Minus Five Stars - Do Not Use This Company

I wrote a review last year about the terrible experiences I had with this company, but after another terrible experience I just have to write another, this really is the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Our solar panels packed up a few weeks back and after calling them they booked an engineer to come this morning, but guess what? No show, and of course no emails or anything to say they weren't coming... I called them just now, lame excuses about a 'backlog' and no offer whatsoever to rebook only that they would call me to reschedule. I won't hold my breath. I won't swear but this company is what a bear does in the woods...

Simply the worst …

SPUK 101064

I would give 0 stars if I could. Green Energy Together are simply the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

They fitted our solar panel system last April. It lasted a few months before it stopped working completely. It then took a couple of months of weekly phone calls before they sent an engineer out. He instantly identified that the inverter had not been installed properly in the first place and would need to be replaced.

That was in October. Since then I have called and / or emailed every week but am still no closer to getting our system working.

Customer services employ the following tactics:

1. Don’t answer calls or reply to emails (don’t bother trying their “call back” service - they don’t).
2. Tell you they need to look into your issue and promise to phone you back - they don’t.
3. Fob you off with an excuse like “I’m waiting to hear back from the warehouse manager if your part is in stock” - I discovered they have an electronic system which can tell them instantly.
4. Pretend to book an engineer visit but don’t (n.b. You will get an email confirmation with a job number, if they have really booked a visit).
5. Tell you that you need to put your complaint in writing - then they don’t respond.
6. Eventually, they will actually book in an engineer visit. However, despite getting an email confirmation and reminder, no one will turn up.

I thought I had cracked it when I reached out to the CEO, Nick Elbourne, via LinkedIn. His PA called me the next day and was very apologetic. She booked in an engineer to visit. However, I should have known better than to get my hopes up as this company never fails to disappoint - no one came.

You can see from the other reviews here, my experience is not unique. If you need further evidence check out the recent articles in the Guardian and Evening Standard.

Would give 0 stars if I could

Echoing so many others abut this company, no communication whatsoever unless they have been demanding money. Signed up to Solar Together scheme in Spring 2021 (2 years ago!) on basis they would vet an installer. Waiting >6 months for a survey. Finally got installation date for 1 June 2022 - it is March 2023 and nothing installed. In January, GET postponed installation till April 2023. Today (13 March 2023) had an email from Solar Together that GET UK has had MCS accreditation suspended and they have asked them to cease all installations. Waste of time and money.

I don't really need to say much other…

I don't really need to say much other than echo the reviews made between September 2022 and February 2023 as these also sum up my experience of a company which appears to be overtrading, over promising and under delivering. Multiple installation dates have been missed since the original 7.11.2022 date they provided, they even managed to drill through the gas supply within my property as they failed to carry out the initial electrical works in a safe and correct manner and then left it up to me to organise both the gas supplier to isolate and make safe and then a separate gas engineer to undertake the repairs, they have also so far failed to cover the costs of the repair. I resorted to emailing the managing director who forwarded my email to his team asking them to resolve all outstanding issues and they appear to have ignored his instruction and failed to contact me to resolve the matters raised. I have now cancelled the contract which as a customer you are entitled to do under their own conditions within the contract, I now await their response to see how they are going to deal with the return of the deposit.

Swerve Get UK/Green Energy

Although the teams appear to helpful on the phone, assuming you wait long enough to get through. The execution of the rest of the business is a shower of S##T.
Cancelled appointments, wrong kit, no kit, no scaffolding. Poorly briefed teams, bad wiring lead to my panels fighting with each other as they reversed the polarity at install.
I have wasted so much Real Energy chasing these people. After 10months since my inspection I am still awaiting a completed system. No batteries and only 3 out of 7 panels currently working functioning.
One star is a tad generous and would have given it 0 if that were possible.

GET should not be used. Truly awful experience

SPUK64641
This company was the worst contractor I have ever contracted. They failed on 13 occasions to turn up and complete the install. It was lucky number 14. The materials sat in my living room for 21 weeks Sept 2022-Feb 2023. After months of arguing and failures they finally completed. Their workers were not safe installing the panels and leading edge protection was non existent. I was worried for their safety, it doesn't appear GET held their team to the same regard. I'd steer clear of this company at all costs

11/03. Just to add to this experience this is the response I got when I requested compensation and costs covered for the debacle.

Having read through your letter we obviously cannot accept the ‘costs’ that you have detailed as we do not specify a date of completion so therefore cannot compensate for loss of generation during the period of the installation, nor £40 per hour for waiting on hold on the phone.

