Avoid Hostenga

We rent out flat in Annecy through Hostenga. They shut our account on the 2nd of April without warning and cancelled all our bookings. They did not pay us the rent for Feb and March. We are suprised that more people are not complaining about them. AVOID HOSTENGA.

Total Scam Do Not Use

Total scam. Do not use. I booked a reservation with them two weeks ago and canceled the next day. The reservation had free cancellation until July. They have not refunded me or even responded to my inquiries. Booking.com has been absolutely useless as well.

WARNING

WARNING! DO NOT RENT FROM HOSTENGA!
We booked a property in Annecy, France through VRBO with these con men. They make you pay through a different site than VRBO, which is a tip-off, and leaves you no recourse. In the middle of our trip, a few days before we went to Annecy, they contacted us, urgently demanding a 500 Euro “security deposit” or our reservation would be canceled. With no choice, we coughed up. When we left, the checkout person said the place was “perfect”— she was clearly in on the scam. Needless to say, we never saw that money again. VRBO has kicked Hostenga off the site after numerous complaints. Avoid these criminals.

Randomly cancelled reservation!!!

We booked one of their flats in Annecy through Airbnb in MARCH (the booking was for June) and today they randomly cancelled our reservation WITHOUT ANY EXPLAINATION! Fortunately Airbnb refounded me of the amount I paid in advance, however now it's impossible to contact them or even see the listing's availability on airbnb. Avoid them at all costs, not a scam but just bad bad service and communication.

Confusing communication

Booked through booking.com, knew that they would take payment in advance, but was surprised when both first and second instalments were requested with urgency, saying they had been trying to request payment before on multiple occasions. This seemed strange to me, but I ignored it as it seemed like a system error. I repeatedly asked them to mark on the system that the invoice for the booking had been fully paid in advance, but they ignored my messages. Alarm bells began to ring when I received another urgent message saying I still owed them money and had been ignoring them , which was completely untrue. I became worried that they would cancel my booking, so I rang up their customer service to resolve the issue, I was told that my booking “did not exist” by someone on the phone, which again worried me. I then discovered negative reviews so hastily cancelled my reservation in order to try to get a full refund per booking.com’s refund policy, however they have been completely ignoring me since and I have not received my refund from them. The matter is now with Booking.com who are trying to reach the company.

Avoid Hostenga at all costs!!!

This company is so hard to deal with AND booking.com are no help. We had to cancel our accommodation and we can't get any response from Hostenga, no one answers calls, or messages over multiple days. Really would expect better from booking.com

Hostenga does not answer clients

Hostenga does not answer messages or calls. They are sending me payment reminder and warn of potential cancelation of booking tomorrow while everything is paid!!
I try to call and we can only leave a voicemail which I did.
No costumer service at all…
I have written this hoping Hostenga would see it and contact me to clear the situation asap
Update after booking: our booking has never been cancelled and we were able to check in. They kept sending us automatic emails with wrong 😑 nfo about our payment… Check in details have arrived 1h before check in time (instead of 3h). Very stressful experience despite everything went well once check in was do e

NO answer from Hostenga

I have faced the similar issue with my stay as review before. I am coming to France on 18th February to Sainte Gervais Les Bains and wanted to confirm my check in time and have some details from Host but they are not answering on messages in Airbnb and on other platforms or phone as well. It is really stressful for me because I am arriving at night and will not have a lot options to find other place to stay and would like not to face additional expenses that it can cause, in case that I have already paid for this stay.

Avoid at all costs.

I haven't even stayed yet but I am full of dread ahead of my arrival.

I was asked to pay the final balance long before the actual due date that was quoted at the time of booking. This wasn't a problem but the messaging suggested they had been contacting me multiple times before (which they hadn't).

I then paid the balance and this should have been the matter resolved, but have since received multiple final payment reminders saying this balance is outstanding. This is grossly incorrect and I can see that this has gone from my credit card. However, contacting Hostenga is impossible. I have left multiple voicemails, emailed and messaged via Booking.com and have not received a single reply that isn't an automated payment reminder.

Booking.com have attempted to contact Hostenga with no luck, they ignore every one and I am panicked that I will arrive in France with nowhere to stay.

