I wish I had read the reviews before…

I wish I had read the reviews before booking this company they are a con. I was charged 150 for engineer to take cover off and shine a torch on my boiler when was told that would be price with parts to fix . If you have also been ripped off contact trading standards. companies like this should not be allowed to do this to people

Rogue Company

Promised next day for a boiler service quoted £145 no mention that 20% vat would be added.
No confirmation of call day/time or total cost.
Three days later engineer eventually arrives checks the gas pressures and emails me a gas certificate. No servicing of the boiler undertaken.
Following day the boiler is leaking water I contacted the engineer who did not want to know (nothing to do with me mate). I contacted ERG who said nothing to do with the engineer but if I paid them more money they could arrange to send an engineer out. I contacted another plumbing company who saw straight away that the water pressure in the boiler was far to low and water was dripping through the safety valve. Basic stuff if you are getting a proper service. In conclusion this was overpriced shoddy workmanship and from the reviews it appears that lots of people have had this treatment. No doubt they will respond with some trite prepared statemant.

Avoid at all costs

We called them up to get them to install my mums cooker. My mum waited in and then they said could not do the job until tomorrow. We cancelled,
Looking at the reviews it was probably a blessing
How do these companies keep getting away with ripping people off?

RIP OFF

After telephoning concerning a leak under the kitchen sink, I realised that to cure the problem I needed a new tap. The contracted plumber rang, said he was nearby and could call to confirm the problem and advise. This took two minutes and he left. When I informed them that I had a new tap ready for fitting THEY REFUSED TO ATTEND without further payment, at £150 per hour.
DO NOT USE THIS OUTFIT. Total rogues.

Dreadful company

My experience with this appalling company is probably no worse than all the others who have posted one star reviews. There should certainly be a zero star rating available for these people who charged me at least twice what I should have paid. When I asked for a warranty on the part they told me to read the T&Cs .

I recommend you ‘Do Not Use’..

I recommend you ‘Do Not Use’... as they provide a terrible service and when feeding back their failing to provide professional engineers who don’t resolve the problems, they ignore you but still charge you.
My experience which I am taking further is as follows...
I reported a problem with the Worcester gas boiler at one of our properties.
I was told by Gavin that the charge would be £125 per hour on the job plus VAT.

I agreed to that costing as I needed my tenants to have heating and gave my card number as they told me nothing could be done if I didn’t follow this process.

An engineer turned up as arranged and asked if the tenant had got a posi drive screwdriver to save him getting his tools out.

The tenant gave him a screwdriver and he undid the two bottom screws from the boiler front cover and removed it.

Other than shine his torch on 2 areas of the boiler and state the Worcester boilers are in the top 2 as best boilers he did no checks!
This took 5 minutes with the rest of the time just being him talking

He was at The property for less than 20 minutes and said to the tenants that the central heating system needed to be flushed out with a power flush!

After his visit he left a message on my mobile stating system sludged up... probably due to radiators being 20 years old
Normal price £900 but he could do it for £450

New Radiators were bought and fitted 31/10/2019 and a power flush was done at this time.

The annual gas check of the boiler and all gas appliances were undertaken at this time.

Reason for not using the same engineer this year is because he moved to east anglia at the end of last year

My questions are:

On the visit why did he not do any investigation on the boiler?... as it’s the boiler that was reported as not working properly

Why would an experienced engineer suggest ‘your problem is sludge in the system and it will take a full days work to power flush the system with 20 year old radiators,’... without checking anything on the radiators.

If he had of done, it would have been clear that the radiators are new.

What I need to know!

Answers to my questions above, a resolution for the heating problem that I reported and a reason why £150 was charged when the engineer did nothing towards a solution. The invoice stated that the heating was fine with no problems which is untrue... as he did nothing to resolve the problem and when challenged the ERG rep said “we only provide the facility”
This is an absolute disgrace and unacceptable. I really don’t know how this company is still in business!

Atrocious and Dangerous

Atrocious and dangerous. ERG confirmed a call out for a failed boiler in a house with 5 children including a toddler. Engineer to arrive by 5pm latest on Thursday Never arrived and no call to explain. Next day ERG promised an engineer by 8pm if I paid more. They called at 330pm to say no one could come before Monday. I explained that the house had no heating, in winter. They suggested I call another company. Terrible, terrible, terrible.

ERG don't always win.