I have looked at your contract and we have only charged you for the ‘transport of scaffold through house’ at £100. (We include a standard 2 side 1 high scaffold for all of our contracts at no charge to the customer). Did you not have any scaffolding used? If so we should be able to credit the extra charge for you and also allocate the £75 that was offered to you to your account.

I'm going against the grain here…

SPUK177254 I think things are patchy with GET, and maybe we were just lucky. We're in the London lot.

Install booked for Fri 17 Feb. Three days ahead, realised hadn't heard from them, so phoned - was assured that the visit was confirmed; Michelle offered to chase the scaffolders and phone back. To my astonishment, she did! 17th arrived - all the kit was delivered, and the scaffolders did their stuff. I phoned to check the revised install date - they would check. Monday morning "can we install today?" Yes please! They arrived 10:30 and worked hard all day, and the system was fully installed apart from EPS which was installed a couple of days later.

The London phone lines are much better handled now - they do answer, and are friendly and helpful (esp Michelle and Sarah).

There's a couple of little niggles (EPS doesn't do what I had hoped; monitoring needs Internet link through my router - both match what they offered, but not what I had hoped for; my bad).

And it was slower than I'd like (survey was in August). But only a day or two past their promised date. All the contractors were pleasant, tidy and efficient

Awful

My experience with Green Energy Together has been disastrous. I first contacted them in May 2022 and paid a deposit of £100. Two appointments were made and cancelled at short notice. In October another appointment was made for 14 November. The solar panels arrived and were stacked in my small back garden. The 14 November appointment was then deferred to 28 November. However, by the time the installation team arrived, no scaffolding had been delivered. It turned out that as the scaffolding needed to be set up on the pavement and permission from Westminster Council was necessary. Finally, an appointment was made for 23 February this year. However, no scaffolding arrived and presumably no permission had been requested. The installation team went away

During all of this time, when I phoned no one answered and when I sent an email no one replied.

As there are so many negative reviews for this company, I wonder if we could get together and put joint pressure on Green Energy Together

Dreadful

Green Energy Together took £150 from me as a survey fee, designed a system that they then acknowledged wasn’t the right one, and then took another £2,300 from me as a deposit for the up-scaled design. Five months after the first installation date, and two further missed appointments later they have still not installed and still refuse to refund my money. If you are looking for a solar installer please do not use this company. There are some really genuine companies out there. This is not one of them!

Expanding my System

I was very pleased with my installation of 16 panels and two batteries in July 2021; and had my system upgraded to 3 phase to allow more panels, I have paid the deposit last year for 3 more batteries and 10 more panels. I seem to be having problems making contact to agree a delivery date HELP

SPUK195744

SPUK195744 - Survey and contract.
Paid my survey fee of £150 in April 22. Heard nothing from them until August when they contacted me whilst on holiday in Mexico. Said they would call 2 days after my return. That never happened. Finally got through to them and after threatening to get refund through solicitors they gave me a survey date of 27 Sept 22. He arrived did the survey and said 3 -4 wks for the full report. Never happened. Contacted again in Nov and Dec. Found that the survey had not been submitted so arranged for another survey (17 Jan 23). This was carried out and I was assured it would be with the company within 48hrs. On 26Jan contacted me with letter of authority to sign which I did and returned it electronically. Told the report would be 10 working days.
Didnt happen so phoned again. They have thrown together the contract which gives the cost but no other information. It is supposed to have number of panels, which storage battery, what i would get fom it energy wise, how much into the national grid and what i would potentially save etc. None of this was on it.
Its now 16Feb and have sent another email complaining.
Very wary of taking up the work as i dont know if they will turn up and what quality the work will be if their service is all like this.

Still waiting for a refund six months later

I must unfortunately echo the multitude of negative reviews that have appeared on this site about Green Energy Together.

We got in touch with GET to install solar panels and a battery in August 2022 - this was something we did ourselves, not part of a Solar Together scheme or anything like that.

After being initially impressed, we paid a deposit of nearly £3,000, with a date to be arranged for a site visit. However, the day after paying the deposit, I was speaking to a friend about what we were doing, and he mentioned some of the negative reviews that he'd seen for GET.

Up to that point, we'd taken some of the reviews on GET's own website at face value, and clearly hadn't done enough of our own due diligence. That's on us.

But we were well within the 14-day period from when we'd agreed to have the panels installed and still had every right to cancel and get a full refund. We notified GET that we'd changed our minds and wanted to cancel, and completed their own cancellation form.

This was sent via email and received by them just four days after we'd signed the contract.

