I must have been one of the very first…

I must have been one of the very first users of fastmail because I switched from AOL - maybe 20 years ago.

Back then, they said they were the fastest and most secure email on the planet. I'm pretty sure they still are. I have multiple domains plugged into fastmail, and I love the fact that I can make an email alias in seconds. Their spam filters are awesome, and I've never been the victim of a virus, Nigerian prince, or credit card fraud through emails.

They also have many emails domains you can choose from which makes it easy to get the email address you want without having 12 letters after your name.

Their pricing is reasonable - especially for the other features you get. So if you are using Gmail, AOL (god forbid), or Godaddy email, I would give it a try.

Pretty good but...

Two stars removed for two reasons:
1. Handling of spam is poor. How about a right-click option "Always block from this sender or domain"? Why should I go to Rules to make what should be a one-click option?
2. Images do not appear in emails until you click on "Load Images" or enter the email address in your Contacts. In Gmail, you have an option to click on "Always show images" so you don't have to make a useless entry in your Contacts. I wrote them years ago and but got no reply.

Very happy with Fastmail

I've used Fastmail for about two years, using my own domain there. It has worked perfectly for me. For that reason, I happily can't comment on their responsiveness to service requests. I've also had zero problems with spam. I use the iOS app and my desktop, via Thunderbird. In my opinion, the cost is reasonable for the level of service, and the comfort of not wondering what invisible way the provider is building a dossier on me.

Been using fastmail for over 10 years.

Been using fastmail for over 10 years.
The improvements lately ahve been great. Masked emails, labels. I really appreciate the 4 options for swipe gestures on android, that's better than gmail so I prefer to go through and delete or categorize my inbox on the phone every morning.
Been using the calendar for planning kid's playdates, family appointments, etc etc for years now. I didn't want google knowing my whole darn life and it works really well to coordinate with my partner.
The notes section also works really well, I use it to copy really insightful posts when I'm reading stuff online.
I thought I was goign to run out of space but then realized the storage count for files is separate from email, so it's pretty easy to transfer files over instead of leaving them as attachments on email. I don't use the file storage for anything else though, it's not efficient or super useful as backup cloud storage or sharing other than email attachments. It's a way better price than drop box though so I would probably pay for more storage at that good price if the UI was improved. But maybe that is a stretch in the wrong direction because I love fastmail for everything else they do really well.

User for 10-20 years. Good but maybe overkill for personal use

I prefer to use smaller companies to mega corporations If I can. Fastmail is one such. Been a user for 10-20 years. Product has improved immesurably over that time.
- A lot of features - pretty well anything you might need. Many of these I don't use but some I find invaluable.
- Set up with my own domaine name.
- Customer service is reasonably good - at least it exists, big name don't seem to have.
- Biggest complaint is I can't sync to my Google contacts 😒

Generally I'm very happy with Fastmail. It's a bit pricey now I'm no longer a business user. A free service would be satisfactory but too much hassle to switch.

The spam filtering is very poor.

The spam filtering is very poor, and they make the most absurd suggestions to try and improve it.

They want me to create a folder to mark emails as 'non-spam'. What? If I don't move an email from the inbox to the spam folder, shouldn't that be indication enough that it is NOT spam?

Speaking of which, I also receive Fastmail newsletters even though I'm opted out. This makes it spam, doesn't it?

I will be moving to another provider.

Buh bye GoDaddy Email Forwarding - FastMail saves the day!

I was using GoDaddy for years for just email forwarding. I like receive AnyAddress at domain.com to a my email inbox. (In Fastmail - that's done like * at domain.com). Then I'm "old school". I use a PC email app (like Thunderbird) to retrieve my email so I have my email on MY computer - you can keep your cloud.

When GoDaddy recently forced us to move to Office365 and BROKE everything email forwarding related without warning - I was in a panic. I have a small company domain and a personal domain (and a few others for good measure) and everything was broken.

I spent 1.5 hours in a pointless and circular chat with GoDaddy because my life and business were down because of this.

I was already successfully using Fastmail for SMTP sending for a special database tool that I wrote (for about 2 years now) - so I thought ... can Fastmail do what I want for inbound email?

It took less freaking time to set up FastMail than the amount of time I spent on chat support to get nowhere with GoDaddy.

Plus - every time you click on a help link at Fastmail - it's written by someone who clearly understands technology and people and how to give good examples and insight on how to use the tool.

So far, I've gotten one of my domains switched over and am taking "a break" to write this - I'm just so pleased and relieved. (Instead I should be getting my work email forwarding working ... but I'm almost giddy with how easy this was that I'm feeling overconfident about making the rest work out too).

I just had to write how relieved I am. OK - back to setting up the rest of the accounts.

I LOVE FASTMAIL

I’m a discerning older lad (so I’m full of 'you-know-what')... and I’ve been using paid Gmail for more than a decade. I stuck with them as they changed the name from Google Apps through to their current rendition, called Workspace. I have seen Gmail transform into a beautiful service and I felt okay because I was paying for it, after all, so I could not be their product. You can be both their paying client and their data mined (minion) subject.

Well, I thought it would be just awful to get out from the warm and fuzziness that I had grown into... I was heavily invested in Gmail’s tagging and automation.

I am pleasantly surprised with Fastmail’s web user interface and the ease with which I can do what I did before, and it is even easier than Gmail once you stop thinking in Gmail terms. Not to mention the convenience with which I can now create aliases or masked email addresses (which are different things in Fastmail). Never again will I give any vendor my basic email address. Future vendors and associations, etc. — will get either an alias or a masked email address from me — depending on how fast I think I might have to trash their access to the sanctum of my personal mailbox, once they start abusing my privacy.

Imagine how easy it will be to tell who ‘sold on’ your email address when you give someone a masked email, and then someone else starts writing to you 'there'.

Once Great, Now Horrible!

After using Fastmail for many years, recent changes have left their webmail dangerous and unusable. Fastmail has completely rewritten their entire website to be completely dependent on javascript and these changes were making my browser crash regularly, to the point of crashing my operating system so badly that hard resets were required. So, although I had already paid for many months ahead, I was forced to move to a different provider. Even the configuration pages have become unusable. I couldn't even copy my aliases from their website while migrating. Fastmail is a once-great company, now made horrible. Additionally, Australian privacy laws are now the worst in the entire world. Don't expect to find information about the recent changes using Google.

Fastmail = Luxury Email

I signed up for Fastmail this summer and have been amazed at the breadth of clever features and refinement built into the product. Embarrassingly I've amassed nearly half a million emails across various accounts over the years, importing it all to Fastmail was a snap, but even more impressive has been the speed and pleasantness of the interface. Pairing Fastmail with Sanebox's SaneLater service means I'm finally getting my unruly inbox tamed. Yippee!

A simpe and professional email service

This is a great email service that i keep using it since 2006, when i was sick and tired about so called „free” email providers, full of ads...
A very modern and simple interface that allows me to read my incoming messages without any disruptions in my own peace.
Even if may seem that this email service is just a simple email service, it is packed with many powerful features that can satisfy from simple users up to the most advanced organizations.
- It is the reason why i keep to use and i recommend this great and unique email service.

Love FastMail

Love FastMail, have been using it for more than four years. Feature rich, easy to use; the UI is fast, clean and simple.

My only complain is the lack of native app, loading time is painful on the mobile app.
