Engineer arrived much later than the scheduled time. Did no work. Left within 5 minutes after quoting an exorbitant charge. Another plumber did the whole job for a fraction of that quote. ERG still ch... See more

Job done.
I called them after another firm left me with no hot water or heating. I arrange a price which came to £150 after VAT they were here within the hour. The man came, mask on. He was friendly, he obviously knew what he was doing. He told me that the boiler only held X amount of water at one time so for it to heat property not to turn the taps on full. I did not need any parts if I did I don't know if it would cost more!. I was left with heating and a nice hot bath. Not cheap but job done.
What a bunch of lying cheats.
What a bunch of lying cheats. They took £150.00 from me for repairs to a boiler. My tenant watched the so called engineer and was able to tell me what was done. The invoice stated that the boiler sump had been removed, cleaned and re-fitted. All that was actually done was removal of an inspection plate and put it back on. I wanted to get the boiler repaired asap for my tenant and did not Google the company, if I had done, I would have seen the watchdog video, I will not make the same mistake again. Why on earth has this Company been able to continue trading when their complete setup is a con. They are based in Essex but make out they are local by using hundreds of websites to take advantage of the general public and they do not have any of their own tradesmen, in most cases they simply send complete strangers to your property. This company should be closed down.
BEWARE OF ERG CHEATING COMPANY
BEWARE OF ERG CHEATING COMPANY
This is no professional company run by call centers cheating people during the first visit and not even diagnosing the problem. Dont regret your decision after calling them. Stay away from them. They will come and they sound in 2 mins that they have sorted the problem. But in reality the issue will still be there and you might have to call them again and again. Thats the way they do things. Pls be beware of them.
ERG PLUMBING- APPALLING
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!! I contacted them following a boiler leak and had no water whatsoever due to having to turn it off at the mains to stop the leak and also no heating. My insurance company could only send an engineer after 2 days which was not good enough when I have no water supply whatsoever and a child. I contacted ERG who insisted they could do a same day appointment up front, and worryingly now after reading previous reviews I gave my card details to secure payment. I then waited in all day after having to take a day off work, I am also a keyworker so my time is precious! I called ERG just before 9am and at 4pm after a full day of nothing but waiting I received a call to say the plumber was ill and could not attend??!! I was absolutely seething. This is totally unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. There was no genuine apology, just an offer to come the next day!! There is no way I would give them another chance after this! I asked that a manager would call me back, but surprise surprise I am still waiting!!! Clearly ERG are full of false promises and totally unprofessional with zero customer service skills. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. I only gave 1 star purely because I wasnt able to give zero. 1 star was highly over rated!
Don't trust them...
This organisation is one of the worst I have come across. They are charging £190 + VAT just for a call-out to fix a leak in a boiler. Which they didn't fix.
Then I have had to chase them down (3 calls a day) over the weekend to try to find out when they are going to come and replace the part that they were supposed to order (but didn't). Called them 3 times again on the Monday to ascertain what is going on and they still cannot tell me when they are coming to repair my boiler. I have been without hot water now for 3 days. I have lost my patience with this company. Got someone else in to sort the problem.
ERG are a call centre and they rely on others to actually do the work. Best call a Gas Safe certified technician in the first place to sort out the problem.
Appalling Set Up
Appalling Set Up. I thought i had selected a local firm for a emergency boiler repair on Saturday. They told me that due to Covid their engineers were not carrying card machines so the office would take the card details and process the transaction when the repair was completed. I was promised a visit before 6PM Saturday. Checked they were on schedule at 12.00 to be told yes arrival before 6PM. At 6PM I checked again to be told it would now be Sunday before 12. Same routine Sunday but finally an hour late the engineer arrived and within 15 mins identified two faults requiring parts which he did not have. He would order immediately and come back before 12PM on Monday. No show. Catalogue of chat log calls asking about when they would be attending, how much were the parts, when would they arrive? At 3PM Monday after a day of chasing the online chat a transaction was processed for £174 without my consent or prior notification.
So when confronted with my enquiry about why this has been done I was told that this is their minimum charge for attending to diagnose a fault. What a bunch of deceitful clowns. I paid £174 for someone to unscrew the boiler and tell me two parts need replacing. A local engineer has charged my £73 for an the work to do the repair. AVOID THESE RIP OFF MERCHANTS.
