Satbir Kaur is the best event planner ever!

The hotel was great food was awesome, but what made the whole conference was the Event Planner Satbir Kaur. She was easy to talk too, did anything when asked, even let me use her laptop when mine wasn't working. I have been planning these conferences across Alberta for a few years and none of the other hotels event planners even come close to her for making the event a great success. I hope to see you in 5 years when we return to GP for another conference.

Our stay at the hotel on Tybee Island…

Our stay at the hotel on Tybee Island was wonderful. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed for a relaxing getaway. The manager, Brett Loehr, was exceptionally kind, and his staff was consistently helpful throughout our visit. Their friendliness and attention to detail made the experience even better.

We truly appreciated the warm hospitality and the welcoming atmosphere. It made our time on Tybee Island feel special.

Valentin Perla Blanca Cato Santa maria

From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff Yamilet and Pedro made me feel welcome. They patiently answered my questions and gave great recommendations for nearby attractions.

The team went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. Their attentive nature really stood out compared to other hotels I’ve stayed in.

We had an issue with my room key, but the receptionist handled it quickly and politely. It’s small gestures like these that make the stay stress-free.

Every staff member greeted me with a smile especially Yamilet Brito . Their kindness and professionalism made me feel valued as a guest.

The hotel was spotless, everything from the lobby to the bathroom was shining clean. It gave me peace of mind throughout my stay.
Housekeeping did an excellent job keeping the room fresh every day.
Towels and toiletries were always replaced on time.

I loved how well-kept the gardens and poolside area were; it added to the hotel’s charm. Special thanks to Amauri and Felix !

The beach bar and grill are the best I’ve ever seen and tasted in the Caribbean !!! Jose Alberto, Riccardo are fantastic barmen. Adrian the grill chef cooks with a passion that’s hard to find these days .

The lobby bar from morning to night are excellent .

Beware of Mayflower's illegal practices…

My Wife and I signup for a trip to Iceland with Mayflower Cruises and Tours of Lisle IL on June 26, 2025. The total cost of the trip was $7198 which included their offered “Trip Protection Plan”. The trip was scheduled to leave O’Hare International Airport on September23,2025 and arrive in Ireland the following day due to the time change.

We were picked up by Mayflower at 6:00PM on the evening of September 23rd and arrived at O’Hare at 7:00PM and were checked in for our 10:15PM flight.
Due to mechanical problems with our plane (Icelandic Air) which was a flat tire and later followed with a “brake problem”, the flight was ultimately cancelled at 2:15AM in the morning (the next day) after 4 delays. We were told that the pilots had “Timed out” and were unable to fly.
We immediately called the Mayflower Emergency telephone number for instructions on what we should do next. The person who answered was at home and was unable to access Mayflower’s computers to provide any assistance as to how we should proceed. After several calls between us we were told to go home and we would be contacted at 8:30AM the next morning when their Lisle office opened. We did that and arrived back home to Lemont IL at 4:30AM exhausted from the ordeal. We immediately went to bed.
We did not receive a call from Mayflower until 10:30AM the next morning advising us that we had been rebooked on a 4:00PM flight. Since we are both 74 and were exhausted from what happened the night before we decided to cancel the trip. We were woken up by the call, had no time to eat breakfast, shower and get dressed, arrange for our own transportation to the airport, deal with traffic to the airport and check in by the required time, we felt would not be possible, thus the cancellation. Additionally, if we did proceed with the trip we would miss over 1 day of the trip. If allowed to follow the itinerary as planned, we would be able to land in the morning, take some time to get over jet lag, and attend the welcome dinner to meet our fellow travelers. Instead, we would land in the middle of the night and not have any time to get over the jet lag prior to start touring in the morning. This was also a reason to cancel. This was no way to begin a trip.
Upon our notification to Mayflower of our intent to cancel, we were told that one (1) day of the trip or $1028.29 would be withheld from our trip cost because “we did not provide them with 24 hours’ notice prior to cancellation”. This of course was not possible since we had already engaged in the trip, presented ourselves at the airport and were ready to undertake the trip as planned. Of course, this makes no sense at all and was brought to the attention of both the VP of Operations in Lisle as well as their CEO Nish Patel who is in Australia. After numerous requested they refused to issue a complete refund, and they stated that their position is final. No where in the Trip Protection Plan is this stated, however they were the ones who breached the contract by not providing us with what we signed up for, and as such should provide us a total refund, not holding back one day.
After doing some research on the Better Business Bureau comments section, it appears that this practice has been done to many travelers in the exact same situation before and is not just.

8-Day Around the Island Iceland Troll…

We just returned from the Iceland Troll Expeditions 8-Day Island Tour (Dec 29, 2025 – Jan 5, 2026), and it was absolutely unforgettable!

Our guide, Haukur Simanafison, a native Icelander, truly made the trip special. Haukur was full of fascinating stories that brought Icelandic culture to life. He managed everything seamlessly—weather challenges, hotel and restaurant reservations, and activity scheduling—while keeping safety a top priority. His experience with icy roads and strong winds gave us peace of mind throughout the journey.

