Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 670 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complain about extremely expensive fares, constant transport delays, and unreliable services across the network. Many people also experienced severe issues with unexpected penalty fines, crowded conditions, and unhelpful customer support. Passengers note that management and communication need significant improvements to resolve these ongoing problems. Some reviewers were happy with the staff, noting that employees were exceptionally polite and helpful when assisting passengers. Travelers occasionally highlighted great assistance during station visits, accessibility support, and successful lost property recoveries. These positive interactions provided a welcoming touch during otherwise stressful journeys.

TFL is a joke...

I would give 0 stars but there is no option to do that. TFL is a joke. Constant delays, track faults (that they can't fix for long time), strikes (it's time to replace them with AI) and it's expensive to use (I now understand why people are just going through gates without paying). Overall probably the worst public transport in Europe...

This a state run SCAM!!!!!

The London congestion charge is one big State Scam!!!!
The London congestion charge system feels completely unfair. I paid the charge the day after travelling, yet I still received a letter demanding payment. When I called to explain that I had already paid, I was told that because I didn’t manually select the correct date of travel, I now have to pay the penalty — and the £18 I already paid cannot be refunded. It’s outrageous and feels like a system designed to catch people out rather than help them. The whole process needs serious reform.

Be careful of contesting any PCNs with them

we made a representation against charges on 30.04.26 total cost £270 with no contact since i rang them today to be told that they had not received the PCN Claim. I told them I had proof (screen shot of the claim) the robot (Andrew) JUST KEEP REPEATING TO MAKE ANOTHER CLAIM (they would just not respond and ramp up the charges again and so I have just paid them £810 just to put an end to this TOTAL RIP OFF !!! Be careful of contesting any PCNs with them they just ignore and increase costs SHAMEFUL

My wife was travelling from Heathrow…

My wife was travelling from Heathrow terminal 5 to Shenfield and she can quite easily use tap in/out using apple pay but staff at station forced her to buy ticket because Shenfield is in zone 9, really? you can travel using oyster. I guess staff needs to be educated more so that they don't create confusion to traveler. Also, Elizabeth line is highly unreliable, its my second time that it never runs on time, i guess govt should stop wasting public money on this train specifically.

These bastards are just greedy and…

These bastards are just greedy and never satisfied. Their trains carry millions of people at astronomical prices, and yet they still organize some kind of strikes. "Saving money," my foot. I actually know some train drivers and I understand human psychology—they are perfectly happy with their lives and don't organize these strikes.
Every single day I commute to work with someone else's bag pressed against my back and an umbrella practically in my mouth because of the overcrowding. The journey is exhausting and stressful. And if you forget to tap out somewhere just once, they hit you with a maximum day charge. It feels like we are living in BCE times, not the 21st century! Everyone has AI nowadays, but these crooks only care about ripping you off. What the hell are you charging for? As if you don't see exactly where I get on and off every single day.

Ulez cameras incorrectly charging compliant vehicles

I have identified issues with my Auto Pay account that require urgent attention due to ULEZ cameras incorrectly reading my vehicle registration.

The charges applied show my vehicle registration; however, I am being billed for incorrect vehicle registrations at these locations, as clearly shown in the images in my autopay account ,resulting in incorrect charges being applied to my Auto Pay account.

While reviewing my Auto Pay account, I discovered a 2025 charge already taken from my account, despite my vehicle being correctly registered and compliant. I also identified two further pending ULEZ charges linked to my vehicle at cameras on Hurst Road, Sidcup, and Sevenoaks Way, Orpington. In both cases, the images clearly show my vehicle, but the ANPR system recorded incorrect vehicle registrations, resulting in charges being wrongly applied to my Auto Pay account.

In my correspondence with TfL Auto Pay, I received generic responses that did not address the issue raised. I was asked to provide a V5C and a letter of conformity, despite my vehicle already being compliant and previously confirmed as such by TfL. This is irrelevant, as my dispute concerns incorrect ANPR readings and resulting charges, not vehicle compliance.

Despite repeated contact, the issue remains unresolved, and no meaningful explanation or resolution has been provided by TfL.

I would urge anyone using Auto Pay to regularly check their account and any outstanding charges, as incorrect ANPR readings at these locations and possibly anywhere may lead to wrongful billing.

Been going down ans down year after year. That's what happens when you hire incompetent people and have incompetent bosses. Second time in 2 days that my Wimbledon train turns into a Richmond train after an already long journey with train cancellation. You now have 4 Richmond trains for 10 minutes and no Wimbledon for 15, and the next train is going to get packed on an extremely hot day. Tfl is playing with people s health ans life, they should get sued especially for the price we pay to these incompetent advantage takers. Make me sick

Imagine I parked my car thinking the…

Imagine I parked my car thinking the destination was not far, 30 minutes. Thanks to TfL’s less than efficient bus (121)service deciding to stop in the middle of the journey in the middle of nowhere to change drivers this took 20 minutes, because the driver was later and in today’s heat! Needless to say I didn’t reach the school for the meeting and had to reschedule the entire thing, inconvenient to everyone.
Ever time I get onto TfL buses or trains, I have a real reality check as to exactly why I drive. It’s all fine if you have absolutely nothing important to do or work to time slots, or don’t have access to car. That’s London for you, poor value for money, always! It’s so bad that I don’t think tfl even care enough to read any feedback or reviews, they are lovers of money though.

Where's my money?

So not only am I awaiting a refund from May 29th due to being charged twice for the same journey but now I have been charged £10.40 for walking through a barrier and immediately back to activate a top up as the external readers were not working

It is supposed to be erased within 48hrs well it was 6 days ago and they haven't even acknowledged my request

Honestly I wish I could travel with another provider as the service is shocking

Incidently the Elizabeth Line & Southeastern rarely connect - its actually quicker to take the DLR & normal trains

PS Theobald Group will call - not TFL - for one ring and hang up, so clearly don't wish to help with

No AC on London’s brand new electric buses - why?!

We boarded a C11 bus from Hampstead to Highgate yesterday. It was a brand new electric bus (these buses are, generally speaking, a great improvement on the old diesel buses, they are quiet and don’t pollute). However, it was hot in London yesterday, 27c, and this new single decker bus had NO AC!!! It had just one tiny window strip which was open, no other windows, on one of the hottest days of the year. It was like being in a sauna. Why is there no AC on a brand new bus? Hard to fathom. D-
