I would not recommend this company.

I called at around 10:30 am after accidentally locking myself out. I was told an engineer would arrive within 30 minutes. After waiting for an hour, I called again and was told 20 more minutes. Then it became 15 minutes, then 10 minutes. In the end, the engineer didn’t arrive until around 1:00 pm.

During the initial phone call, I was quoted £50 + VAT for the service, and I agreed based on that price. However, when the engineer arrived, I was told the actual charge would be £89 + VAT if the door could be opened with plastic, or £124 + VAT if drilling was required. At that point, I had already been waiting for hours and had little choice but to accept the new price.

The engineer did open the door without causing any damage, but I feel the quoted price and the actual price were completely different, and the promised arrival time was also not respected.

Be very careful. I would not rely on this company for either the quoted price or the estimated arrival time. Make sure you get the full price in writing before agreeing to any work.

The problem with bookalocallocksmith is that when you go on to this site looking for a locksmith in your area, they display details of a locksmith that is purportedly in your local town, or covering it. In my case it was Sittingbourne (Kent) area, and it gave details of a ‘local’ locksmith, stating ‘Call your Sittingbourne based locksmith now’. The local landline number (which doesn’t seem to ever get answered) is 01795 227794 and a mobile No of 07368 842846. This mobile number actually belongs to a company called LGSD Ltd, and they are shysters. LGSD is also linked to a company called General Services, also Shysters.
My friend lost the front door key, and called these shysters who stated on a mobile phone call that is would cost £49 to unlock the door, or £110 if a new lock was needed. As it happened they charged £405.60. It was not until the invoice was supplied that the details of the company became clear.
I made contact with the Master Locksmiths association and they confirmed that this is an overcharging practice. After making further enquiries online, it appears there are a lot of people who have been overcharged by these shysters using the company name of LGSD and General Services.

On some of the reviews, book-a-locallockmith.co.uk are stating that they are not responsible, and other companies are responsible. I don’t know how, but that is what they are saying.
Big learning curve. Go to Master Locksmiths Association website, and they will provide details of genuine (Non shyster) locksmiths in or near your area.

I booked a locksmith via this organisation to deal with a faulty conservatory lock. I was quoted £49 if it was straightforward. He arrived within an hour as promised. The work took about 20/25minutes and the bill was £202! So I was misled by the Trustpilot rating for book a local locksmith. The company that did the job was BS Security MaintenanceLtd .

We were house sitting for our friends and the gate lock broken from a guest in their air BnB. Your team were extremely helpful, quick to respond and kept me informed nothing was an issue, payment was easy as forwarded the payment link to my difenda to settle up- thanks Tristan

Very expensive and rushed job as they said they have one more appointment, so whats the point of pre-booking. I was told it will cost 59£ for labour to which I said ok, and was given the option of choosing from 85£ and 150£ lock. I said 85£ as we plan to renovate and anyway the door will be replaced in few weeks time. But they decided to put £150. Overall it became more than I initially planned for, over the call they always say lock prices start from £29 and on-site you were not given any such options. For less than 5m job it turned out to be expensive one and that too they charge VAT on top of it, even on the price of the lock.

We had these guys over to change locks at our new house, they turned up on time and upgraded all our locks for our insurance requirements and peace of mind, thanks very much to glen who attended Saturday

My Mrs lost all her keys after a night out and we didn’t want to risk not changing the locks, Billy came out that evening and changed the front and back door locks for us, only for the keys to turn up Monday, not his fault I know but not a risk we wanted to take, cheers Billy

Scammed and Blocked Me!

I contacted this provider to unlock my door after leaving my keys inside. Their initial response included a personalised note from Chris that seemed trustworthy, but the experience was the opposite.

They sent a "specialist" who charged me £520 for a job that should have cost no more than £150. He claimed he couldn’t open the lock (a standard Yale lock), so he "had to" break it and replace it. Afterward, I checked their website and discovered I was charged three times the advertised price! (£69 (advertised) vs £189 (charged) to break in)

Upon further research, I found reviews on Trustpilot linking this "specialist" (operating under their own Ltd company) to similar scams targeting others, i.e. forcing them to break the lock and change it while it could be simply unlocked. It also appears that he has been reported to Trading Standards multiple times so it is beyond me how he still operates

Now, the provider (book-a-locallocksmith.co.uk) blocked my phone number and refuse to answer calls or provide an invoice.

I’ll be reporting this to Trading Standards to ensure no one else falls victim to this fraud.

Andy was really responsive and got on to the job quickly. We liaised on WhatsApp and he took out the old broken lock, made the door safe and fitted a replacement in a few days. It was an old PVC front door so he had to source the right mech and went back on a Saturday evening to complete the job. I would highly recommend him, Thanks very much, Colin

Thank you soooo much for saving me this morning, got locked out in my dressing gown and had to google these people, got to me in no time at all as I guess it was very early, brilliant service 🙂

I called them out at 6am ish this morning as someone had attempted to break in via the back door, luckily they were unsuccessful in their attempt but we have decided to bolster the security on that door due to it being a fairly flimsy lock, Nathan has put a new insurance approved lock on the door now so we have a lot more secure lock and a bit more peace of mind, kind regards and thanks for the prompt service, Tom & Family

Been scammed by this company recently?
Like most people in these reviews, myself and my husband got scammed by this company recently.

Heavily pregnant they took advantage and forced my husband to pay over £1k to put the door back together otherwise they were leaving us without a door. It was only supposed to be a simple lock change costing around £200!

Obviously, if you’re looking for a locksmith, don’t use this company.

Also- I have checked that the website for this company is 100% the one we booked through and I have a scribbled unitemised VAT receipt they gave us to force us to pay that I’m happy to share.

Have sent an email through their complaints page and only offered £120 back on a £1,193 for a lock change which is laughable.

EDIT in their response to this review they gave a fake email to contact! info@book-a-locallocksmiths doesn’t exist and I have all the proof I need to report to trading standards.

I am so grateful to these guys for being a lifesaver.. lost my spare house key and my main snapped in the lock when I came back from work at 10.30pm phoned this company and he told me it would be 20-30 minutes to get to my location and got me inside the house in less than half hour. thank you thank you thank you so much, true 24/7 service 5 stars rating . I will call again for any locksmithing issues

External door lock kept sticking so booked someone to come check it out and try fix the problem/replace the lock if need be. Guy was very nice and sorted the issue out but the price was eye watering. I was expecting £200-300 but not £1194 and felt obligated to pay it as he’d already started taking the door apart. Needed someone out to sort today so beggars can’t be choosers but I’d recommend other customers doing their research as I feel a bit conned!

Doesn’t even deserve a star!! Rip off merchants. Told £100 appointment booked. Charged £160 to be paid into chaps personal account to avoid VAT. Complained to company then locksmith phoned & started to verbally harass me. His name is Ilie Stanciu. Complained again. No phone call as promised from Manager.
