I used my Capital One card for the card company support.
I bought a reverse osmosis system from Chrytal Quest Water.
I had it installed and the pump did not work for three weeks Crystal Quest refused to send out replacement parts I proved this with Capital One and I still lost the dispute. What are we supposed to do as consumers when a big company stands behind each other regardless? I should have used a Discover card.

Poor loyality to long term Discover Credit Card customer

I have carried a Discover Credit Card for over 35 years. I have never been late making a payment and I always pay the full bill. Last month Discover did not receive my payment and it was sent out on time. I called to ask about the failed payment. No adjustments to the penalties, just directed to pay the bill again and cancel the previsous check. They allow approximately 24 days from end of billing cycle to payment due, with approximately 12 day before customer recieves the bill. Discover has made no adjusts for slower mail service. They expect everyone to do electronic transactions. If they are so set on electronic transaction why don't they provide an account for me to deposit the funds in. They want the customer to take all the risks.

The erosion of purchase protection means YOU are liable for 100%

I've had Discover since 2009, and I've generally been satisfied with responsive customer service and a good mobile app.

However, recently I ran into a situation where I had a subscription service for wine from a local shop. The shop went out of business but continued to charge my card. I haven't received any wine in two and a half years, but Discover says they're finding in favor of the merchant because I can't provide any documentation of the purchase.

This works out to approximately $840 that I have to eat, and I can't get that money back. The CSR told me I should get a lawyer if I don't like it.

Absolutely unacceptable. But it's not the first time it happened. In 2017, I had a bike that was stolen from my house, and I filed a purchase protection claim (back when they had it). Discover claimed that because I couldn't prove that the bicycle was a NEW bicycle, that they wouldn't honor the claim. I have no clue what the rationale here is, but it's pretty awful.

Bad customer service- No Purchase Protection

Made an online purchase through Honey Playbox for $76 and the merchant had the wrong bill to and ship to address (bill to and ship to were same address and wrong). I made several disputes through discover and after 4 months they denied and charged back the amount for an item I never received. They said I needed to prove that I put in the correct address. I told them we never received confirmation until after dispute was opened and asked how it went through in the first place when they didn’t have the right bill to address to match credit card. They could not answer the question other than saying “alot of people ship to different addresses”. My response was yes, but they need to put in the correct bill to address. The address didn’t even match our zip code

Don't let them tell you they will…

Don't let them tell you they will investigate disputes on your behalf. They don't. Took them over 2 months to tell me I have to pay for hair in my pizza. Their system is only for pacification. Infuriating. I closed my account after 30 years. They don't deserve my business.

Discober Does Not Side With Customer Dispute

I was a Discover Card customer for over 30 years until I had a dispute with a Cyber Security Company that hijacked my computer located in India. I cancelled the account with the security company and the following year I was billed again on my Discover Card. Discover removed the charge and later sided with the company and re charged me. I cancelled my Discover card to eliminate any further charges the following year.

With the exceptionally high interest charge that Discover charges I probably did myself a favor.

ZERO STARS IF I COULD GIVE THAT

It was my favorite card for years. I'd had it for over 20 years. AND THEN I HAD A DISPUTE. Just AWFUL. WORSE THAN AWFUL. They lost the info I provided (twice) and kept reversing their decision. Every person I spoke to had NO CLUE about what was going on or what had transpired. EVEN SUPERVISORS WERE CLUELESS. This went on for OVER SIX MONTHS and was frustrating and stressful. I had meticulous notes, documentation and proof. The reason they gave me for their continuing reversals was "PayPal is our customer, too" WHAT?????? NOBODY LISTENED AND THEN SOMEBODY THREATENED TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT. . I closed it myself. smh. Unbelievable. I was an outstanding customer. Now they're soliciting me with offers for a card. HARD NO.
(its been awhile. I probably got the date wrong on when this happened. But I'm still MAD and ran across this site)

Discover card is a fraud…

Discover will not cover charges that are made internationally, so if you get scammed by a company from overseas, then you will be held responsible for that transaction. Discover will not help you to re-coop those costs.

Discover Has Been Great

I got my card in 2014 and it has been one of the best cards I have had. If you do them right, they will do you right. I started with a credit line of 2100.00 and now it is 15600.00 They offer the best options to help you than most other banks. Thank you Discover.

Poor customer service

Recently, I called Discovery credit cards regarding a dispute of a charge from Walmart. I had to fight both the store and discover to get credit. Discovery told me to call the merchant. I wanted to dispute the charge. Discovery was unhelpful unprofessional and rude. After, fighting with Walmart and their corporate they finally gave me credit. Discovery staff was rude unhelpful unprofessional they finally stop my credit card and did nit want my business. I have excellent credit and always paid my bill in full. I can go to any bank, credit etc and get a great rate.m But, if you yell and scream they cancel your card. Plus, their advertising saying “ that their is no problem with dispute and make it easy is bull. Plus, the money back is little is tiny.

