How is this legal?
We paid a considerable deposit for solar panels last summer. Our installation date was cancelled 3 times via email. After the 4th date of Dec 16th came and went with no communication whatsoever, we decided to cancel.
We submitted the cancellation form on Dec 26th. After no response, we rang up to check. The form had got lost and they would now process it. I have rung up weekly to chase the refund and each time have been fobbed off with 'it is being processed', or 'I can get someone to call you back'. No one ever does. No timescale has been given for a refund. We are not rich; we need this money.
I do wonder how much I could make if I set up a fake company and kept people's deposits for six months and more. That would give me a nice return if I invested it!
I have since contacted HIES and citizens advice to request help in this matter.

Avoid at all costs
Total shambles of a company. I signed-up for an installation via the London Solar Together initiative and it's been a nightmare journey all of the way.
Firstly, I've had to chase them at each stage. They cancelled the site survey at short notice and I had to chase for an installation date. This was booked for the 20th January and as I had not heard from them, as per their information, I contacted them on the 16th. They said I would hear.
Then on the 18th I received an email cancelling the installation and offering a date in March. I sent a contract cancellation on the 23rd and have had to chase them again today (31st) as I had not even received an acknowledgement.
I intend to pursue a full refund, including the £150 booking fee as this is entirely down to their lack of action. If necessary via a court claim.
I wonder how many other £150 they have kept from people who've given up with them!
Massively Overcommitted Liars
This company are excellent at one thing. The most streamlined part of this operation is taking your money. Everything else after this is a complete incoherent mess. These companies are bidding too low to get the work.
The company has had multiple directors indicating a severe lack of leadership, direction and professional management.
They will do anything to get you off the phone, promising to call back which will never happen. They cannot provide any information on when any work will start or be completed. My job was half completed. I have had scaffolding erected since October and am still waiting for additional solar panels and batteries to be installed.
Best advice is to not engage with this company in any way whatsoever.
If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would. AWFUL, awful company. Avoid at all costs. Unable to get hold of customer services. For 6 months now! Literally try regularly. Get cut off when no 1 in the queue. Zero reply to emails. Never get a call back. I’ve sat with my phone in my hand and with the ‘automated call back’ the phone rings once then cuts off. So indicates a missed call but the call is ended their end. We have a loose wire which has not been fixed for 8 months and no one has turned up to three appointments made but ZERO contact since those which were over six months ago. We are still outstanding a battery also. AVOID
Don't!
GET-UK were assigned to us as our solar installer through the Solar Energy Together Cambridgeshire Scheme. After 10 months of GET-UK's abysmal administration, appalling communications, delays, omissions and errors; we lost all confidence in this company and cancelled the contract. We lost our £150 deposit, and count it a small price to pay to have no further contact with GET-UK. We have since contacted 6 Solar Companies direct, agreed to a contact with one, it's more expensive than the Local Authority Scheme, but not hugely, and it's a better system, and it will be installed in less than 3 weeks start to finish. Our advice? Avoid GET-UK.
Find another solar company
We were registered as part of the Solar Together London scheme and the customer service has been poor from the off.
We never heard from them about arranging the survey once we had paid our holding deposit in May 2022. Eventually I chased this up in October and had a survey booked within a week. Since that survey, I have heard nothing from the Company. I have emailed them and called them repeatedly and am just told that the survey isn't on the system yet and they will update me when it is. A number of times I have been promised it will be "by close of play tomorrow" or "I will chase this now and call you right back". We are now three months and multiple calls later and no-one ever calls back, ever. I have never had an updated contract and drawings following the survey. I have emailed and asked for my deposit back, but again (surprise, surprise) I have heard nothing.
I would not use this Company.
Awful customer service - and panels don't work after 6 months had a series of problems with…
We've had a series of problems with GET:
1. Installation was delayed by months due to their poor organisation (they would wait to receive components to book installation, by the time the installation date arrived, components had run out again)
2. Contacting anyone is incredibly difficult and when you get a hold of someone it’s a lottery as to whether anything gets done
3. 6 months post installation our solar panels are not working
Wandsworth group buy (SPUK 159407)
Sadly adding to the masses here who have been unable to get anything out of Green Energy Together.
Overall, I find their communication lacking - they are fairly fast to pick up the phone (I don’t think I’ve waited longer than 15 mins on hold), however, I don’t think the staff on the line can do every much other than placate customers.
So far, for each promise of follow up, I’ve received no further information by email or phone call.
My timeline is as follows on the Wandsworth Solar Together scheme:
23 February 2022: Registered to the Wandsworth scheme
7th April 2022: Green Energy Together chosen as the supplier for the scheme
