These people are crooks

These people are crooks. I've been with them for years and due to increased costs and the difficulty of using their authentication system which often resulted in my being locked out of my account, I decided not to renew. They went and charged another card of mine (one I hadn't authorized) and stole $113.25 from me. I will be notifying my bank of the fraudulent charge. Avoid this company.

Hi Frank, as per the terms of service you agreed to upon signup, cancelation can only be done via the portal. A simple e-mail to the mgmt-feedback address to say you were having trouble logging in would have allowed us to get you setup. 2FA is a part of any internet company these days, and I will never sacrifice the security of my customers.

Luke Insley, Umesh, and Jamie, Absolute Rockstars

Luke Insley, in technical support. This man is quite literally the best person who could have contacted me. I was shopping around to save money and he and his insight saved me more than I could have imagined. Saving me thousands of dollars annually, while securing a customer for many years to come. He alone is easily enough to boast about and keep me at Hostek. Then you add Umesh from billing in the mix. So polite, and accommodative. These two are some of the best representatives a business can have. High quality individuals, more than willing to not only assist you, but go above and beyond to accommodate your wants and needs. Luke helped me restructure my entire stack, saving me thousands of dollars annually, while allowing my business to scale with screaming fast equipment. Umesh structured my payments to unconventional due dates, allowing me the time I needed to make things happen financially. I'm so excited for the upcoming year thanks to the new changes I was afforded. Also, Jamie has been extremely helpful to me throughout the years. When I first started this company she basically trained me how to manage servers/websites, through a series of way to many support tickets (due to my lack of knowledge) and phone calls directly to support.

Thank you Luke, Umesh, and Jamie. I appreciate you. Your assistance has helped me maintain my entire household for years now. My kids, wife, and I have food on our table because of your services and assistance. You may just be doing your job, but the impact you have on the very outcome to the quality of my life is affected by your actions, and you always do right by me. As a business

As a business, we been with Hostek for years, and each year the service gets worse. We keep promising to leave them, despite the inconvenience that would cause, but don't.

This year we will, as their online support is virtually non-existent. They use PO box addresses in the UK to sell themselves as UK-based, but they are not.

Hopeless.

We use a PO Box to protect our employees, but I can assure you there is an office, as I was just there in October. Online support is by email only if you are a shared hosting customer. Shared hosting is meant for hobby websites, not businesses. Cloud hosting also includes phone support, which is more tailored for business needs.

Hostek regarding a critical issues

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received from Hostek regarding a critical issue I reported on August 19, 2025. It took four days for the problem to be addressed, with the first response only coming on August 23, 2025. During this period, I was unable to work on my website, resulting in lost data that could not be recovered.
What makes this particularly frustrating is that the fault was internal on your side, yet I was expected to identify and fix the problem myself. The support technician attributed the issue to an HTTPS redirect in the .htaccess file, which was not my responsibility and caused further delays.
As someone who relies on my website for my livelihood, waiting four days without resolution is unacceptable. I trust you understand the importance of timely and effective customer support, and I hope you will take steps to improve your response times and support quality to prevent similar situations in the future. Even this had to be addressed by Luke, as it felt like he was almost demanding that someone from tech fix the issue, as evidenced by his cc'ing an email to me stating this. This is still ongoing!

The not receiving emails, I've been reporting this issue since you took over from Pickaweb (2021) Would you like the answers I received:
1. check your email is connected to your account. (my email is my account name)
2. Check they are not in your junk folder.
3. Please allow 24 hours to receive emails. (4 years is longer than 24 hours I believe)
4. Luke had to email me via his own work email as I wasn't receiving emails from tech. I've even added another email account. That for several weeks worked. Now that as stopped.
I would love to go on about your reply to my review, It was self-serving BS
As for AI Assistants:
I have found this a godsend. Fin (AI's name) has helped me out clearly and seems to understand my lack of tech knowledge. Making me feel that I'm being listened to and points me in the right direction, which has given me a better understanding of improving my SEO.
Luke:
Luke was also helpful, I've never denied this. It would have been nice to be informed that having two different cPanels pointing at the same domain would cause issues. That was the root cause of the problems. Additionally, he sold me another hosting package, which necessitated the creation of a new htaccess file (htaccess.bak). I was also promised extra support because this was a new AI WP shared-cPanel setup that had not yet been thoroughly tested for bugs or errors in real-world use.
I have increased your rating to 3 stars. Not due to your response, As I still find that self-serving BS. But the better understanding. I've gained from Fin (AI Assistant)

As the head of Hostek, I want to ensure you understand this response is meant to simply let you understand the current state of the hosting industry and support. I also understand this is not going to be the reply you were looking for, but again, I don't BS my customers.



I've reviewed the entirety of your support history with us. I understand Luke helped out quite a bit here, and also did discuss this with him. He absolutely went above and beyond here, and I have zero issues with that, but it is not the proper expectation for your entirety of business with Hostek.



1) Your domain expiring is not on Hostek. We have over 10,000 customers and 100,000 domains, we cannot possibly ensure that each customer whose domain is expiring is really receiving our emails.



2) Our assistance with Wordpress also went above and beyond what you pay for. And to respond to your public review, no, .htaccess management is NOT part of support. We're happy to assist, but can't always do that, and especially not in the time frame you're looking for at the rate you pay. Shared hosting offers support by ticket only, and up to 24 hour response times. If you need more than that, $10 a month is not where you're going to get that unfortunately.



3) As much as I personally hate AI, it's here to stay, and it's coming to every company that offers support, especially at $10 a month.



The bottom line, it is a truly get what you pay for situation. If this is a hobby site, then you're fine, but also need to have proper expectations of support, which are clearly stated in our statements of support.



Again, I know this isn't the reply you're looking for, but I don't lie or BS my customers, and this is the reality of the hosting industry in 2025.
