I expected them to take longer to…
I expected them to take longer to arrive but they were pretty swift getting to me through the post, which was a nice surprise, especially at this time when you want to get hold of masks asap. I really like the emails and website, because it adds a friendly dimension, a positive dimension, at a worrying time - let's face it, people wouldn't be ordering without a pandemic going on. I do wish there were more basic colours for the kids' masks, ie just a blue or a red rather than patterned. I think some kids, inc one of mine, would feel less self aware, particularly from a boy's perspective.

nose clip broke after a couple of…
nose clip broke after a couple of wears. reported this and they told me if was my fault for folding the mask. it came folded !! They also told me to unpick it and replace with another type of metal strip. I am not happy. wouldn't buy again.

Hi Trudi - thanks for your feedback. When you contacted us we responded immediately and shared transparently that several customers had also experienced the same issue and many of them reported folding/over-flexing the clip. We suggested a temporary solution to ensure you could keep on using the Smug in the short term by cutting a small opening to remove the broken clip and replace it - replicating the slit found in our newer Smugs to enable removal of the clip to avoid damage during machine washing and replacement of worn clips. We also said we would provide you with a coupon code to redeem for a new Smug. We are sorry that you are not happy with the solutions offered. Team Smug.

I have ordered from Smug twice (5 masks in total). Decent quality masks, although slightly expensive compared to others of similar quality from other providers. The children’s masks I ordered fitted well. The mask I ordered for my husband has shrunk in the wash, plus he said he found it difficult to breath through compared to other masks. I may order children’s masks from Smug again as they have some nice designs and the kids don’t seem to have any problems with them. I don’t think I would order further adult masks

Hi Michelle - thanks for purchasing Smugs! The cotton is washed at high temperature (70 degrees) prior to being made and should not be subject to any shrinkage - we are sorry to hear this. Playing with the toggles and nose clip to find the right fit may allow better airflow and avoid a partial vacuum. Smugs include VAT, and a donation to a UK foodbank - alongside an all ethical UK supply chain with makers paid the living wage and all materials sourced from UK business. This does impact cost but we are working hard to drive price down and pass savings on. Thanks for choosing us it is appreciated. Team Smug

Hi there - we are sorry the clip on your Smug has failed. I think we responded to your email immediately reiterating the clip has been tested extensively and has failed on a handful of occasions typically where the user has reported folding the Smug and unintentionally over flexing the clip which is only designed for slight movements and occasional adjustment. We offered a replacement of a newer Smug which includes a small opening such that wearers can remove and replace the clip easily. We also suggested a way to make the Smug usable in the short term . We're sorry for any disappointment caused.

High quality ethical masks.
Excellent offer on these high quality masks which are easily adjustable round the ears and fit snugly over the nose thanks to the hidden clip. Delivery was swift - and each mask came with a biodegradable bag to keep safe in a bag ready for use. I appreciate their use of organic materials and their vision for a sort of family run business.
