PayPal doesn’t care about customer service

I recently wrote a review complaining about PayPal’s careless mis-categorising of my payments resulting in my having to pay fees for non-existent ‘money order or wire transfers’. PayPal have not commented nor apologised, which is in line with their 1.2 star rating in TrustPilot. I’m going to stop using PayPal — it’s a shame as they were once a useful service.

BUYER PROTECTION

BUYER PROTECTION! Beware.
Anyone who thinks they are safe using PayPal due to their buyer protection think again.
After proving and providing evidence of a fraudulent delivery photograph (a pure black photograph) by Evri including written admission by Evri that the parcel was missing I put the buyer protection to the test.
After almost 2 months of emails as they do not like to answer their telephone contact number they decided in the favour of the seller.
My bank decided within hours otherwise and sanctioned a chargeback due to evidence supplied. After 20yrs or more of using PayPal the one time I needed help it failed miserably hence I will never use PayPal again.

Too much fraud

Over the years I have experienced too much fraud. Account hacked, funds removed, etc. Their decision on this occasion was in favour of the seller. (Surprise, Surprise). Paypal cited no explanation to their conclusion. I will settle what is outstanding on my account and close it thereafter. I will also advise family and friends to avoid PayPal.

Cant be trusted - I had to open a claim for a product that didnt work, sent PayPal all the screenshots of the supplied licence key failing to activate the software - Paypal refused the claim "the item had not been miss-represented" ?? - the fact it didnt work seemed irrelavant :-( - wont be using PayPal anymore - now i understand why eBay binned PayPal off a few years ago

Claim rejected for a counterfeit product

I was suckered into a counterfeit product and paid through PayPal, I raised a claim and they found in favour of the seller, saying they could not see that the product was falsely advertised. For god sake it is obviously counterfeit. Used PayPal for years and first claim, one of the reasons for using was the protection, well not worth using them.

Definitely no longer what it used to be.

I have been with Paypal for well over 20 years...but it no longer protects its customers, is frustratingly difficult to speak to a human being...not impossible, but difficult. Why am I still with Paypal then. I have tried to cancel my account but it seems this may not be possible unless I email Paypal. No problem, I'll email them, but in the meantime I have stopped using this company that has gone downhill bigtime. Steer clear for sanity's sake.

Let down by terrible resolution centre

If there is less than one star, I would go for that.

Paypal let scammer to set free. There is no customer protection, when it comes to scam or fraud. I had to go to financial ombusman route to resolve the unfair decision made by paypal.

They should stop complete reliance on AI for customer service. The security setting at paypal is very questionable.

Just spoke with a lovely CS rep Jean about incorrect transactions on my account. She was very polite, professional and solved my issue within 5 mins. Excellent service and a credit to Paypal!!! To add to this I was told I would be refunded in 24 hours. If took 1 hour! Beat that!!

I am in dispute regarding an unauthorised payment to "myiq.com". PayPal have found in favour of myiq, but haven't explained why. They do not give appropriate options on their resolution site, so you are forced to choose the nearest option. This no doubt a contributory factor to their decision, but when trying to challenge the decision they suggest the best option is to message them, but the message option does not work. I suspect the unauthorised oayment made on my card is probably part of a large scale scam but I cannot raise this theough PayPals communication options. I no longer feel safe using PayPal.

I wish i could file a lawsuit

I wish i could file a lawsuit. My account was hacked and was changing my password and sending money from my account to random paypal accounts that were probably hacked also. I kept asking them to check how many devices were allowed access because there should only be one they said they can't get that information, which is a lie. I reported the unauthorized transactions and they denied my claim even tho on the phone with them the scum was trying to hack back in real time while talking with support. It was clearly obvious my account was compromised but they let my account get over $1000 stolen, never refunded , just denied my claims and closed my account.

