Parental authority to travel nonsense
I travelled to Athens for a week with my nine year old son. No problems getting there in any way with Sky Express. A flawless trip. Well done Sky Express.
However, on the return date at the check in desk in Athens airport, I was told I needed the written consent of my ex wife to fly my own son home to the UK. Yes, you heard that correctly, i'd already finished my holiday.
Having already been allowed into Greece by the same airline and spent a week there, I was pretty baffled. My son has the same surname as me and I have 50/50 full time joint custody of him without any court interference atall.
Horrified, I thought they wouldn't let us on the flight. They wanted me to contact my ex wife at 5 a.m U.K time to get written permission from her by email. None of this was reasonable then and there.
Permission was sought from somebody with a new remarried surname who could have been anybody just to say I could take my own son home l, not into Greece, home with his own father. None of us here are Greek in any way in case you wondered, everybody has UK passports.
Thank god my ex wife had her phone on at 5 a.m. Many divorcees don't even speak to each other so how would this have worked out for somebody else put in this position?
The attitude of the staff was poor. I was robotically refered twice to the websites policy on this nonsense. Ok, a policy is there, but why on earth would anybody think this is an actual thing? Especially on a return home flight. Google it, theres not a lot out there for this.
I had to ask to see a manager (i'm not normally one of those people) to get anywhere with this and then get my ex wife to email Sky Express then and there to be allowed on the flight.
A stressful experience. Yes a policy existed. Common sense and empathy in the situation? None.
I won't use Sky Express again. I'm pretty sure this only happened as i'm the male parent. Had it been the mother, I don't think any of this would have been an issue atall.
Extremely disappointing customer experience with Sky Express
I tried for more than two hours to check in online and add baggage before my flight, although the system still showed that check-in was open for more than 1 hour and 20 minutes. Both check-in and adding baggage were technically impossible.
I also called their customer service several times. After waiting over 20 minutes in the queue, my calls were disconnected twice — no help, no solution.
When I arrived at the airport, I was forced to pay €120 for 2 checked bags, although the online price would have been €90. Even worse: online you could book 23 kg per bag, but at the airport only 20 kg were allowed. I had to unpack my luggage on-site to meet this lower limit, which was embarrassing and frustrating — especially because I was travelling with my family and two small children.
No Sky Express staff was available at the airport to assist or clarify the situation. The whole check-in process was chaotic and time-consuming, delaying not only us but other passengers as well.
This was by far one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had with an airline. I am currently waiting for a refund and compensation for the additional costs and the stress caused.
Sky Express does not pay for lost luggage
On September 29, 2024, while traveling from Fira to Athens Sky Express misplaced our luggage for three days and they are supposed to pay us 120 euros. They haven't yet paid the money. Last time I complained on one of the platforms about two months ago, I immediately got a response saying they are running behind and will send the payment soon. But no action again and no response to my emails to their customer service. Not sure where to go from here. I have stopped using the airline.

Most of my experience with Sky express has been good, aircrafts are generally small but they are ok.
The reason i am not putting 4-5 star is trying to check in for a flight leaving from LGW, I was not able to check in without a random allocated seat !!! For some reason when I selected random allocated seat the system kept moving me back to the previous step without being able to complete online checkin! In the end I had to allocate myself a paid seat, which I did not want to - but I wanted to avoid the hassle of waiting in long queues at the airport.
That is absurd, I have flown hundreds of times, especially with low-cost airlines (ryan, wizz, easyjet) and never EVER had to pay for a seat if I did not want! I figure that most of the free seats were already allocated? Even that, you should not be obliged to pay for a seat if you dont want to...
Also, the website was a bit fiddly, had to refresh the page a few times. Please guys, fix this issue - it is really bad for your image.

Plane late leaving Gatwick and we were on the plane for over an hour without any explanation from the crew. We had to catch an onward Sky flight to Rhodes and were met on our arrival in Athens by an employee who was there to help. Unfortunately he did not wait for all of us and as I hobbled through Athens airport being told to hurry up did not help. However when we arrived puffing and panting at Gate 20 there was still a huge queue so there seemed little point in all the hurrying. Get to departure gate and told I had been upgraded to a seat in first class. All very well but I was travelling with my husband and son!. We had booked seats together weeks ago. Sitting in seat 1A after all this the final humiliation was I did not get offered any of the extras that the other business class passengers had which surely is not good customer relations. Air crew were good, flights were good but pay attention to the details please.. I travel abroad 3-4 times a year with budget and scheduled companies. You can do better.

Flew return London Gatwick to Athens without hassle on both journeys. It's a comparable airline to easyJet, maybe cheaper, except you get a complementary drink and small biscuit on board. I got what I expected and wasn't let down. I'd use the airline again.