Avoid
Called what I thought was a local plumber/heating engineer from a website when my boiler broke, turned out to be ERG, without me knowing. ERG then used a local plumber to come to the property. He did that day and diagnosed the problem in 5 mins, however he had no parts so couldn't fix it, then left. However if I'd called out the plumber direct, would have cost me a lot less. Felt ripped off, and although have a diagnosis, now need to find someone else to come and fix it, who will no doubt have to re diagnose
Terrible experience.
Terrible experience.
2 days after moving into a new house I called ERG out with a broken baxi boiler. An engineer came out, as arranged. He was pleasant but could not find a fault and wanted to sell us a new boiler. He kept changing his mind about what might be wrong. In the end he left without fixing anything.
Two days later another engineer came out from a different company t who fixed the problem within a couple of minutes. Apparently a valve had been turned off.
I'm was very disappointed with the service from ERG and asked for a refund. They requested a full report from the alternative engineers, which I submitted. Even so they still refuse to refund the call out charge.
£150
Avoid.
Would trust Jimmy Saville more than this company
Tldr. Very expensive, constantly a no show, poor communication and rude telephone staff.
Initially called to have a toilet repaired. Promised it would be fixed the same day.... no plumber arrived till the next day. Who after assessment said he needed some parts and would be back within "a day or two" actually left the toilet in a worse state. A week goes by didnt hear anything. Called the company who said they would get back to us. Whilst waiting. My partner and I then got covid. So we called the company and asked for a 10 day delay to fit with current isolation laws. Was told that we would have to pay full price since we are cancelling! Explained we aren't cancelling and would call them back in 10 days. 10 days later called back was told that we had cancelled and thats why no one had come out. Re explained the situation. Told a plumber would be out the next day between 8 and 12. At 12.05 we called again since he had not arrived. To be told that it had been delayed to between 5 and 6. At 6.05 we called again since another no show. During this call we received a phone call from the actual plumber saying he had misplaced a washer and will be out the next day.
Finally got what was meant to be a same day repair actually repaired over a month later.
During all the calls to the company the staff were dismissive and rude. One actually said "not my problem your toilets broken what do you want me do about it".
Dreadful!
Dreadful!
I wish we'd read these reviews before we contacted this company.
On 1/2/21 we called them as we had no heating or hot water and no local plumbers were available.
The "engineer" arrived, spent an hour fiddling with the boiler then left, telling us to monitor the pressure.
Before he had got out of the door £150 had been taken from our bank account. No job reference number, no invoice, no break down of problem.....nothing.
As far as we are concerned they are nothing short of scam artists.
The boiler has now been fixed by a local plumber at a cost far lower than ERG took from us.
repellent company
This is a repellent, particularly nasty company. The bottom line is the second a plumber sets foot in your house they will take £150 out of your bank account. It doesnt matter if they do nothing at all, or just give advice. They thrive on this. They know they will make money no matter how useless the service is. Personally I think this is borderline criminal.
I would never use these people again
I would never use these people again. I agree they are scammers of the worst sort.
I had a problem with no hot water in my shower and boked an engineer to visit on 28/01/21. He arrived at about 16.30, checked my boiler and find nothing wrong then checked out the shower. and reported that the thermostat was faulty and needed replacing. So I thought at least the problem had been identified.
Next day I called them again to book a plumber to replace the thermostat. I had a detailed conversation with the boking agent who was aware of the report from the previous engineer. He suggested that the previous engineer be contacted and would know which part was needed and if the part was available he would send both the engineer and the part on the following day. We also discussed that if the engineer was not available another engineer wold be despatched. I mentioned that I had a photo of the current thermostat and he asked me to send it to them which I subsequently did. I got an email confirming the appointment a between 10.00 and 18,00 0n Saturday 30/01/21.
On Saturday I waited until 17.59 and then contacted their service chat line, They said that the engineer had been delayed but would arrive about 20.00. This was inconvenient but I accepted it. They turned up at 20.15 (two of them) but with no thermostat. They checked the shower and announced that a new thermostat was required, This was not news to me. They then left.
I have so far paid £372 on my credit card (which they insist on paying up front) and no resolution
I wrangled with the chat line for two days without getting any change out of them. I certainly do not intend to risk any further money with them. I wish that I had read these reviews before contacting them. Beware they sound very plausible but they are rip off merchants
Beware - scammers
Beware, these people are scammers. Although I had clearly explained beforehand which part had failed and needed replacing I was charged £230 for a engineer to visit, only for him to say he did not have the correct part and leave again after 5 minutes, without doing anything. When the part was in they rang me to make another appointment and I foolishly went along with it, thinking I should get them to do the work as I had already paid so much money, and also being pressured by their person on the phone. They charged me another £345 which I paid by credit card on the telephone. I regretted this as soon as I had rung off, and immediately cancelled the appointment (made for the following Monday) but they are refusing to refund my £345 for the cancelled visit. (The fraud department at my credit card company are fighting it for me.) So, to date I have paid £575 for one 5-minute visit and no repair. DO NOT HAVE DEALINGS WITH THIS COMPANY.