Please can we have a zero rating star for firms like this? I booked them for an older relative, central heating stopped, and known local plumbers all booked up, using my phone and paid £125. Got home 30 min later, and read the reviews on my tablet and yelped!! But, thanks to Nationwide, ERG didn't get any of my money, they checked my account and cancelled the debit card used. I rang ERG to cancel the booked call and to tell them that no money would be paid. Thank you Trustpilot and all the reviewers above and I hope that ERG are stopped before they rip off anyone else .

Our oil boiler wouldn't start and after…

Our oil boiler wouldn't start and after phoning several local companies who couldn't come until the week before Christmas, I came across ERG and their website said 2800 x 5 Star reviews- wished I'd checked Trustpilot! Man didn't come same day as promised, but was there for 7 minutes the next morning for which they charged £210 ! He said the motor was kaput, would be very expensive to buy if one could even be found and many man hours to fit - so we needed a new boiler. 2 days later a friend came (not a boiler repair man) with motor experience and said he was sure on listening that it was the Capacitor that was not working. The replacement was £4.36 and the boiler is running as sweet as a nut. Surely we must be able to do something to stop this company ripping everybody off. If the motor had really been the fault, that was one thing, but can you imagine how we would have felt if we paid out £3000+ for a new boiler to find it was only a £5 part that was needed.

Shocking con artists

Shocking con artists. Charge 150 pound call out fee to send a boiler engineer who didnt have the part to fix it. Then they quoted £350 to carry out the repair. Had I said yes it would have cost £500 to supply and fit a part that costs £25. In the end I had it done by a local engineer who charged me £50. DO NOT USE ERG

I feel sick reading all these 1*…

I feel sick reading all these 1* reviews too late... we phoned what we thought was a local company and didn't realise until they turned up that they were a national middle man for our local drainage company. They charged us £400 for a £75 job. We complained 12 times via phonecall but they just kept saying they'd get someone to callback but never did. I am pretty online savvy so to have fell for this makes me so angry, but how they are dishonest about who they are and they lie about their competitive prices makes me angrier. I hope no-one else falls for this scam.

Did not turn up and were rude on phone

Booked someone to come to address a drainage issue. They never turned up and on calling back very rudely said it couldn’t have been them they called. When insisting it was they offered no apology. Also the price they quoted was ridiculously expensive.

AVOID!!

AVOID!!! Wish I'd read these reviews and hadn't trusted the few good reviews on their website which have got to be fake!! Subcontracted locally and engineer took 20 minutes to clean ignition and electrodes to get boiler working. The following morning no heating again....ERG very slow responding even though I contacted them through live chat. Gave me a quote of £468 for new part and labour and refused to refund or take off the £150 I'd already paid saying "but our engineer did get it working".....yes for 7 hours!! Absolutely disgusted with this company!!

Engineer attended to a faulty water…

Engineer attended to a faulty water heater said the pressure switch and electrodes were in need of replacement at a cost of £499. He advised a combi boiler , which we don’t need as we have warm air central heating , he suggested replacing our central heating system to fit in with the combi boiler at a cost of £1300 ! Erg then took 150 from our bank for the 10 minutes of the engineers time

Avoid this company at ALL costs.

Called this company for a commercial gas safety certificate. They sent a local gas engineer who explained that he needed to change a valve and get an electrician to connect the shut off valve to the fan. He returned today, did the necessary work THEN and only THEN did he say he could not issue the certificate because the appliances were faulty. ERG have now been paid £462 for a certificate we cannot get and are refusing to refund us. On top of this the engineer is charging us for the work he has done! What a rip off! Avoid this company like the plague. He turned off our gas and told us he is reporting our kitchen as unsafe.

Useless

Useless. I booked 2 weeks in advance for a boiler repair, on a Saturday, as I work away from home. Got a call mid-week to say the engineer was "20 minutes away", until I pointed out that that did me no good, as I wasn't home until Saturday, as per the booking. So on the day of the booking/the day they were due, I waited in, as per the confirmation email. Called the call centre and was told "they have no access to the engineers", which is odd as they knew one was 20 mins away, in mid-week, so I had to use the live chat. 30 mins into the live chat (a delay that was apologised for) I was told the engineer had had an emergency and wasn't available. As if they only have one North East engineer. And I wonder how long I'd have been left waiting in before they told me that, if I had not chased. Cancelled booking and will never use again.