After multiple email exchanges and lengthy holds on the phone over the autumn and winter, we still have not received our refund. We have been told repeatedly that it's being processed, that it's on the list to be dealt with, but enough is enough.

Six months have passed and we appear to be no closer to getting our money back. I understand the staff on the phone may not be able to do anything themselves about our specific situation, but promises to chase up their colleagues and make sure they deal with it won't cut it anymore.

The one thing I will say, is that customer service does appear to have improved, at least from my perspective. Since December 2022, hold times on the phone have been a lot shorter, so maybe GET have taken action on that front.

Now they must address the issue of long overdue refunds but I'm looking at our options going forward and at this stage can't rule out legal action.

Just under £3,000 is a huge amount of money to us, and there's absolutely no way we're going to write that off or just sit on our hands while GET continue to sit on their hands.

This service is just not good enough.

Shocking experience, don't use.

Absolutely appalling experience with Green Energy Together (GET). Signed up in early 2022 as part of the Solar Together 2022 Mayor of London scheme. Initial survey was fine and obtaining revised quotes worked really well. Finally agreed the contract and paid the 25% deposit with installation due in early Feb 2023. In the meantime the HEIS certificate was cancelled as apparently the installation was cancelled (unbeknown to me). Contacted GET and they said the installation was still going ahead and not to worry. Installation day arrived and nobody showed up, called GET and whilst i was on the phone they rebooked for 2 weeks later (today). No reason given for why this was rebooked (parts, people etc).

Which I'd reviewed them before as never would have bothered, an absolute joke of a firm.

Nightmare

Nightmare. Didn't turn up, almost impossible to contact and are unbelievably rude if they do pick up the phone, and are now improperly holding onto my deposit. Don't be fooled by solar together or ichoosr or Mayor's office saying they will help because they won't. Disgraceful dereliction of duty and the council should feel ashamed of themsevles for this travesty of a group buying scheme.

Terrible company stay away from them…

Terrible company stay away from them and any subsidiaries.
Had panels installed in October but no batteries as per contract , system not worked since and handover pack issued 2 mths late but missing pdo form, so not complete pack. Never issued with the app as per contract.
Contacted them after many requests for call backs and sitting on hold for hours, filled in their trouble shooting form contacted their ceo direct and had Hies and Niceic chase them but still nothing. They simple get you money and run and don’t care one bit about failure to comply to contractor or regulation.

They should not be allowed to trade or be accredited to install solar.

Company is rotten from ceo down

Update - finally have a working system, a GET-UK turn up to install dongles (which we still haven’t received), as there was no dongles he had a look at our fault, drove down to screw fit and replaced a switch within a hour. 4months to replace a faulty switch install when panels were installed - beggars belief.

Promised dongles would be installed a week later - no one turned up

Had an appointment for the missing Batteries today 27th March. Rang a week before to check if it was still happening and told it was. However no one turned up, when I rang got told the appointment has moved to May now as no batteries. Note that’s nearly 7mths that GET-uk have not had any batteries to install for us but still manage to keep selling the option to new customers.

Seems having NICEIC chasing on the faulty install issue got things moving - but once fault resolved and NICEIC case closed -so did GET-uk commitment to deliver on the original contracts.

Avoid Green Energy Together

I signed up to Solar Together London on 14 March 2022 following a letter from the Mayor of London. Of their approved solar installers, Green Energy Together won the auction. What due diligence was carried out on this company before accepting it as an approved installer? Nobody turned up for the first survey on 1 September 2022 and no apology received. A contract was sent to me even though I had not had a survey. I eventually had a survey on 3 November 2022 but subsequently have received no contract. I dread to think what their installation work is like if their administration is anything to go by. After nearly 11 months waiting, I have decided to cut my losses and find another supplier.

GET pursues deceitful sales tactics

Echoing all the poor reviews, GET cancelled two agreed installations leading up to Christmas 2022 and I’ve been chasing a refund since of the nearly £3k deposit I paid back in September 2022 (having duly cancelled the contract with them). Have initiated HIES complaint, Trading Standards and have contacted Action Fraud (Trading Scam reporting service) as it appears, based on all of these poor reviews and customer experiences, that GET is deliberately pursuing a deceitful strategy of pressuring customers to pay 25% deposits, with a promise to install in the near term (I was initially told within 2-3 weeks of paying my deposit back in September 2022). This deceitful and unethical practice enables GET to prop up their short term working capital whilst leaving many customers out of pocket and with no installations. Hopefully contact with Martin Lewis will also result in a more visible “name and shame” to help other would-be customers avoid this poorly run company.
