Very unreliable
I used it for years with no problems. But I can no longer log in to the web, and my messages to the support "bot" are rejected. An unreliable bank is the worst. For a 2nd account, it works well, but I would not recommend it as a main one.

Absolutely love this app and bank…
Absolutely love this app and bank itself. Everything could be easily online done. Also the interest when you have savings a good thing. All in English that makes it much easier for expats like me. And zero fees for an account holding. The app itself doesn’t have any issues(on iPhone). Easy transfers, payments and all the data is very affordable and intuitive.
After closing my account
After closing my account, N26 returned the remaining balance to another bank account of mine, but the €3455.91 transfer simply disappeared without any clarification.
This situation is extremely concerning and unacceptable for a licensed European bank.
Since I received no response from N26’s support team for weeks, I have now officially submitted a complaint to BaFin (the German financial regulator) and requested their assistance in locating and recovering the missing funds.
I sincerely hope N26 resolves this issue quickly and provides transparency regarding what happened to this transfer.

Keep my funds after closure
I had an N26 account which was suddenly restricted and later closed.
Before the closure, a transfer of €8,400 was sent from my Payoneer account to my N26 IBAN. The sending institution confirmed the transfer was successfully executed. However:
• the funds were never credited to my N26 account
• the funds were never returned to the sender
• and I received no explanation from N26 despite several emails
After closing my account, N26 returned the remaining balance to another bank account of mine, but the €8,400 transfer simply disappeared without any clarification.

A fantastic app but the worst service on the planet
In general, N26 is a fantastic app. Easy to use and perfect if you want to have shared spaces with your family. Been using it for quite a while now – always with very low account numbers, since I still have my main traditional bank account. Today I decided it's worth it to transfer one business account from my old bank, having 30k lying around there, and the flexibility of N26 would allow for easy investments in ETFs and other stuff. The app's ease of use is really cool and finally convinced me to do that.
By accident, I realized that my account still uses my old phone number and an outdated email for whatever reason. Tried to change both, which seemed pretty straightforward – click edit and confirm in the app. Done that for the mail address, which worked super smoothly. Tried the same for the phone number and got the info that this is not possible.
And from here on, things went south in a way that made me rethink my decision and open myself to other smart banking options (and yes, there are alternatives). Having a Business Metal account, I decided to call the Priority Hotline – which, surprisingly, just plays a message telling me to open a chat in the app (well, at least this way you can offer this Service to basically everyone, as nothing is happening anyway). Started a chat and after writing my request to change the phone number the third time to a seemingly basic chatbot, finally got connected to a human.
It would have been better to deal with the chatbot until the very end. Being a fancy and cool company, the customer service guy acted like we were hanging out in a bar after the third beer, knowing each other for a decade. I repeated my request and complained that it's not really very user-friendly to make things look super easy in an app and randomly implement non-working functions. Got an endless message about how changing phone numbers, email addresses (or gender) works, requiring basically everything you had to provide during first registration. I replied that it's a bit weird to give the impression that I can edit everything in an app. Why can I change both things with the implemented change feature, and it works for the email, but trying the same for the phone number directs me to a non-existent Priority Chat?
Basically, I got treated like an idiot and told that if things were so easy, he would not have written the prior message, which was basically nonsense, as while we were having our little chat, I had already changed the mail – something he said would also require this crazy full registration procedure.
Got quite pissed because I had the feeling this was starting to become a bit of a joke. Next: New directive from the agent of chaos, now no longer requiring a new registration, but an invoice of my phone number stating that it is mine and sending it via mail to the support (sidetone: I cannot even imagine how this might have developed if I had done that, as my phone is registered together with other numbers in a corporate account, not stating my name but the story ends sooner anyway).
Made a final attempt to ask if I can close the account without changing my phone number (because I somehow realized during this little journey that having five-figure amounts in a bank with a customer service like this seems a bit too much like living on the edge to me), while the friendly human simply terminated the chat, which of course is also always an option to deal with customer inquiries.
Long story short: N26 is a fantastic app, with great functionality and easy to use. Just make sure you never need to change anything that requires manual backend work (even though you don't know up front which changes do), and pray each night that you never need to contact customer service. Seriously!
I was able to downgrade my subscription to the most basic version and will keep my account below 1k, as I still want to use the Shared Space my fiancé set up for us. Motivated now to explore new registration processes, I will give Revolut a try for the business subscription ...

I have been locked out of my N26…
I have been locked out of my N26 account for weeks. Every time I contact support, they pass me around like a hot potato and do absolutely nothing to fix the problem. No updates, no solutions, just endless excuses. I can’t access my own money, and N26 clearly doesn’t care. This is incompetent, unprofessional, and unacceptable for any bank. Avoid N26 if you value your time, money, or sanity.

Referral bonus still not paid after weeks of support contacts
I referred a friend to N26 in January 2025 through their referral program. My friend completed the required card spending within the deadline, but I still have not received the promised referral bonus.
What is most frustrating is the customer support experience. I contacted support several times in March and kept receiving generic answers, contradictory information, and no clear explanation. At one point I was even incorrectly told that the referral had not been made, before that statement was later corrected.
My friend also contacted support and was told the case had been escalated internally, but weeks later there is still no resolution.
I understand that internal reviews can take time, but I expect transparency, consistency, and a clear timeline. Very disappointing experience so far.

No dispute option
It’s essentially impossible to dispute a payment. Once it’s done it’s done, even if the vendor didn’t placed any order. Absolutely ridiculous for an online bank.
P.S. N26 customer service, there’s no need to reply: I’ve already closed my bank account. Bye and until never.