The worst customer service I have ever received as a buyer you have zero protection from these people.

what a dreadful customer service a bunch of people who have absolutely no idea about what on earth are they doing. as a buyer. I have got absolutely no protection from Paypal whatsoever I Am Out of Pocket by £27.84 from an item I bought from TikTok Shop Seller.
The item was returned because it arrived damaged and squashed in the post and was not working however Paypal Customer Services has been lying to me for over three weeks now I have not got my money back.
Paypal customer services are now saying to me I need to contact my bank and make a claim from my bank because Paypal has closed the case and therefore I have to make a claim through my bank.
The item was returned because it was crushed in the post and it was faulty and it was returned within 10 days,I expect a full refund.
I want to know what happened to my buyers protection what is the point of PayPal?
the most irritating thing about the whole situation is the customer services at Paypal continuously to lie, and have misled me, and provide false information. I would highly recommend getting away from Paypal. Close your account and just use your credit card and avoid all the nightmare worse customer service I have ever received.

PayPal is a ROGUE

PayPal is a ROGUE, it is official everyone beware!

@Trust-pilot please create a slot for zero star it is needed and important you do more than ever before for fraudulent companies who still thrive on the 1 star!!!

I purchased an item using my PayPal credit account and the item not as disclosed and wrong size was an issue for me, when I contacted PayPal for assistance to raise a dispute on the order I was told the time for them to step in was already gone. As it was past 1 month by a few days and all because I was in communication with the company I purchased from in the first instance, all with the hope that they would do the right thing and send me the correct item in exchange for the not as described and wrong size sent to me, however, the emailing back and forth was taking too long so I decided to contact PayPal and with PayPal saying they couldn’t step in I continued with the company hoping to get my refund from them if they could send a prepaid return postage as I could not afford to be out of pocket for an item they messed up on. They were being cheeky asking me to use my money to pay almost £30 to send item to some other address in USA I was not going to be their errand girl especially not with my personal money posting their item to another customer on their behalf. As they kept taking their sweet time to respond and do right by me so I decided to write a review on them while I waited for them to sort out the postage and get them to resolve the issue.
Well the company decided to fix the issue finally and sort out my refund, which they did.

However, on checking my PayPal account the full refund done was showing short of the $155.40 (£121.59 )I paid for the product instead it was showing $155.40 (£115.95), so I called up PayPal to enquire how a full refund made can still be leaving me out of pocket especially that I chased up the refund with the company myself.

Their answer was it would be due to the exchange rate at the time and it is in their terms and conditions so there is nothing they can do about it.

This is simply a criminal act!!!! In what world does a customer get a FULL REFUND and still get left out of pocket…. Yeah in the world of PayPal scamming customers and backed with their terms and conditions. Who exactly has the back of customers in this whole nasty devouring world where everyone wants to make it at the expense of innocent customers?
Rules made protects the seller who sells rubbish to genuine and innocent customers (buyers) taking money not due to them for the not as described and junk they send out to customers. If correct item as advertised get sent to customers there would be no need to chase up for a refund in the first place.
There has to be someone , some authority out there looking out for the customers so that hooligans like PayPal and vulture like companies would stop using the law against the innocent customers to/for their own advantage.

PayPal needs to fix this mess by making sure the full refund done covers the payment as the payment done for the item was $155.40 USD (£121.58 paid in pounds ) and that same $155.40 USD was fully refunded after I fought hard for my right by myself, but it had to to £115.95 instead.

I should not have to be left out of pocket paying some silly extra for a full refund . I already started paying the bill; I paid £100 out of the so called amount ages ago refund my £100 to my account and make sure there is nothing being charged to me for an item that was fully refunded.

THE MEANING OF FULL REFUND:
A full refund means getting all your money back, typically legally required for faulty goods. For faulty items, you're entitled to a full refund if it's broken, not as described, or unfit for purpose.

0 stars

0 stars - PayPal is absolutely terrible for businesses.

They are currently holding over £2,000 of our money because of just three disputes, all of which are completely wrong and backed by tracking, dispatch confirmation, and clear evidence. Despite processing hundreds of orders per day with virtually no issues, PayPal immediately froze funds with no fair review and no common sense.

There is zero real support, no urgency, and no understanding of how damaging this is to a legitimate business. You are treated as guilty by default, regardless of your account history or proof provided.

This is automated, lazy, and completely unfair. Cash flow is critical for businesses, and PayPal clearly does not care who they hurt in the process.

After this experience, I will never use PayPal again. I strongly advise other business owners to avoid them unless you’re prepared for your money to be held hostage over nothing.