I will be taking the matter to the courts to retrieve any balance if I have nowhere to stay.

I encourage everyone to take the reviews on Trustpilot seriously, I wish I had taken a look at these before booking.

I have also seen on the Booking.com website that retrieving the security deposit is not easy, which doesn't surprise me.

Extremely dissapointing: no-show at check-in! And now lies!

We recently booked an apartment in Saint-Gervais-les-Bains, France through booking.com with the Hostenga agency for a stay from January 1 to January 6, 2024. Unfortunately, our arrival on New Year's day turned into a nightmare. Despite prior communication, there was no one to hand us the keys, leaving us waiting for hours in the evening in a freezing parking lot. Multiple attempts to contact the agency by phone, messages and email went unanswered. As it was getting late and with no alternative, we had to drive back down into the valley to secure a last-minute hotel room at IbisHotel in Passy, incurring an unexpected expense.
The next day, after talking to a number of helpful local people living in the area around the apartment, I managed to get a direct phonenumber of - luckily - the correct person who manages a couple of apartments in the same complex. We finally got everything sorted and the key in the afternoon of January 2, 2024. At no point did we receive an explanation or excuses for the events.
They don't reply to emails, but as a reply to my (bad) booking.com review, they now claim that I had not paid for the reservation and it was cancelled. I do have two emails from Hostenga confirming receipt of the payments and the reservation on 31/12/2023.
I had booked the apartment with Hostenga through booking.com on 31/12. Hostenga refused my creditcard payment through booking and sent 2 emails to ask for payment through their own platform: one for the rental fee (which was already 20 euros more than the fee advertised on Booking, that should have been a red flag!) and one for a deposit of 300 euros. I paid both the rental fee and the deposit in full by creditcard on 31/12/2023. For both the rental fee payment and the deposit reservation I have received confirmation by email from Hostenga on 31/12/2023. 
For a company with hospitality as their core business, that is beyond atrocious to leave a family out in the cold and then even victim blaming and lying about it.

An experience I do not wish on anyone, as a traveler I would not recommend booking with Hostenga ever again!
As an owner I would never let Hostenga manage my properties, it will reflect badly on the quality of your accomodation!

Would give 0 stars if I could.
We had to take away our booking on an apartment in Nice in September since our flights got cancelled. The apartment was from Hostenga but booked through booking and should be fully refundes.
Fast forward to December and we STILL haven't got a refund, after months of asking both booking and Hostenga to refund us.
This site is a complete scam- don't book anything that Hostenga is responsible for on any site! Neither we nor booking can reach anyone responsible

Hostenga is a scam..

Hostenga is a scam... especially Hostenga France. See the other review Jade left in October for corroboration. The communication is a non-factor and any other attempts to contact them are like pulling teeth.

I paid for my lodging through VRBO and Hostenga sent me a message about needing to pay THEM. Well, I finally got all that sorted out and then paid them.

I then got another email asking for another payment. Turns out they only credited half of my first payment and I had to make the second payment all over again. After this they kept sending me messages demanding additional payment even after all my payments had been made!

I took this issue to VRBO as Hostenga had not replied to any message I sent them and they reached out on my behalf. Well, guess who finally contacted me... Hostenga. They assured me payment was made and I felt like things had been taken care of... WRONG!

One week into my vacation (at another lodging), I get an email from Hostenga DEMANDING payment. I was floored. Thus, I immediately cancelled my reservation and notified VRBO. I was lucky that I was eligible to get my payment 100% refunded. This was all supposed to happen within 24 hours. However...

I am now back in the states and after more than a week of sending messages to these scammers, they have finally credited me with the appropriate refunds, per the agreement I signed up for when reserving their listing in the first place.

In summary, do your self a favor and steer clear of Hostenga listings... or any third party hosting company's for that matter. I had two other stays at two other apartments on my trip and everything went amazingly. Keep your head on a swivel, or else you will get taken to the cleaners with this operation.

I reserved thru booking.com, "Livanto Studio 711 Beausoleil à Beausoleil, France." And after reservation , it was ordered to pay Hostenga .com. Hostenga took money 770 euro for 8.9 to 5.9 , however, then nightmare started. Nothing.
