Professionalism & excellent work by Electrician (Gilmartins operative)

I only use Trustpilot to review purchased goods but never on operatives/companies. This is my first one doing so as it has been years since I come across an exceptional & superb Electrician. Being a HA resident for over 25 years, my experience of repairs by countless operatives with various companies has been extensive. My HA landlord recently appointed Gilmartins as the Repairs contractor. From my perspective, I am satisfied with Gilmartins in comparison with few past horrendous firms. I expect all repair operatives to have professionalism, knowledge, competence, capability and at least a minimum standard of work. It would be a bonus if in addition they have the ability to problem-solve as obstacles arise, effective communication skills & strong work ethics. When Gilmartins’ operatives have been exceptional, I ensure positive feedback are communicated to HA & contractor.
I reported a communal repair in our building, attended by Electrician Patryk (from Gilmartins). I stayed with him to show him the communal location & explained the circumstances of that particular communal repair. I was most impressed of his Active listening skills, patience, competence, hardworking & tenacity to resolve obstacle on that particular repair (which was never resolved by previous electricians & other contractor firms).
On 10 June 2026, I needed a replacement light by an electrician in my flat. To my delight, it is Patryk allocated to do the work. I was reassured immediately that the job will be of the highest standard. True to form, he did an excellent job with competence, efficiency, tidy up after completion of the allocated job. Considering he is a young contractor, he has shown full knowledge, competence, professionalism, strong work ethics & take pride is his work/trade. I know if Patryk is allocated to do all electrical work/ repairs in my flat, it will always be excellent and of the highest standard. I also know of a few good operatives in Gilmartins who has done previous repairs. I hope that Gilmartins will appreciate, nurture & retain these excellent operatives.
The reason I did not give 5 stars is because there are still improvements to be achieve, especially in the monitoring, communication in the repairs work process. There is also a need to consider a realistic quantity of jobs allocated per day to each operative especially in London. (as 1 individual managed to destroy London entire road & transport system resulting in traffic delays, chaos, parking nightmares, diversions, roadworks and more)

Sam of Gilmartins is SIMPLY THE BEST

I can’t speak highly enough of Sam at Gilmartins. From the very beginning of the process to the final replacement of our back garden fence, she has been absolutely outstanding.

What really set Sam apart was her communication. She kept us updated every step of the way, from arranging the surveyors, through the site clearance, right up to the installation of the new fence. At no point did I feel left wondering what was happening, and that level of care and professionalism made such a difference.

Sam genuinely went above and beyond to make sure everything was handled smoothly. She made us feel like valued residents rather than just another job on a list, and her dedication, kindness, and commitment never went unnoticed.

A HUGE THANK YOU from the unofficial “Sam of Gilmartins Appreciation Society!” For making us feel special. We are so grateful for everything you’ve done for us and for being instrumental in getting this resolved. Your five star support throughout the whole experience has been second to none.

Bathroom Plastering Repair

Had a repair scheduled for cracks in grout and tiles in the bathroom. Shikesh from Gilmartins arrived promptly on the dot, completed the work to an excellent standard and fixed additional work that was previously carried out badly, causing cracks, back to the original perfect condition! He was very polite, friendly and left everything clean and tidy, whilst also completing the work quickly. Could not have asked for a better experience! Thank you, Shikesh! 👍🏼

I have been waiting since 8 …

I have been waiting since 8 am this morning for gilmartins to turn up and sort my bathroom out, I was told they would be here between 8 and 1, they are subcontractors to sanctuary housing, i rang sanctuary who then said the operative had been delayed, so then told me I would have stay in the rest of the day incase he turned up,they have my number as they sent me a text this morning tell me they were coming, they have cancelled the job before and sanctuary couldn't care less

I have genuinely enjoyed my time…

I have genuinely enjoyed my time working for this company. During my employment, I was given the opportunity to develop my skills, gain valuable experience, and work alongside a supportive and professional team.
Management has always been approachable, and I appreciate the trust and opportunities I was given throughout my time here. Like any workplace, there are challenges, but overall it has been a positive experience that has helped me grow both personally and professionally.
I am leaving to pursue a new career opportunity, but I would like to thank everyone for their support and wish the company continued success in the future. I would happily recommend this company to anyone looking for a professional and rewarding place to work.

Proven liars

Gilmartins were appointed to creosote our shed and fencing. To date, they’ve attended for approximately 5 hours - we estimate the job would take one man about 3 days.
Today, our landlord stated that Gilmartins claim the work has been completed.

They are not only totally inefficient but blatant liars!

Another disappointing experience with…

Another disappointing experience with Gilmartins. We had a repair appointment booked and later contacted them for an update, only to be told that they attended before 8am and that nobody answered the door.
However, our intercom app shows no missed calls or doorbell rings. In addition, on the morning of the appointment we did not receive any driver tracking or movement text notifications, which we usually receive when an operative is genuinely on their way.
If they had attended, why was there no attempt to contact us on our mobile numbers, which they have on record?
As a result, the appointment has now been pushed back by another month. Repeated delays, poor communication and missed appointments have made an already stressful repair situation much worse. We simply expect reliable service and clear communication.

Absolutely shocking service

Absolutely shocking service, apparently fixed a mould problem by cutting a square out of linning paper and treating and painting a square, when the whole wall is affected under the linning paper. They are the definition of a cowboy builder!!!!! Customer service is the WORST and the contractors need to quit thier jobs because they don't know thier arse from thier elbows

Shit service
No accountability

Took time off work, for an appointment between 8-1 sitting around at home waiting nothing, called gilmartin just after 1 to find out what is goin on, i was told we moved your booking between 1-5 no one informed me

I had other stuff planned for today, all i was told our system shows between 1-5 but i booked for 8-1 well sir all i can do is keep the booking or cancel it

Everytime with gilmartin time being wasted book days of work not getting paid

Utterly horrendous.

Utterly horrendous.
They do not keep appointments and you have to chase up.
They used the cheapest materials possible, fit and repair shoddily which means a second job has to be done, often by an alternative contractor.
Steer well clear of this company.

Where is our replacement manhole cover that we have been waiting months for?

Last time was employe was signed off sick for a month and it’s in his car, there’s been another missed appointment since.

What is the reason this time?

No apology, no reason, not even a rebook this time.

If I could give a minus 0 I would.

Disgraceful company, how can you actually try and run a business in this way? and why on earth do housing associations use them as a subcontractor.

Yet another missed appointment with no explanation after waiting weeks and weeks on end since the last missed appointment.

No explanation, just yet another no show despite sending text reminders the day before.

This company cannot even get the basics right and staff are unapologetic. This all feels like part of a comedy act except losing days waiting in for no shows is very much not funny!

Scaffolding up for too long

Gilmartins put scaffolding up 2 months ago, for contractors to do some high level work on our residential block. The contractors finished the work 2 weeks after the scaffolding was errected. Gilmartins was told the works had been completed, and the scaffolding could be struck down. Four weeks later the scaffolding was still in place. After a phone call 2 weeks ago, I was told the scaffolding will be coming down the following week. We'll, it did not come down as promised. I phoned again today, but nobody could tell me when the scaffolding will be coming down. I was also told that Gilmartins did not have a phone number for their own scaffolding company, and they done everything by email. I asked for the email address, I was told it was in house use only. This is a bad company to deal with, they have no proper customer relations operatives, or customer service department.
