Search and Chromecasting problems - good on-demand coverage via phone app though

This is an update to be previous reviews..

I found the coverage of the Australian Open via Discovery Plus on Amazon Prime rather frustrating.
This is though my smart TV app or Amazon Prime Android app.
It was not obviously where all the matches were!
Fine if you want to watch the main feed (Eurosport 1 and 2), but if you want to follow a lower ranked player or see a tasty match up on an outside court, they are not shown in the menus.

Hearing the ads for Discovery Plus on-demand coverage of every match, I subscribed directly to the service via their own phone app.

Instead of tv app, it's phone app and Chromecasting to get it on the big screen..
I have a Chromecast 2 in the lounge.
The phone app allows you to look at the past day and weeks even and scroll through (right swipe) to see each courts matches!
Really very good!

I was able to watch live matches no problem but all the on-demand matches, without fail stuttered, both picture and sound! No loading swirly, just micro irritating constant stuttering.

Discovery Plus' info says Chromecast 2 and 3 are compatible!

I have no problem with Netflix, Amazon prime, BBC iPlayer, TennisTV phone apps and casting. Perfect pictures!

Remembering I had a second Chromecast unit in a bedroom, I got that down to try. This second one was a Chromecast 3.
At last stutter free!

After a day or so of this, I started getting a blank screen and refresh swirly interrupting the matches really quite often!
Still no problems on the other streaming services??!!

I remembered have a Chromecast LAN connection / power supply and tried it.
It connects the wired LAN internet from your router to the Chromecast instead of Wifi.
At last quicker load and no interruptions at all ever!
It's been several days now and it worked flawlessly all day.

I do not know why I only have problems with Discovery Plus wifi fed Chromecasting! Other streaming services are fine.

I also realised the Amazon Prime/Discovery Plus coverage on my smart TV does let you search for the name of the player or players and all the matches they've played will come up!
You have to know this or you can't find them.
Wish that was made clear somewhere!
It's fiddly using the remote to input the names though.

So, I'm now feeling a bit more positive about Discovery Plus' grandslam tennis coverage than before.

Lots of head scratching to get there though!

Before this, using the TV app, I too missed the end of matches, clicked to watch a match to find it was another match.

The delivery of the phone app matches seems better.

Hopefully Discovery Plus can improve!
Amazon Prime was terrible covering the US Open their first go at it. They ironed out the problems eventually.

Aus Open tennis on Discovery terrible.

Aus Open tennis on Discovery/Eurosport is a total joke. They obviously don't care about teniis, thank god they've lost it from next year. Some matches aren't listed despite it claiming to show all matches, endless scrolling through menus and list to find a match, no facility to search to find the player/match you want to watch. Totally useless and waste of money.

Discovery+/ sport - disappointing

£6.99 a month for Australian Open. No commentary on any of the matches and not possible to watch all the replays. It’s also missing a daily highlight option like BBC would have for Wimbledon. Lots of improvement needed before charging a monthly subscription, needless to say I’ll be cancelling.

I am a fan of a couple of programs

I am a fan of a couple of programs, but like paramount plus, they screw around with programming..like Sister Wives…the way production has dragged the series out between 16 and 17 seasons..was disgusting and extremely disappointing. To me, it wasn’t worth it. And just I dumb to drag programs out like that. Not impressed, do t waste your money unless you watch ALOT of the programming.

Discovery+ is awful.

I'm really don't want to give even a star for this review.

I've spent the last hour figuring it out if it's just me with tech issues but it appears the Australian Open tennis coverage is truly woeful. I'm watching through the Amazon Prime app and the interface is difficult to navigate.

There's NO commentary whatsoever which makes the experience dry. Some commentary is better than NONE.

oh so disappointed with tennis

Signed up through Amazon to watch Australian open. The live coverage has a start from beginning option but the Nadal match stopped before the end. Then the Murray match showed it was live but the start from beginning said ended and no replay is available. It's impossible to find the matches I want to see. I couldn't find Radacanu at all. I've already cancelled my subscription. Rated 2 as I watched a couple of regular shows and they were okay but that's not what I want from this. I'm so disappointed.

Horrible interface and no commentry

Signed up for the Australian Open. I have always found Prime's interface horrible for finding live sport, however Discovery+ has taken it to the next level of hopelessness. No information about who is playing on what feed, you have to enter each feed to see. Secondly, on watching Murray match now and no commentary. This seems a routine problem judging by the reviews. Cancelling this rubbish.

I cannot see the Murray/Kokkinakis…

I cannot see the Murray/Kokkinakis replay, it is not available. Also a lot of matches are missing for both single and double, not available for replay. Finally the match icon don't match the video... It is a bit of a mess. The AO landing page is also mixed with other sport events such as skiing, I think there should be a dedicated AO page.

Australian Open coverage shocking

All coverage of the Australian Open tennis. You CAN'T access all matches as it seems to promote before signing up. Imean, At this point (10am) there is 1 live match available to watch...Streams state one match and actual show another. If you watch through Amazon Video (which I am) the matches you can watch are minimal and there's no commentary. Terrible. How dare they. Don't waste your money

Appalling

Appalling! Watching Andy Murray match yesterday and it just abruptly ended at the beginning of the 4th set.
I am unable to get any commentary, and the matches are all over the place
choose a match to watch and it’s completely different.
Will not bother paying for this again.

Discovered Rubbish

Watched 3 sets, Murray was on his way back, really starting to enjoy the game, then what happened next was unbelievable, discovery + pulled the plug, how can a company offer full sporting viewing & not deliver it's promise, next year I will look elsewhere to watch the AO.

Appalling service due to tech issues

Took out a subscription to watch the Australian Open tennis, what a waste of money - trying to find recording of Murray v Kokinakis, nightmare trying to navigate the App on my tv, finally found what was titled as that match, but clicking on it gave a different match. Tried again hours later, this time it doesn't appear as an option at all. Tried on my mobile, but I can't access it there either as it is asking me to upgrade and take out a membership pass - which I already have! Sort out your tech, it can't be that hard.

Signed up to Discovery + for the AO.
Was unable to find Andy Murray's 2nd round game on catch up.
It may be on there somewhere, if i had a clue where to find it.
The on screen layout is confusing and unfathomable!
I give up.

Absolutely appalling coverage of the AOpen

Absolutely appalling coverage of the Australian Open. The icons say one match and you click on it and get a different match. So it's hunt the match you want. Then can't believe this happened in the 4th set of Andy Murrays match the programme stops playing and reports match finished. The match had not finished!!!!!!! What a waste of money Discovery plus sport is, so disappointed to miss the final set.

Australian Open

Like lots of others here I bought a subscription for the Australian Open but it's so poorly put together it's hard to believe. Not all matches are on replay and often those that are don't correspond to the names. Totally unusable. Cancelled subscription about an hour or so after buying it.

Terrible, As described by others

As described by others, discovery plus for Australian Open is cr*p. Clicked on the replay of Murray / Kokkanis match and what is Discovery showing?? I get Mannarino Vs De Minaur! Not the first time I've had issues, same happened with the round 1 Radacanu match...advertised but not shown. Navigation to watch replays terrible. Please give Slams back to Amazon or Eurosport. Resent what I'm being charged by Disney because I'm not getting what I thought I'd paid for. Total rubbish, Disney+

It gets worse

It gets worse: the live coverage of Murray - Kokkinakis match ended at the beginning of the 4th set, and is now available as replay, while the match continues, now in the 5th set. I have only subscribed for the tournament; and it is not expensive, but I would rather pay more for a decent streaming service. This is really awful.
