Stressful car rental
Hi
I am writing to make a formal complaint regarding my car rental reservation 1753824042, booked through StressFreeCarRental for collection at Manchester Airport.
When I arrived at the Surprice rental location to collect the vehicle, I was informed by your staff that they did not trust or recognise StressFreeCarRental and questioned how the vehicle could have been offered to me at the price I had already paid/agreed online.
Instead of honouring my confirmed reservation and agreed price, your staff offered me the car for approximately £450, which was more than double the price agreed at the time of booking.
I found this behaviour extremely concerning and unacceptable. I had already made my travel arrangements based on the confirmed rental price, and this unexpected refusal left me with no practical alternative at the last minute. As a result, I had to pay additional taxi costs to reach my destination.
I expect Surprice Car Rental to explain why my confirmed reservation and agreed price were not honoured. I also request reimbursement for the additional costs I incurred as a direct result of your company refusing to provide the vehicle under the agreed booking terms.
This experience has caused significant inconvenience, additional expense and considerable frustration. The conduct I experienced gave me the impression that the advertised booking price was not being honoured and that customers were being pressured into paying substantially more at the point of collection.
Please investigate this matter urgently and provide a written response, including details of how you intend to compensate me for the additional costs and inconvenience caused.
I have retained the booking confirmation and relevant documentation and can provide these as evidence.
I look forward to your prompt response.

Your rental agreement is directly with the supplier — in this case, SurPrice Car Rentals — who are responsible for the collection process and any charges applied at their desk.

Your booking was for a "Mazda CX5 Automatic or similar" — this wording means Carwiz guarantee a vehicle in the same category (size, transmission, and specification), but not the exact make or model shown. Substituting a different manufacturer within the same category is standard practice across the car rental industry and is confirmed on your booking voucher.
If you feel the vehicle you received was actually a smaller or lower category than booked, rather than just a different make within the same category, please send us your rental agreement at help@stressfreecarrental.com and we'll be happy to check this against your booking.