No reaction after damage. Suitcase was damaged and properly complained about on arrival. There was a single email with an AI generated default response. After that, no one can be reached anymore and that is apparently the standard.
The customer service (does not deserve this name) can only be reached by e-mail. No phone number. Even the colleagues from the call center cannot connect to customer service. There is simply no reaction.
What I saved on the ticket, I now pay twice on top of the damage. In addition, wasted and annoyed time.

Keine Reaktion nach Schadenfall. Koffer wurde beschädigt und dies ordnungsgemäß bei Ankunft reklamiert. Es kam eine einzige E-Mail mit einer KI generierten Standard-Antwort. Danach ist niemand mehr erreichbar und das ist scheinbar der Standard.
Den Customer Service (hat diesen Namen nicht verdient) kann man nur per E-Mail erreichen. Keine Telefonnummer. Auch die Kollegen aus dem Callcenter können nicht zum Customer Service verbinden. Es erfolgt einfach keinerlei Reaktion.
Das, was ich am Ticket gespart habe, zahle ich jetzt doppelt drauf bei dem Schaden. Zusätzlich Zeit verschwendet und geärgert.

Damaged my bag, no compensation
When we landed I realised that my bag was damaged. I quickly went to the luggage desk and was told to send an email to some address. I did get a reply that asked if I wanted a refund to my bank account (which will take up to 9 weeks) or an immediate voucher. I chose the bank account and I never heard from them again. They’ve been ignoring all my follow up emails. When I try to call the airline, I’m told that baggage claims does not have a landline and they are only reachable through the email address that I have. I am thoroughly disappointed and will never fly with them again!
FRAUDSTERS, NO LUGGAGE LOADED, NO COMPENSATION
Flight from Naxos to Athens, September 2024, they use small planes and they don't load the luggage by system. Of course they don't disclose that information to the passengers who are shocked when they wait on baggage claim and their suitcases never arrive! One of them was myself on a long queue at their counter where I was told that my suitcase would arrive in Athens in 1-2 days!! I missed my flight to the UK, had to arrange accomodation in Athens and book a new flight ticket. When I made it home and complained via email around October they said they would compensate 60 Euros! Until today I have not seen a single cent in my account and they don't reply to my emails anymore. The same has happened to many other people as I read the reviews. STAY AWAY!!
Lost flight beeing checked in on time
Beeing delayed by another company, got passed security check on time with the ticket check before luggage sec check. Meaning the system show we are like a minute away from the gate, by the time we got to the gate (what is it 1-3minutes in venizelos airport?) I saw the doors closing the bus right outside of the gate with the passengers, but the ladies wouldnt open the system to put us in. I Understand its their right since 1-2 minutes deadline of boarding have passed but there was a delay on this flight too and what the hell they must know we are coming, since our tickets are shown electronically on the entrance before baggage. 3 flights lost bc of this. If all that is for a hope passengers will end up paying 250 euros for a 40m flight for another flight, we DIDNT.
Will try to avoid sky express since we dont have loads of alternatives.

Overall a bad airline in every aspect. I have used the airline many times in travels from Athens to Alexandroupoli and Paris. Understaffed with employees without proper training and skills. Very basic aircrafts with little to no amenities without the prices of other low cost airlines. The most frustrating thing for me is how they change their pricing when there is more demand for their trips. I have witnessed a single fare going from 78 euros to 250 euros in about 3 hours. Much worse than Aegean airlines and typically more expensive than Transavia or Wizz. would not recommend.

Few minutes before the Boarding operations, the lady came to us for Luggage Size Check, Not Even in a very nice way.
Are the rules just for someone they decided?
There were backpacks that were visibile bigger of what is allowed.
This was a very embarassing and unfair Treatment.
I have never had any problems with this luggage, also on the arrive fligh they allowed me to bring is;there is a very slithly difference of 2 cm, and I could put it Easily on the cabinet over the seats.
They were just saying:“It Doesn Not fit It does not fit the size“.
if you are Strictly then check everyone.
Also they were pretending we have to sit in the Emergency row not Even asking if it was ok, Like all the others fligh hostess ever did.
And telling us we Not Even have the Space above.
This is Not how your Operators should treat Clients.

The Point is that if you have soft luggage you press and fit anyway.

We flew with Sky Express from Warsaw to Athens on New year's day! The flight was on time, the service was impeccable and the staff (stewardesses) so kind, friendly and smiling! I am scared of flying and the support I got was untrue! I want to personally thank Theopisti Kirka and Michaela Tsatsaki for that! They are so professional, both!
