Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 197 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. People frequently struggled with poor customer support, finding representatives unhelpful, dismissive, and communication extremely difficult across multiple channels. Consumers also reported major problems with delivery delays, missing items, unfulfilled orders, and incorrect products arriving unexpectedly at their homes. However, some customers also noted that certain store staff members provided extremely helpful, friendly, and polite service during visits. A few other people also felt that specific home deliveries and appliance purchases went smoothly with professional couriers. These positive encounters offered a pleasant exception to the widespread difficulties reported by most shoppers.

If I could leave zero I would

If I could leave zero I would, we ordered a fridge freezer for delivery and took the day of work.We got a text message to say it would be delivered in the next 60 minutes so emptied the old one and got it outside for removal only to then get another message saying delivery had been cancelled. After waiting for the call centre to open we phoned them and it was confirmed it had been cancelled and the next slot would be in a week so another day of work. The reason for cancellation was the van was to full well I’m sorry you knew a week ago about this delivery to cancel the delivery of a fridge freezer one hour before delivery is totally unacceptable.

Would give a ZERO if an option.

Would give a ZERO if an option.
Moved house on the 30th Jan 26, ordered sofa, footstool, king size bed, dining room table and chairs 6+ weeks in advance to be delivered between 10-2 saturday 31st Jan. I live in a town centre with a large loading bay directly infront of my property. I watched the Argos van pull up and within seconds drove off and reported that they couldnt deliver because of traffic! called “customer services” and they apologises, put me on hold whilst they spoke to the scheduler to see what was going on. They could do nothing about the failed delivery but could offer me another date of the 4th Feb. I had to be back at work, i said that was no good. The lady i spoke to said she will call be back within the hour to update me with a resolution. She didn’t. called back, same scenario, put on hold countless times. Asked to speak to a manager. Without hesitation so told me that all managers were on other calls (why aren’t i surprised!) the lady assured me that it is managers policy to call me back within 24 HOURS!! Low and behold, i waited the 24 hours and no call! so, i called back again. you guessed it, same scenario. The lady said that i have now lost my suggested slot of the 4th of Feb but they can now offer the 20th. I cancelled my order. Funnily enough, that was instant! I then got a txt confirmation of the cancellation with the refund anount due in 5 days. The refund amount was £186 short. I phoned them again, same scenario, was put on hold for another 35 mins. The lady came back to me saying that the reason the refund was short was because they have now “double discounted” one of the products that i paid full price for. ABSOLUTELY NOT! i have paid full price for an unfulfilled order and failed delivery. She wasn't going to refund the delivery charge either. Without being sarcastic i reminded the lady that the goods were not delivered despite the fact that i saw the Argos van pull up. I was put on hold again for a further 10 minutes (looking forward to my phone bill, approx 3 hrs on the phone to a premium number) she confirmed that they will refund the difference within 5 working days. I asked for a text confirmation for which she said she was unable to and if i don’t have the difference + the outstanding £2k refunded within 5 working days to call back! I would not even buy a saucepan from Argos and they have a store for my convenience on my high street. ARGOS is no longer the reputable company it once was. Such a shame. Please, and this is only my advice. Please do not order anything that you will desperate to receive and plan your day around. I have no sofa, no bed and no dining room table. Not the best start for a woman starting on her own.

Wrong fridge freezer delivered.

Argos delivered the wrong fridge/freezer to my flat. The white delivery sticker had the correct details (Fridgemaster) but was attached to a BUSH labelled appliance! Stupidity or illiteracy? It took Argos a week to rectify their mistake. I am an old bloke and had to ask my daughter to help me repackage the BUSH. She had to find someone to babysit her child. I explained this in my review to Argos but received no response. Argos? Never again.

