I had cancelled another appointment to fit him in. When I contacted Erg I was told that the engineer had said I needed to change the new fire, as it wouldn't fit !!! This was a lie. Then found that I have been charged a great deal of money even though job not done at all.
These people have no scruples and are complete cowboys. I am going to take the matter further and I'm determined to get a refund

My experience was pretty similar to everyone else's, by the look of things. Heating stopped working in my house, so I called them up in the morning and described the problem. They took my card details and promised to send someone over. It's now 6 PM on a Saturday, and they just told me that nobody's coming and I'm left with broken heating. It's gonna be 3 degrees tonight... Horrible company, don't give them your business!

They did'nt arrive when they said they would leaving it too late to call another company on a Friday afternoon .
They then charged £150 without repairing anything to diagnose the problem that I had already identified .

They charged me £150 for a call out to fix my bubbling issue inside the boiler, the engineer found the issue, which was a full condensate trap, so the issue was fixed within 15 minutes, which was good, I was happy. Two days later the same issue has occurred, the boiler is bubbling and the heating has cut out. It has took me 4 days of daily contacting for the company to get through to the engineer. The engineer is now saying that the boiler must need cleaning, surely he should have known this at the time, it's his profession? The issue has not been resolved, the engineer has not even looked for the root of the problem, he has found a condensate trap full of water, emptied the water, and left. Now the company is telling me that he engineer resolved the issue, which he has not, and is now asking me to book in for a service, costing even more? Don't trust these cowboys.

Do NOT book these jokers. They took my booking and then phoned me back three hours later and said "actually we do not service your area"

An up-date on this company's charges, it is now £222 per hour! Plus parts! I declined their offer of coming out to look at my boiler.

Terrible service. Called at 8am with emergency. Plumber promised ASAP and no later than 2pm. Just at deadline they called to say they would cancel.

Disgusting service, for 3 days they promised to come out and fix a leak on a boiler. They don’t even bother to call to advise the engineer isn’t coming out. Steer clear.

We have a dripping tap so called this firm under the impression they were a local business. They cancelled the initial call and rebooked for yesterday. Came in, took the tap apart, went and bought a part, it was the wrong part so could not be fitted, went off saying they'd quote us for a whole new mixer tap. We then got a phone call informing us they have charged us £192 for a part they took away with them & not fixing anything. We asked for our money back and the response from her was 'I can't do anything about that'. We would like our money back. To add insult to injury, a further phone call this afternoon asking if we'd like to go ahead with the quote to replace the tap. You can imagine the answer.

We have paid almost £200 for nothing and we would like our money returned. If it is not, you will be hearing further from us.

I spent hours locating a leak that was coming through the ceiling, had to rip down pvc ceiling panels and cut holes in the plasterboard and finally found that it was a pipe that led to the shower that was leaking above. It had already done a lot of damage so I found ERG that claimed to be local (I’m in Edinburgh), and got through to a call centre. The lady I spoke to said that it would be a quick fix and she’d send out a plumber that would arrive by 8pm same day and it was £145 plus VAT and should be an easy fix that wouldn’t take long. I thought it was a bit steep and asked what happened if it was longer than the hour and they said that I wouldn’t be contractually obliged to pay them for over an hour and they’d give me a quote for the extra work. I asked what happens if it only took 5 minutes, could I get them to fix a leaking tap that I also had, she said that wouldn’t be a problem. She took my card details and said that payment wouldn’t be taken until after work was done.
The guy showed up, looked at the leak, said it would be a big job and then wanted to leave but said I’d have to pay up the near £200 anyway, and he’d send a quote for fixing it to ERG. I said hang on, you’re not going to even begin fixing it? He said no, he didn’t have any tools or parts and it would have to wait until next week. I asked if he could go and fix the dripping tap in the bathroom upstairs if I’m paying for the hour anyway. Same story there, had a look and said it would take too long and he didn’t have the parts, he said that it also wasn’t what he was called out for so wasn’t supposed to do it. This company is a scam! He claimed I was paying him for identifying the leak, good job Sherlock! I pointed it out to you! Waste of money. They are also not local, they’re a glorified call centre miles away with false advertising. You’re basically paying a very expensive call out fee for an actual local subcontracted plumber (who doesn’t even get all that money) to come and look at the job. They don’t come with any tools or parts, not even washers (he literally turned up in a 3 door car), so had no intent on fixing anything, whereas they advertise that they’d fully fix it in the hour.