20th April 2022: £150 deposit paid to Solar Together
21 June 2022: GET reach out and provision of reference number
14th July 2022: Letter of Authority signed and returned
(All good so far… now for a long wait…!)
17th November 2022: Chased Green Energy Together with an email on when to expect a survey - they never replied
2nd December 2022: Called GET to follow up on survey. They were relatively fast at this and a surveyor showed up on 6th December
6th December 2022: Survey completed
13th December 2022: Full quotation for panel-only system provided with acceptance form
13th December 2022: Signed acceptance form, paid a 25% deposit, installation booked in for the 24th January 2023
Week of 16th January 2023: Called GET repeatedly to get updates on scaffolding and parts supply (their email says this should be done a week in advance of the works. After repeated calls, I was given the contact details of the scaffolder, who had plenty of things to say about GET and their “lack of logistics”. Notably that scaffolder gets excellent reviews compared to GET here.
20th January 2023: Called GET again to get an update as their scaffolder claimed to have no record of the job. They said they send out scheduling for the following week on a Friday and that is why they wouldn’t know (seems crazy with a Tuesday 8am start and the scaffolder is being told on Friday afternoon!)
23rd January 2023: No scaffolding, called GET again and they said they are delaying the job, someone will be in touch with me to provide an update
24th January 2023 (original install date): No updates from GET. Calling them again and the job has apparently been rescheduled to 3rd February 2023 (without any confirmation or agreement from myself).
I remain hopeful they will meet the 3rd February date, but my experience so far and reviews here do not fill me with confidence!
EDIT: March 22nd 2023
GET completed the installation eventually, but it took a lot of chasing and follow up. Upgrading my review to 2* since they did complete the works, but if you’re looking for a recommendation for GET, I’d say go to another supplier with a better rating - GET will probably complete the works, but you *will* have to micromanage them through it all via repeated calls to customer services. Hat tip to AVRIL on their customer services line who was able to resolve the outstanding issues I had. Contrary to other reviews, I’ve found GET to answer the phones but they are often unable to help directly there.
GET management - if you’re reading this, please please please sort out your logistics - it is clearly not working!
Council workers - if you’re reading this, please think twice before awarding more group buys to GET, they don’t seem to be able to manage the volume of requests in a timely or efficient manner.
Here is the timeline of the rest of my install:
February 2nd 2023: Scaffolding went up
February 3rd 2023: Electrical installers showed up. They were subcontractors with no details of what work was supposed to be completed (e.g. they did not know about the battery/inverter set up that I had already explained during survey stage). There were also no electrical cables onsite as part of the delivery which meant they could not install. They left again.
February 6th 2023: The subcontractors returned with cables and started the install. They managed to break a panel in the process (oh no!) but surprisingly were able to get a new panel delivered same day to complete the works.
March 3rd 2023: After repeated chasing via GET customer services, the scaffolding came down - again, good communication from the scaffolding firm, who informed me they’d only been told the previous day to come and remove it.
March 21st 2023: After some more follow up, the (presumably) subcontractors came to collect the inverters not needed for my install that were erroneously delivered. This concludes my day-day need to contact GET customer services.
I’m still waiting on my completion pack and DNO paperwork so that I can sign up for an export tariff - but do expect this to take another few months. Hopefully we will be there by the summer
As the other state already - Avoid
I was one of the unlucky one to trust this company which won a tender with the Solar Together scheme in London.
I had a survey booked and they didn't show up, I mailed several times but only after pushing Solar Together I was able to get a response and a survey done.
After 3 months they still had to give me a quote so I came back here and from March a lot has changed and I decided to cancel the interest and requested the refund of my registration fee.
At least I am not as badly unlucky as the others that got the system installed with issues and no support.
So I'll never get back the £100 of the registration fee but could have been worse.
Really poor customer service from GET
Really poor customer service from GET. They do not answer phone calls and have not installed by battery often giving dates they do not meet. Also the bird netting as fallen off and they are not responding to emails. i do not know how Solar London recommended them as this company do not know how to run a company. SP UK reference 80316
Absolutely horrendous (SPUK6704)
Absolutely horrendous.
My installation was cancelled 6 times (usually on the day before installation, but sometimes they just didn't show). One time the scaffolders showed up and abandoned scaffolding in my front garden where it was left for 3 months. After the 6th no show I asked for my deposit back. That was in September 2022 and 4 months later I am still waiting. The company never responds to email and currently the phone lines are engaged.
I strongly advise you to avoid this company.
Unbelievably bad
Unbelievably bad! Avoid at all costs this company does not meet its contractual obligations. Over 18 months since signing the contract and installation still not completed. Six appointments missed without any prior explanation - zero customer service. Simply appalling.

