Really bad eBay policy demanding personal bank account registration.
eBay has changed it policy's & now requires you to enter "Personal" Bank Account details to have a valid account for refunds, eBay Plus membership & selling. In light of the current issues I am less inclined to put any personal details on any online forum particularly bank account details. eBay assured me at the beginning of August that it would not be a problem if I renewed my eBay plus membership so I paid the $48.99 subscription by VISA. Less than a week later they canceled the subscription & would not refund through VISA or PayPal, they insisted that I put in personal bank account details to get my refund despite it being paid through VISA. Many phone calls & chats later & they still insist that I give them personal bank account details. I will never do that. I only operate with a level of security between online purchases & my bank account so VISA, BPay or PayPal which has worked with eBay for the last 20 years. 20 Years & 10's of thousands of dollars of purchases & now I continually get messages to say my account is going to be suspended. eBay prices have been good & most problems in the past have been resolved but I have now given up on trying to get my subscription refund & when my account is suspended I will not try to reactivate I will buy from other sources that accept VISA or PayPal.
Scammers on eBay but can't complain.
I've been trying to buy a 100mm glass cutting angle online and whether its AliExpress, which has bad reviews, or others and whether on their own website or eBay the listed price jumps about 3 times when you click to buy. eBay is totally useless to complain because it has to be about an item bough or sold and eBay Australia has no phone number to call. Onlt a phone number if the USA which as a pensioner I'm not going to call. So eBay allows scammers to flourish and no provision to complain.
Refuses to look into fraud
Refuses to look into fraud. The fraudsters used Paypal as the payment processor but used my credit card so eBay claims they can't do anything even though I've given them the transaction ID for each transaction. I used to pay for eBay Plus as well and they still don't care.
BEWARE EBAY PLUS - IT'S A SCAM!
DO NOT TRUST EBAY PLUS CLAIMS THAT IT IS FREE! IT IS NOT FREE! There is no such free 30 trial period before you are required to pay membership.
That is a lie! They will charge you $49 immediately upon your first purchase. You will also not get the chance of paying membership monthly - that is another lie. Whatever information they provide you on the screen is a lie, their terms and conditions tell a different story completely. I was a loyal customer for over 15 years and then made the mistake of joining eBay Plus based on it appearing to be a good offer but they duped and lied to me. Unfortunately this is proof that they are an untrustworthy company, this is a warning to stay clear of this offer!
TERRIBLE customer service regarding suspended account
TERRIBLE customer service. I signed up to ebay with the aim of selling some unwanted items. I immediately received an email saying my account had been permanently suspended (before I had even got to the stage of listing anything). I had an online chat with their customer service guy called Adrian who asked me what I wanted to sell (a football jersey) and then told me my suspension would be upheld. When I asked why, when I hadn’t even listed anything yet, he refused to answer apparently in case I tried to find a way around their security features (his words) and then Adrian promptly left the chat without allowing me to ask further questions about what the hell that means. I then tried to close my account and have my personal data deleted but kept getting an error message saying I had to contact ebay directly. Back on the chat I went and was passed around multiple people before I finally got someone to confirm that they would delete my account and personal information.
Absolutely ridiculous waste of time and still none the wiser about why my account was permanently suspended. Terrible customer service and will never be using ebay again for buying or selling.
SELLERS stay away.
I've been trying to set up a seller account. I've been doing e-commerce since 3 years and never seen such a rude way without any explanation to suspend an account. Ebay staff does not care about you and the customer service is one of the worst I've ever seen. They were unable to give me any VALID reason why my account was suspended which tells a lot on the quality of the service. I definitely will stay on their competitor marketplaces where sellers are been considered.
Ebay for : "rch-collection"
Ebay for : "rch-collection"
Do not buy from this seller on Ebay as they are not interested if you get your order or not as long as they can take your money!
I have tried to get Ebay's assistance in this matter, but the URL link they requested I use to take the matter further did not work. Now I am going to be out of pocket by over $35. It may not seem a lot to some people, but to me, on only $300 p/w for food, rent +++ it is exorbitant and a total waste of money.