Ordered a Garmin watch which was in…

Ordered a Garmin watch which was in stock at £199
Delivery confirmed for 3days later store collection.
On the day of collecting email saying item not despatched and to wait for confirmation.
Checked in store and got no information
Phoned three times to try to get delivery update- nothing
Then noticed price of item in store had increased by £100 and was showing in stock
Again no update from Argos
Tried to complain and only to be told
I can get refund once collection end date is reached which it g one week after the original delivery date..
Think very carefully before using this once great company 👎

Order cancelled for no reason by Argos

On message told me to reorder which I did virtually straight away.
Now showing two items for delivery by Yodel not sure if I’m getting two of that item or it’s in two parts cause there’s no way of checking the tracking number against the order. I phoned up and they tried to reassure me that the other order was cancelled due to stock shortages which is strange when I managed to re-order it again straight away. Hopefully, I won’t get two of the same item. you used to be really good Argos what’s going on?

Consumer Rights

Lack of response to email regarding an item that broke just outside Argus warranty but still covered by consumer rights Act
The Act states responsibility is with the retailer and not manufacturer.
Very disappointed that there response was no response !

Nectar points not added

Today evening @about 19:45 I booked a water filter on the in store tab at WembleyCentral. I paid the black guy on till £25cash. While I was waiting for chage I reminded him that I had a necter card. He said it is too late. Then I told him that he never asked me if I had one. That made me upset and asked for my money back. He was quick to return my money. But wasn't able to help me. I asked for the manager. I got to know from one of the staff that he himself is the manager. No apologies. I told the staff the lady staff that they have the best manager. Good Luck. He is not fit for the manager's job.

Terrible service in every way. Stick to Amazon

I ordered some a TV on 26th December for guaranteed delivery 29th December.

It was a signed for delivery which never arrived despite me waiting in for half a day.

They stated goods were delivered when they were not and there was no Proof of delivery.

I was told a solution would be advised within 48 working hours.

I chased after 48 working hours and was told exactly the same.

6th Jan I chased on the phone and have now been told its 5 working days for a response.

I have no TV and am £329 down.

Terrible service. I work in business and would have sorted this out immediately on the basis there is no proof of delivery.

Call centre was foreign also so impossible to clearly understand what they are saying.

I will be sticking to Amazon in future. Argos is an outdated business struggling to compete with serious retailers

Disgusting service

My delivery was 7 minutes away and the my order cancelled, no explanation. I phoned Sy at customer service and she said my refund will take 5-7 working days and my order wasn’t loaded onto the van so it was cancelled. Then when I asked to speak to a manager she kept my hanging for 30 minutes and then said no ones available and hung up. I’m disgusted. So you’ve had my money from 1st January to 14th January and there’s nothing I can do about it. It may as well be just for toys as nothing else gets delivered. What about taking care of your customers.

Urgent Report of Alleged Employee Misconduct

Dear Argos HR Department / Corporate Office,

I am writing to raise serious concerns regarding an employee at the Argos store located in Lion Retail Park, Woking, Surrey.

Employee Information

• Name: Mrs. Safina Ahmed (also referred to as Mrs. Samina Ahmed)

• Position: Team Leader / Supervisor

• Employment Start Date: 1997

Allegations

It has come to my attention that Mrs. Ahmed may be misusing her employee discount card by providing discounts to individuals who are not relatives and do not reside with her, which is contrary to company policy.

Additionally, she is allegedly supplying new technological products such as laptops and iPads to individuals waiting outside the store, particularly during times when store managers are on their breaks.

Actions Requested

• Investigate Employee Records: Review Mrs. Ahmed’s transaction history and discount usage over the past 26 years.

• Review CCTV Footage: Examine surveillance footage to verify her activities during managers’ break periods.

• Take Appropriate Action: If the allegations are substantiated, implement strict disciplinary measures to protect the company’s financial interests and reputation.

Impact

These alleged actions could result in significant financial losses and reputational damage to Argos. It is therefore essential that this matter be investigated promptly and thoroughly.

Additional Information

For any further details or clarification, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for your attention to this serious matter.

no delivery no refund

I ordered a Bluetooth speaker costing £99.95 on the 18th of December as a Christmas present. I was told to collect it from my local Sainsbury’s Argos in Bridgnorth and went there on the 22nd, only to be told it was not there. I was then told it may have gone back.

I was assured it would not be delivered on the 23rd but would arrive before Christmas Day. I was also told that if it did not arrive by the 27th, I would automatically receive a refund. This was completely pointless, as the item was intended for Christmas.

