Lawn mower service but...

Lawn Mower serviced recently. My service was carried out at a quoted price, engine and blade serviced. On inspection underneath heavy grass residue deposits not cleaned which must affect the lawnmower performance. I would have at least expected an underneath clean to keep mower working efficiently so at home put mower on bench and cleaned off deposits myself but surprised it was not part of the service.

Sad, really sad.

I’m writing you to inform about my experience with a Husqvarna leaf blower and after sales customer service.
First fault with a leaf blower happened in the end of August, beginning of September 2023 and I took it for repairs at Ernest Doe Power in Esher, Surrey. After a month or even a bit longer, I received machine back from them. In the end of November I experienced faults again and took my leaf blower back for repairs at Ernest Doe Power in Esher, Surrey. They sent machine to another branch somewhere in Sussex.
December, January, February, March- these are four months while I have been ignored, phone calls are dismissed, messages are ignored, and I can’t use my garden machinery. There are literally no adequate updates except those times when they reply, they always are still waiting for parts.
It absolutely ridiculous. It’s so sad, that I didn’t read reviews earlier.

greed?

originally helpful when my mower went wrong and came out and fixed it temporarily and then returned with parts under warranty and replaced those and got it going well... but then took it in for first service and boy o boy what a shock. their estimate for first service at 50 hours use was twice that off two competitors .. over £600 compared to under £300. so I took the mower away and took it fifty miles to the cheaper dealer. then a bit of a sting in the tail as they charged me an inspection fee. it's their loss, they have lost a potential good customer. shame and if the directors get too greedy that will be another old business that goes bust.

Won’t use them again

Won’t use them again. Ordered a chainsaw online at which point there were two in stock. Order was acknowledged but after two days no update on shipping so email sent requesting order status ( Saturday) , no answer by pm Monday so had to phone, lady told me that one had sold online the same time as mine but the remaining one was found to not pass inspection!!! I told her I didn’t believe her, well the Company. (Stihl apparently do this check prior to despatch from factory). Seems my review is similar to others on here. Received an email the same time I called showing refund, no explanation… NOTHING. Poor service all round. Wasted 4 days when one could have been bought and received long before Ernest Doe have the time to advise my order was cancelled!

Ernest doe rip off

I recently sent my cylinder lawn mower to the Rochford branch for a service, they took a month to get it done then charged me £450 for the privilege, how does it take 7 hours to service a lawn mower …. Never again will i be using ernest doe… absolute rip off merchants .

We understand that you may have found the £450 cost to be high, but it's essential to consider the condition of your mower when it was collected. Upon inspection, we found that your mower was in a poor state. It refused to start, and when it did, it could only run on choke. Our investigations revealed a corroded carburettor, which was clogged with debris, stale fuel, and water contamination.

In addition to ultrasound cleaning of the carburettor and fuel jets, we carried out the following agreed-upon work to ensure the optimal functioning of your mower:

Side panels and cutter were removed and cleaned.
Belts and pulleys were checked.
Cables were inspected and adjusted.
The cylinder was disassembled, cleaned, and sharpened.
The cylinder was repainted after cleaning, and the bottom blade was replaced.
Bearings were checked, and the cylinder was reassembled.
We replaced the broken throttle cable retainer.
Your mower was refuelled, thoroughly tested, and delivered back to you.
Furthermore, we applied a discount to the service labour, which we hope demonstrates our commitment to providing fair and competitive pricing.

We want you to know that the service we performed was not a straightforward or simple one due to the extensive work required to bring your mower back to working order. Brilliant customer service !

Brilliant customer service from the Ernest Doe team at Wymondham . I had a few issues with a Honda mower I had purchased with the excellent help from Kevin in sales . The service team were brilliant , sent an engineer out same day , problem diagnosed and mower collected. Brilliant and very helpful service from Becky and Chris the engineer and thanks to the very helpful collection driver too , a great team !

Excellent Service

Purchased a used Glof Buggy from the Ulting Road, Maldon Branch and the service was excellent. I recently added a black roof which they ordered from the US and again everything went smoothly. Both transactions handled by Nick and he was very helpful. Happy to recommend this very customer facing branch of the company.

Fantastic shopping experience

Like the previous reviewer, I'd give them 6 stars if I could. Saw a bodywarmer in the Woodbridge branch which was twice the quality and half the price of high street shops. They didn't have my size so ordered one in. I then was unable to pick up, so phoned them to cancel and again they were very helpful about it. I found I had a branch nearby, Esher, who reserved one for me. Picked it up and again were friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately I later discovered a pocked had not been sewn properly. Phoned them and they ordered one in for the following day - swapped over without problem. Fantastic shopping experience.

I ordered an item from Ernest Doe online which went missing when it was delivered by DHL. The staff at Ernest Doe were really friendly and helpful, following up with DHL to find out what had happened, sending me a replacement item, and keeping me updated. Thank you!

Avoid

Avoid. Ordered a pair of Hunter boots. After a few months the boots split. Ernest Doe said send back for a replacement. All seemed fine at this stage. Month after month went by, they would not replace until they had heard from Hunter, even though it was confirmed by Hunter the boots were faulty. Ernest Doe not willing to help. After around 6 months replacement arrived but wrong type. Ahh. So agreed a refund, many weeks later a refund was finally made but to the wrong paypal account. I can't get my money and the company says it's a system thing and refuse to help. They said they don't want to be out of pocket - but are happy for a customer to be ! Now battling to get my money back. My observation is, if you are buying anything expensive, need any customer service or help avoid. The staff are nice enough but constantly say we can't do .... because....... I have since ordered boots from another supplier but am still out of pocket.

In order for us to arrange a refund or exchange on any products over 28 days old, we have to consult with the manufacturer which is an enforced policy that we have to follow and is beyond our control as an authorised Hunter stockist. With regard to refunds, we can only refund back to the payment address and method with which you made the purchase, which is a manual process as the transaction was over 180 days old. However, we have been advised by our customer services team and Paypal that the money was refunded.

We strive to deliver a good service and apologise that we did not meet your expectation on this occasion. We care about our customer reviews and this feedback has been shared with our team as part of our continuous staff development programme.

Not great customer service

Didn’t get a call so rang again then told the 1 engineer they have was busy with courses and holiday leave now so approx 6 weeks wait! Couldn’t even manage an apology without asking. Seem to think that because there are limited companies out there who deal with this they can treat your poorly, I’m afraid no company is indispensable so last time I use them I’m afraid.

I would give them 6 stars if I could!

So I had the pleasure of dealing with Serena who works at the company and she was absolutely first class in the way she dealt with my eventual order - replied back to my emails and helped me narrow my search down - the item arrived a day later - fantastic customer service and I would also say the company are very competitive in their prices too.
I will defiantly shop here again - I would give them 6 stars if I could!