One of the worst consumer experiences of my life
Installation was delayed for a month, after the scaffolding was erected. Following the installation, the scaffolding was not removed for several months, and only after we sent them letters citing our rights within the Consumer Rights Act. Then our system was not certified and therefore we did not receive the necessary information to start our feed-in tariff, until another few months later. Now, there appears to be a short-circuit that triggers alerts whenever it rains, and they will not answer or return our repeated phone calls to come to fix it.
Overall an absolutely abhorrent company to work with, having had a shoddy installation backed up with zero customer service.
Reference number is SPUK83655.

Just Awful
Just Awful!
As many people said, the customer service was awful; I don't even know how this company got this contract supported by the Government. After many phone calls, waiting time on the phone and unanswered emails, I have decided to cancel the contract, as it has been over 7 months since the contract was signed. Also, the company would not install the battery at the same time as the panels as they were out of stock. This would involve another year of waiting! I was lucky as I paid my deposit by credit card. Under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, the bank is also liable for the service/goods to be delivered. The claim is still ongoing, but some of my deposit was already returned. Therefore, those who paid the deposit by credit card, please speak to your bank. At least you will be heard, and indeed the bank will try to help you to recover your deposit.
Paid money, received no survey - scam alert
They took our money for a survey, but never delivered a report. Despite repeated calls and emails I've failed to get our money back. Absolute scammers.
Their response below says they can get one of the team to call me, but they've failed to call me numerous times in response to my calls, emails and letters. The suggestion that I would still want a survey from them after this terrible service is laughable.

Not a company I would use.
Like many other people who have used this company I am very dissatisfied with their service. I signed up for the 2021 South Devon scheme and had battery's installed. Initially I requested one battery as this would be sufficient for my needs but just days before the engineer was due to visit I received an email saying they were unable to install one battery and two was all they could do. Sure enough the engineer arrived with two battery's but I could see that the system could have worked with one – I was conned to buy and extra battery.
I have emailed the company and rang then over the last two years (on another matter) and there has been no response or acknowledgment. Just stay away.

How on earth did GET win multiple UK council solar schemes...?!?
I participated in a London council scheme arranged by Solar Together and installed by Green Energy Together. Multiple installation dates cancelled last minute or abandoned due to absence of equipment or scaffolding, hours wasted trying to call their customer service, unanswered emails and phone calls, etc.
PV array was supposed to have been installed in August but was not installed until December, however missing bird netting and wrong size inverter installed vs contract. DNO and MCS also outstanding.
My contract and many others also have outstanding battery installations, however they keep falsely claiming that the batteries are out of stock to avoid fulfilling these contracts. Their head of sales even complained that they were losing money on my installation…!
GET are totally disorganised, do not provide the right equipment for installation and use sub-contractors that do not care. GET have clearly overbid for many council schemes, but do not have the operational capability nor labour to fulfil these jobs, and will try to install cheaper and inferior equipment vs what is originally proposed in their contracts.
1 year in, 7 reschedules, no contact and no hope of my solar ever arriving.
one year since we agreed our contract and 7 times the installation has been rescheduled. When I say 'rescheduled', I mean - no one turns up, and no one contacts you to let you know. This company is a complete waste of space and if they are even legit is questionable. I signed up via the council, I contacted the council who want no association with them. I contacted Greater London Authority who also want no association - NO ONE takes any accountability or delivers on their promises. go elsewhere. Use any other service. GET are a waste of your time.

Do not touch with a barge pole!

Signed up with GET as part of the Devon Solar Together group buying scheme back in Feb 2021.
We experienced all the same installation delays and issues reported by others already but persevered in the hope that once installed it would all be okay. Unfortunately since installation, our system has never worked right for more than a few months at the time, with the most recent issues being around our battery storage losing charge for no apparent reason and drawing electricity back from the grid. At the moment we're putting more electricity into the batteries than we are getting out of the system, so it's actually now costing us money to keep it running!
I've been chasing this issue with GET for the last 4 months now and keep being fobbed off with basic answers that don't explain the behaviour we're experiencing or the data that's recorded by the system. The one time I managed to speak to an engineer and talk through the issue alongside the data, they agreed that there was an issue with the system, but then the responses reverted to type from the next communication onwards. Its almost like they are trying to duck out on the guarantees and warranties that is supposed to come with the installation - which should be all the warning you need!
Even after having made a formal complaint, there has been no further response - so my next call will be to the Citizens Advice Bureau to see what next steps are available to me.
