I can't think of specific things about Avast, and I think the reason is that Avast works without attention. There are options that pop up occasionally, and the user can participate or not. But other than that, the software works quietly and as intended, without glitches or frequent input.

A pop-up promotion for paid services forced me to turn on a pop-up blocker

I assume it did what it was designed to do, but it didn't do what I expected it to do. I signed up for what I thought was a complete suite of computer maintenance services --- but everytime I opened up my computer, Avast was trying to upsell me on more and more stuff -- it was like I had bought only an invitation to buy more. Plus, every day brought more and more pop up ads and notices from Avast. It was so annoying that I let my license lapse without renewing, thinking that would finally give me some peace. But no ---- now I am flooded with daily reminders to renew before my computer crashes and burns. I just want to know how to completely rid myself of Avast and its eternal notices and pop-ups.

I've been with Avast since 2008, and I'm still a satisfied customer. Currently using Premium Security along with Anti Track, SecureLine VPN, and Cleanup. What keeps me coming back? They don't bombard me with annoying pop-ups trying to push driver updaters or unnecessary add-ons like some other security software does. The protection is solid, the tools actually work, and they respect my choice of what I want installed. After nearly 17 years, that says something. The suite does exactly what I need - keeps my system secure and clean without being intrusive. If you want reliable protection without the constant upselling, Avast delivers.

I get all these pop-ups about how vulnerable my email, name, SS# is. I buy a program thru Avast and it says I can't install it as I already have it. Why do you keep pushing more stuff on me that I don't need?

The pop-ups are a pain. As far as I know it is working without issue so that is great. This was not a trial and is still working after a year so.

I hate AVAST and no longer want ANY of my subscriptions to renew. I think there are 3 subscriptions. I don't want to receive any emails telling me they are going to renew either! As far as I am concerned, all subscriptions can be cancelled NOW. I HATE all the pop-up messages. I don't care if there is no refund, I just don't want anything to do with avast anymore-no more emails either!

The Avast antivirus is very user friendly, once in a while they do offer premium services at a very discounted price that come in very handy. Does not constantly pop up, interrupting my work, in comparison to another antivirus, I've used.
The antivirus itself does not cause my laptop which doesn't have very good specs, to lag.
I have used their free version and sometimes for paid version and I can say Avast is really good and that's why I used it for more than 5 years.

Constant interruptions and pop-ups even when no notifications is activated. Drives me nuts

Have been totally satisfied with the app till November update when its window started popping up during other apps and tasks. Even when on silent mode. Closing or minimizing, disabling notifications - does not work, it keeps reappearing after 3-4 minutes. Honestly, feels like it behaves like some virus now.

Way too invasive. Pop-ups are distracting and relentless. Does not make me want to upgrade rather the opposite. The service it's self; great. The advertising and insistence of fear based warnings goes beyond annoying.

I have been using Avast for well over a decade, never had problem. But am about to start looking for a different one as a pop up window with "silent mode is on" every 30 min or so is driving me nuts. Yes, it is on, and I have no intentions to turn it off. Yes, all notifications are off in the settings. That started this week but hellishly annoying.

Your constant, intrusive pop-ups urging the user to add another expensive piece of your pie is exactly the reason I left McAfee for your product.

I would guess, Avast has a great Antivirus. And a lot of great add-ons... but there is the problem. You do get noticed "Here, this isn't good, you need to act... oh, seems you don't have add-on 100x, well you can get that for cheap as well, as you did with the previous 99, we offer it cheaply now, but don't look at the total, please?"... They should have an easier to see comparision for what they could add and what it would cost, so you take your package and don't get bothered all the time... and feel bad if you add something and then the next add-on appears, which is close to the previous, but not included... -.-u

great free version of antivirus app, i get pop up windows warning about bad websites before entering them. update driver feature is helpful. articles about scams and computer safety is good.

POP UPS CONSTANTLY!!!!!!
I'll be in the middle of typing a very important document and interrupted by a pop up that I have to close. Every day. I'm done with Avast.

I am not that technologically sophisticated, but I assume a vast did the job I downloaded it to do. But ultimately, I canceled Avast because it was so damn intrusive— there were constant pop-up messages either reporting on what it was allegedly doing, what it thought it ought to do, or how I should upgrade to some other package. It was so annoying I decided it didn’t matter how good it was, I was getting rid of it. And so I did

This company retains your credit information on file for renewing a subscription which is illegal. I did not want the product in the first place, didn't ask for it to be renewed and yet I am being billed repeatedly even though I have repeatedly attempted to request a refund. The refund mechanism on the website is a joke. If there's no customer support only ridiculous links ,continuous loops which lead you nowhere. You cannot speak with a person online when you don't have telephone access. I hate being cheated and I believe this company is not only breaking the law but deceiving customers. The product is not exceptional and the continuous POP UPS drive you crazy. I've had enough of this company and I want my refund.

I don't like that Avast constantly wants to clean the disk. Sometimes it does twice in a day. It warns that it will delete something, but doesn't guarantee that what is cleaned won't affect the performance of the computer or peripherals.
I also dislike it when it says some programs are not being used and can be deleted to speed up the PC, and then it goes to the list of suspended programs that are used, but more rarely. It doesn't make it clear whether "deleted" means "deleted from the computer" or simply removed from the Start menu. In short, for someone like me, who isn't in the computer industry, it's extremely difficult to make some decisions, especially when it comes to cleaning, deleting, or uninstalling programs.
I miss the days when Avast had a phone number in England, with a representative who spoke Portuguese and clearly explained questions.
I also don't know what is meant by confidential documents, because nothing I have that it flags is confidential, and it keeps showing pop-ups to alert me to my "critical" status. It would just be to "push" me into another software. I also miss the days when I could choose which folders to scan or have my computer run a general scan instead of a "smart" scan, which I'm not sure what that means. Worst of all: having a website entirely in English.