I will never sell on ebay again
I will never sell on ebay again. The atrocious fees ebay and paypal throw at you just does not make sense. The last item I sent internationally the payment was withheld due to an untruthful customer complaint and I had to jump through so many hoops to prove the item/tracking number was sent and the item did in fact reach said customer. If you take into account the amount of time it took to correspond with the customer, post the item, communicate with ebays poor customer support structure, finally receive the paymant and then have the ludicrous fees thrown at me from ebay and paypal it just isn't worth it. Hours of effort for a $30 sale, what's the point! Buying isn't too bad yet though but I now feel for the sellers.
Why are they still in business?
Why are they still in business? I sold a product to the highest bidder who agreed to pay postage. EBay then charged both of us for postage and claimed it was all my fault. After speaking to a customer service representative on line for several hours, l got nowhere. He talked in circles, couldn’t or wouldn’t understand the issue then finally said it was resolved. I stated it hadn’t been resolved but he disconnected the conversation. This is obviously double dipping by EBay and would make them countless extra dollars. In addition they charged me 12.2% fee rate instead of the 11.8% fee rate cited in their policy. As many others have had similar issues, why are they allowed to get away with fraudulent practices? Or do our Fair Trading Authorities have no power? If l could give them a negative rating, l would.
Ripped off
Ripped off. I would give them no star if I could. I purchased one item for $176.72. Ebay took the money out of my account twice. I never received the item or refunded the amount of $353.44. So disappointed in Ebay, I will never purchase anything from Ebay ever again.
The fees are getting ridiculous
The fees are getting ridiculous! Paypal is also terrible!!!
Heartless money driven scumbags
Absolutely horrible experience. Sold the same item via auction multiple times as the buyers did not pay once winning the bid. Decided to list the same item as "Buy It Now" and accepted an offer for much less than I had hoped for. Once I sold the item, eBay slogged me a MASSIVE fee which left me way out of pocket. I was absolutely shocked that a service such as eBay can charge these sort of fees. Absolutely disgraceful.
I hunted everywhere to try and find a customer service email address and finally managed to contact eBay. The response I received was absolutely careless. The fees are hidden when selling an item and then eBay will slog you and get away with it. They are heartless, money driven thieves without a care in the world for their users.
I have spent over $100,000 on eBay over the years as a buyer and I will most likely never buy from eBay again if I can avoid it. eBay is a joke with many scam sellers and buyers, but they won't help or take any responsibility. AVOID IF YOU CAN!! Especially as a seller!
Good but sometimes expensive
Ebay is a good website to use when you are looking for products; they have a diverse range of products and you are likely to find what you're looking for albeit sometimes really expensive. With my past orders I've never had much trouble with ordering and shipping so Ebay is one of my go-to sites if I can't get the product. However, be mindful of the sometimes ridiculously expensive items (particularly from the make up sections) that would cost less on other websites. Ebay gives you all the information that you need on the product page (shipping cost, item cost, seller page link, estimate arrival date, description etc) so it was one advantage of using their website.
Edit: Ebay has no hidden fees at all and they give you an approximate total amount to pay on the same page as the item, which I thought was really helpful. However, in terms of cosmetics products, Ebay would definitely be my last resort. The sellers on Ebay sometimes do definitely inflate the prices of some make up items making it almost unaffordable. There is a private messaging system, tracking system but unlike Poshmark, Depop or Carousell, offers are only given when the seller allows offers.
Wow this is unbelievable the negative…
Wow this is unbelievable the negative feedback wish I had knowed about the poor reviews I am in your boat people negative thieves don't want to know when something goes wrong
Try not to buy anything from eBay
Try not to buy anything from eBay, there policy are worded that you don't have a chance of getting help or refund. My issue was an item which they dragged over 3 months to the point eBay offer a $5 discount to compensate, but when you chase up your purchases, the seller don't want to know about you and say your item number doesn't exist and you try to contact eBay and you get an instant NO. No help, no assistance, no everything. Appeal the decision and it's still a no. It's rubbish spending money on eBay, it's happened twice now so no more, I'm cancelling the account and warning others now.