They are scammers
I called this company to repair my boiler and they took my card number over phone after promising me that they would charge me after job is done.
The engineer did come but walked away rudely within 5 minutes that he can't do anything. I called straight away Erg and told them that your engineer has walked away in 5 minutes without doing anything. I asked them not to charge me 150 quid as job is not done and engineer did not stay even for 5 minutes. They said they would call me back but they never did. I still called them multiple times but got no response.
I knew now they would rob me 150 quid so I called the bank to cancel my card. The bank did cancel my card. After 48 hours, they called me and asked me to pay them 150 quid for engineer's visit which I refused. Now they are sending me text messages to pay them the money for the job they never did.
Never ever use this company
Called for Enjineer for our hot water…
Called for Enjineer for our hot water problem being quoted £125 plus vat. The Enjineer turned up without any mask after 5 min he said hot was switched off and it will work now as he turned it on.I told him is that your diagnosis that we the owners cannot turn on the water switch on!!!! I TOLD HIM TO LEAVE AS HE WAS WAISTING OUR TIME. PLEASE BE AWARE AS THEY ARE SCAMMERS...
TOTAL SCAM _ DO NOT USE
Following my recent report, I have tried to reason with ERG by email and now have a good trail of their inconsistent reasons as to why they should charge me £150 for 20 minutes work and nothing done.
Suggest that you do as I have and report them to your card company and to the National Trading Standards e-crime team to try to stop them scamming other poor unsuspecting souls and using a five star Trustpilot rating on their website - one of the reasons that I used them
Wish I’d seen these before phoning ERG…
Wish I’d seen these before phoning ERG Plumbers.
Phoned to have someone come & fix our central heating & was told bank details would be needed before anyone would be sent out as it’s contactless payments only due to Covid & no money would be taken until work is completed. Was told someone would be out before 6pm & it’s a one day service. The engineer came out told me we needed a new pump but could not tell us when he would be back to carry out the work. I phoned the company repeatedly to be told “as soon as they know, I’ll know!” They sent me an email to say I had been billed for £150 when no work had been carried out. When specifically asked, this company said it does not take money until work has been carried out which implies there is no call out fee when there obviously is!! & it obviously isn’t a one day service which you’d expect to pay extra for. Absolutely ignored on trying to speak to some one on how long will it take to get it fixed after paying for my quote , they just put the phone down as soon as they know what the issue is. A total scam taking advantage of contactless payment during a pandemic.
I have been twice to live chat, phoned your company countless times & am presently waiting yet again on a promise some one will get back to me to find out when the work will be done.
UPDATE 3 days later: finally got to speak to someone on an estimate Which was over £600 for a new pump but after 2 days in the cold had gone with a different company & the problem wasn’t even a pump but a thermostat issue & costs considerably less than the £600+ ERG quoted for a new pump. Yet again no response on trying to speak to any one on why they’ve taken £150 for a misdiagnosis! Terrible customer service. Do not use this company!
DONT USE THIS COMPANY
DONT USE THIS COMPANY - YOU WILL BE SORRY.
This is where I tell you about ERG customer Relations. They refused to sort out a leak to the boiler they had just repaired. I sent pictures and reports on the poor quality workmanship.
But they refused to accept anything not on PDF (surely a video is clearer) but hey, who am I to argue.
So after xmas I got a PDF of the report from the repairing company. Guess what they are objecting to the delay now.
They don't give their names either, the customer relations operatives or the names of their managers, so you quickly understand that this is clearly a strategy to dodge culpability for dodgy work.
Nobody turned up
Booked in, was told they would attend the same day as we had no heating in -2 cold.
Nothing. Nobody turned up. No phonecall, nothing
ERG took £150 for doing nothing
Please Google "known scams" "erg facilities"
ERG asked for card details in advance (red flag - but it was an emergency). Promised not to take payment until the job was done. They took £150 after completing the initial call out, the only result of which was a one-sentence report describing the problem. Then deflected all subsequent attempts at getting follow-up action, and never came back. 3 days later the heating emergency is unresolved and I'm £150 worse off, waiting for a real firm to be available.