The itinerary was packed with adventure:

Glacier hike and ice cave exploration

Lava tunnel hike (we explored the first 700 meters of a 1.4 km tunnel!)

A relaxing hot spring spa followed by a plunge into a frozen lake with 5 inches of ice

Whale watching, where we saw two whales—one put on an amazing show

Visits to ice lagoons, black sand beaches, and the continental divide

Haukur even made sure we had multiple chances to see the Northern Lights, a bucket-list experience for most of us.

New Year’s Eve was magical—fireworks lit up the sky from evening until 2 AM! Haukur explained that local rescue squads sell fireworks to raise funds, which made the celebration even more meaningful.

The hotels were clean and comfortable, and the food was excellent and plentiful. I especially enjoyed the salted cod and horse steak. Tip: try the local beer or distilled spirits—imported wines don’t travel as well.

Despite only 4.5 hours of daylight, every day was full of adventure. The people were friendly, spoke English everywhere, and we were surprised by how many Europeans work in Iceland. Our tour group was a wonderful mix of travelers from China, Japan, Amsterdam, and Brazil, which made for great dinner conversations.

Overall: This tour was a little tiring but incredibly fun and rewarding. Haukur’s knowledge, organization, and enthusiasm made all the difference. We highly recommend Troll Expeditions’ 8-Day Island Tour for anyone looking for an authentic and adventurous Iceland experience!

Cameron, our guide was excellent. His enthusiasm was infectious and he was so clear with his instructions and interesting historical information about the history of England. He made the trip fun with his anecdotes and stories. He was helpful with tech needs. Cameron was very clear about times to return to the bus which made for a punctual trip for everyone. It was a very fun day and Cameron was a big part of the success. Thank you!

This amazing trip is an amazing taste of Irish culture and horse back riding.

This amazing trip is a wonderful way to see Ireland. This is now my THIRD trip to Connemara with Connemara Equestrian Escapes with owner Cait Goaley and her amazing team of people, horses and springer spaniels. Every time I have returned I am thankful for learning more about the rich history of Ireland. The horses are stunning, calm, and capable of supporting any level of rider. To take the beautiful scenery in on horseback is a gift like no other. The accommodations are relaxing, the food is healthily tasty. Multiple paths and trails from different settings, including Cait’s property on the beautiful Lough Courib, Ballynahinch Castle and the beach along the Wild Atlantic Way close to Clifden. This trip has been enjoyable every single time, and it is always an amazing equestrian experience!

Disappointing stay at The Millcroft Inn & Spa

The Millcroft Inn & Spa is in a beautiful setting, and we enjoyed the spa services, but our stay had some challenges that impacted the experience.

The internet was unreliable, and some basic amenities were overlooked—coffee was not refreshed, used dishes were left unwashed, and firewood was not replenished. During the room refresh, the bed was made, but the floors were not vacuumed, and the coffee and dishes were still not attended to. We were also given three room keys without keychains, and a guest hide-a-bed was not prepared. Additionally, garbage remained outside a neighboring door all day.

Temperature control was a bit confusing. After receiving multiple sets of instructions via text, we were eventually told to find a dial under the bathroom sink—an unusual setup that could have been explained more easily upfront.

The spa was lovely, but the closure of the outdoor facilities, including the hot tub and cold plunge, was disappointing.

Overall, while the Millcroft Inn & Spa has a lot of potential, a greater focus on service and attention to detail would make the experience even more enjoyable.

AndesChallenge tours led us on a 3-day…

AndesChallenge tours led us on a 3-day tour around the Salta area in northwest Argentina. Guides Facundo and Amalia were outstanding; well informed, amiable and flexible. It is hard to believe we saw so much in just our short visit.
Some highlights of our trip included
• A stop at the architecturally stunning Yacoraite winery where they are engaged in the bold effort to grow wine grapes at high altitudes a desert area subject to high winds and unpredictable rains. The food served was unique: a tasty assortment of unusual tamales and other local delicacies accompanied by excellent wines.
• A drive through the Quebrada de Humahuaca, the gateway to viewing the magnificent striped mountains of blue, orange, yellow, green and especially the one called the Hill of Seven Colors. You must take the 30-minute walk [not difficult] along a path where you can see the mountains close up. The drive ends at the Hornocal where one gets a panoramic view of these mountains at 15,000+ feet.
• The drive through an Andes mountain pass (viewing vicuñas and a guanaco on the way) to see the Salinas Grades, a giant salt flat; The whiteness of this vast expanse is impressive.
• Ending in Salta, we stopped at the very popular Museum of High Altitude Archaeology that houses the mummified bodies of two children and a young teenage girl sacrificed over 500 years ago by the Inca to appease their gods. Because of the high altitude of the volcano Llulaillaco (over 6700 meters) on which they were abandoned to die, these children’s bodies are perfectly preserved with their faces presenting a hauntingly sad and moving glimpse of the past.
We were so impressed by the efficiency and flexibility of Facundo and Amalia who rearranged a portion of our tour on short notice because of problems caused by the airlines. We missed no part of our tour thanks to them. We make the highest recommendation for this tour company.