Im a buyer since 2006 and more active…
Im a buyer since 2006 and more active in the past 4 years. At the begging eBay was good but nowadays its not worth the time anymore.
Its full of junk products and the only think eBay cares is fees and profit. Consumer is no longer a priority and sellers with 2000 items in their store are not even Australian but you can see the Australian flags and many times the phrase local or Australian local on their product to deceive the consumer.
You purchase an item on Saturday night and few minutes later you already have your track number. How good or terrible is that ? After couple of days no updates then you decided to call Australian post and you find out they have not even received the item.
Such a delusion approach from sellers to pretend that you will receive your item very quick but in fact you won't. This is all BS but is this to have high KPI to have a product listed first ? eBay won't act on consumer side as a track number has been provided but is it fair to lie about shipment time frames and post item when no one even confirm stock? anyway after a week no updates and you call again Australian Post to confirm again the same thing not even received the parcel .. it cannot be processed in the aupost facilities so no further updates. Couple of day overdue the delivery and you contact the seller which replies " Friend please wait because of Covid-19 your parcel will be delayed. " you contact again auspost and they cannot confirm that none of its facility closed due to covid recently. You contact the seller and still cannot have any action from eBay at this stage. Case has been open and who cares about you consumer ? the seller drag this on and on and eBay gives enough space to the seller do whatever without do anything. I'm still waiting for a replacement motherboard for over 3 months and eBay has done nothing.
eBay's seller that uses funny names followed by numbers with hundreads of items are no legit Australian sellers. They are chineses off loading a load of low quality products that doesn't meet Australian Standards and those goods are overpriced.
If you have experienced this type of issue you can agree that its cheaper to buy from Alibaba than eBay as at least you know from who you are buying (chinese seller) and always remember its not possible to have the cheapest with high quality.
I'm leaving eBay due to the fact that eBay cannot be trusted to act in the best interest of the consumers but only on its own interest to make money above all.
SHAME ON YOU EBAY.
Disgusted
Especially agree that eBay sells counterfeit goods !...and when I have phoned and told Customer Service about items that are for sale that are obviously fake I have given them the reasons to look in the photos to see, I've been assured that they will look into it and a week later the item is sold in auction... However as a seller they are also a nightmare, every single customer service agent tells a different story... I've just been charged 20% on a sale of a bag which I was told was because I had "below average seller performance"when I had questioned that 2 weeks before... Was told not to worry that I was now "above average seller performance" and there would be no penalty... So I listed and sold my bag (usually charged 14% for luxury item sale but this time I was charged 20% as a penalty). .. And I called Customer Service after being put through to 4 different people I was finally told nothing they could do about it and sales would go back to normal in three weeks time but I would not be refunded.... I have ended all my listings with this criminal organisation and the bunch of incompetents that work for them
Wish I had of read these reviews years…
Wish I had of read these reviews years ago. Like everyone else, totally screwed over by a non-existent claims department. Bought an ice machine in October, arrived late November, claims window closed December, ice machine breaks down January.
No response from seller, nothing but a run around from ebay and not a care from anyone. Will never buy from ebay again. Disgraceful. Pretty sure the best course of action from here is to make a complaint to the ACCC.
Ebay Au just protecting bad sellers
Ebay Au just interested in protecting their 'partner sellers' to keep fees rolling in. No duty of care when a buyer gets blatantly lied to after a clever seller bumps things beyond 30 days.... Their resolution team simply doesn't exist !!! Seller trading under "direct-trade-to-you" is perfect example !
If I could give negative stars I would
If I could give negative stars I would
These people let you set up and account and go to the trouble of listing all your items and then restrict it so you can’t sell. Then they charge you all these fees to try and just use your account. Such a con. Use Facebook market place it’s so much easier