After a very frustrating and unhelpful chat with the automated bot, I spoke to an online assistant who could not tell me whether I would receive the item or not. I then phoned the Argos helpline, where the adviser also could not confirm whether it would arrive before Christmas. I was told I could do a 40-mile round trip to another Argos store to buy one — but I would have to pay another £99.99 upfront.

I asked for a refund immediately, as it was clear the item would not arrive in time. I was told this was not possible and that I had to wait until the 27th if it was not delivered.

Here we are on the 31st of December: no email, no update, and no refund. After another 15 minutes of online chat, I was finally told I would receive a refund within 48 hours. Had I not chased this repeatedly, I am convinced I would never have received a refund at all.

Overall, the customer service was dreadful, inconsistent, and deeply frustrating. I was repeatedly fobbed off, given conflicting information, and left to chase a refund that should have been automatic.

Won't exchange item

Called in middlesbrough argos to exchange a Christmas present as it was wrong size it was a samsung watch my husband bought it for Christmas and he got a 44mm instead of a 40mm so it was far to big for my wrist, so we took it back for an exchange it had not been worn box was opened i saw the size of it and knew straight away it was massive, they would not change it at all more or less said it was our fault and deal with it so will be taking it further now this is not acceptable at all crap customer service not willing to help the watch was over 300 pounds as well so not cheap so we stuck with a watch I can't wear as too big if I bought a dress too big it would be exchanged for a size that fits no difference not happy with argos at all see what happens when I take it further

I Placed an order on the 20th December…

I Placed an order on the 20th December 2025 and asked for delivery on the 23rd December 2025 2pm to 9pm. On the 23rd I had no email for a delivery time my status had not changed to dispatched but track my order showed delivery 2 to 9pm. No delivery was made. I Received an email at 1.50am on the 24th to say my order would be delivered on the 23rd December at 2.50pm to 5.50pm. I also had a text sent on the 24th at 6.45am stating the same as the email. I rang Argos to see if it should read 24th but was told my order wasn't delivered as the driver ran out of time. Funny when my timeslot was 2pm to 9pm and delivery was for 2.50 to 5.50. The next delivery date was the 26th december as the 24th was fully booked. So someone who asked for delivery after me would get their delivery before me. Totally unacceptable and unbelievable. I have lost all faith in Argos and will not shop with them again. I received an email for delivery on the 26th 7.04am to 9.04 am when the item hadn't been delivered at 3pm I once again rang Argos who said the item was attempted to be delivered at 2.40pm but the driver couldn't find my address. I can't believe a company as big as Argos doesn't have sat nav. Unbelievable. I have now arranged delivery for 27th 2pm to 9pm then if not delivered I will cancel and request a refund as I refuse to go through this process again. However if the refund process is like the delivery one I am dreading it. I usually shop on Amazon but thought as this is an expensive item I would shop with Argos but lesson learned. Either go to the store where you are your own delivery driver or don't bother with em.

Purchased Hoover Dishwasher 23 November…

Purchased Hoover Dishwasher 23 November 25, first delivery was booked and then cancelled two days prior to delivery. Rebooked and received delivery 11 December delivery guys took out my dishwasher and tried to install new one but it was broken (the third machine that week that had the same defect) they took my Bosch machine and faulty dishwasher away leaving me with no usable sink as couldn't get a cap for the ubend. Rebooked new replacement for delivery 18th December but that got cancelled and only option was 30 December and still no sink. Ended up telling them to cancel as it was clearly no ones fault but mine. However they are now taking 30 days to refund my money as they need to investigate..... SOOOO they have my machine, they have me MONEY and are keeping for the next 30 days and I have no sink for Christmas.... Tried to recover my money through Paypal but Argos Team are still saying they need 30 days to investigate.... not sure it takes 30 days to confirm they did not leave a faulty dishwasher at my property..... absolutely pathetic and to top if off they offered me a £50 voucher off any of their stores.... Of course I would love a voucher to spend on faulty products that do not get delivered and installed on time