Highly Recommended

I have had Discover for a few years. They have provided me great service, in identity theft protection especially.

No complaints!... well maybe just a nitpick. It'd be cool if my cashback rewards didn't require activation to work. I've missed out a couple times on big purchases when I forgot to activate the rewards.

I have had discover for 14 years now…

I have had discover for 14 years now and I have never had any issues with them. I first applied when I was in college to build my credit. They have been extremely helpful with any charges that I need to dispute as long as you follow their directions with uploading supporting documents you are good to go! Their customer service is here in the US so it is easy to understand them and they are extremely helpful and really nice! Their app is really user-friendly, if you ever lose your card for a brief moment or leave it at a bar you can freeze it for a while instead of completely canceling it all through the app.

BEWARE MOST INEPT CREDIT CARD COMPANY

Well, as others have said “no customer assistance.” This company is INEPT. Just about everyone “passes the buck”. They ask for documentation over and over. I was approved for a card in January. I received the card and tried to use it for a balance transfer as they were offering “0%” for 18 months. Well, thinking my balance transfer was going through soon, I did not make the monthly payment to that credit card company. I never saw the money come through to the other account plus I got a late charge. I call DFS and waited on line for over 20 min. to talk to someone only to find out my ID needs to be verified. I am given a web site to use to send my info. I sent my DL, Passport and SS card. Again, I try the balance transfer only to find out, I now need to go to a notary to have my identity, verified and notarized. I go to notary pay $20 and fax these documents to DFS. I wait again 10 days only to get a call saying the notary forgot to put a phone number on the DC form. So I was about to give the number, when “oh no” I have to have the notary complete and send all documents again. It is now February . So now I keep checking and still can not do the balance transfer. Well, today about 10 days after sending the revised document in, I get a call saying the document is too blurry. So, I need to send a new set of documents. I told the person, there is a non blurry document from first submission, but “No” I have to send another (3rd time) set of non blurry documents and wait another 10 days or so to use card. THAT WAS IT!!!
If it is this difficult to become a customer, then “heaven forbid” you have an issue with a charge. I TOLD HER TO JUST CANCEL ACCOUNT. I don’t need their card. I have Excellent credit and do not need the frustration from a company who is not accommodating and inept. BEWARE it takes them 10 days to even look into any correspondance!

Discover closed my account randomly…

Discover closed my account randomly with no warning or explanation. $3000 credit card will now be closed on my credit reports. Now my credit score will decrease.
They refuse to open the account back up.
Was a perfect customer for years with ZERO late payments.
Take your business elsewhere.

Service has gone down

Service has gone down! What happened to good customer service? I had some small fraud charges on my account so they closed it, right before Christmas AND before Christmas shopping was done! I was PROMISED my card would be overnighted. 5 days and 3 calls later, still no card. Called TWICE asking to speak to a manager. First time told someone would call me back, called again and told it would take 2 DAYS to get a call back? Well it’s been 3 and still NO CALL. Called yet again and was then told on day 6 that my card was being sent out standard mail. After multiple calls and having this card for over 20 years? How disappointing. Don’t even want it anymore.

THEY DON'T HAVE YOUR BACK!

I have been a long time Discover card holder, They claim that they will cover you for fraudulent transactions (basically, that they got your back).

The customer service of this company has gone down the tubes since Covid struck. I have had 2 disputes with them over the last year. Both ended up with the companies getting their money and I got nothing. They are allowing large companies to get away with stealing from consumers.

I have removed their card from my digital wallets, and will very sparingly use their card. Be very careful about having any automatic payments with them. Once the other company gets your money, you will have a hard time getting any kind of refund.

They obviously don't care about the consumers, but are all about pleasing the BIG corporations that accept their cards.

DISCOVER CARD - This company is an absolute disgrace

This company is an absolute disgrace. I recommend staying far from them. I had a business card and had to destroy it. I used the card to pay for an expensive website build. The website build company is very famous, and thinks its a Daddy. It was unable to build the website, but refused to refund the money to the card. I disputed the charge, and Discover took the website builder's side, despite the fact that they did not build a website. The website company lied and lied, and Discover took their side, despite numerous pieces of evidence that I provided. In the end, I gave up. Fortunately, I always paid my bill in full at the end of the month. This experience gave me a glimpse of how customers are treated who run into any type of dispute problems, or arrears. They are incredibly dishonest. Stay well clear. I cannot emphasize that enough.

Not the best credit card and services for overseas travel

I have been a customer for a few years. The customer service is great but the card services overseas are really poor. They really need to expand their networks and have more merchants accept their cards. I also got their card because of their 'no foreign transaction fee'. Its absolute disappointment. My credit card did not work with the tap function, then it had fraud alerts and got blocked (despite me notifying them of my trips prior to departure) and when I called them from overseas they just didnt take it seriously. Discover is alright as a secondary card but I wouldn't count on them for running my business.
